WOW what a little cutie, the little dog looks so gorgeous, and you made him or her perfectly, in fact I've ordered a needle felting storage bag set, to do soaps and other crafts with it, I'm a beginner, but needle felted soap before, this portrait is outstanding❤
Once you understand how the wool is attached with the poking it is much the same as painting; often working with the dark first and highlights on top. Good luck!
I tried mixing blue and red once to try and get purple and it was very strange because they didn't quite mix well but my eye sort of saw it like purple in certain places, curious thing. Really nice video! thanks!
You are an amazing teacher and artist , I loved this video so I will subscribe I don’t want to miss any of your videos. Only one thing what is the software , what version of iPad is it and what pen is that tha you use with the iPad please , please answer me I beg you!
I am so grateful for your video. You have such a talent. Such an eye for detail. How did you transfer the image onto the cotton fabric? Did you redraw again? Your choice of fabrics opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me.
Could you iron a stabilizer on the back of a thinner felt sheet? I’m on a fixed income so always looking for less expensive ways of doing everything. Love your work.
I would think stabilizer is fairly expensive. I'm cautious as it may become stuck in the barbs of the needle. If you have it already maybe you should do a small test. You can use a piece of linen , even from a vintage napkin
I learned quite a bit from watching your video, Thank you..May I ask,,How many colors do you use for the fur in a Black & White dog?? Including the reflections. I'm Fascinated !
I am New to this and was just wondering, which fabric do you like the best to work with? Which is best to trace on, and punch the needles thru. And which one Will last best? I was thinking about making a portait, but make it as a pillowcase. Thank you for this tutorial, absolutely amazing!
i like to use real linen as it is strong and also a natural fibre. Linen is so strong that it won't even allow ripping along the grain as cotton does. I'm loving linen lately... Best of Luck!
I think you are referring to the green painters tape I use to just get all the little bits & hairs off the back ground. I'm using it like a lint roller. I'm sorry it is so quick but the video would be hours long!
Oh thanks so much for your reply and also your beautiful artwork is very inspiring. I want to try to make one too. Would you suggest the iron on pen or the manual way you showed in the video for image transfer to the cloth? 😊@@madebybarbcom
@@AlvinaTandian The iron pen does not work on every kind of fabric. Some use a permanent marker (easy to find) since it will probably be covered or a heat erase pen. You will need to have a transparent fabric though. Another option is the fabric transfer papers (like carbon paper) that allow you to retrace and it transfers to the fabric. Good luck!

Wow! This is incredible. I feel I learned so much from watching this video. A couple questions… how long did this take you to complete? Also, what would you say is the estimated cost of making one portrait? And last, what kind of scissors are those?
It took possibly 4 hours. I do not do commissions so I do not know the cost. Search Etsy possibly for commission artists. Those are little snips that work by squeezing. I actually got the red ones at a dollar store.
I used Procreate (add a layer and trace) on an Ipad with the Apple pencil, but I used to just use tracing paper over a photo. You can also try Adobe Illustrator and 'livetrace', or even Photoshop > posterize for shapes of colours.
Piękny piesek🤗

I have an ipad pro (from a few years ago but is the bigger size) and an apple pencil. Maybe go to an apple store and see how you like it.
Beautiful work. Do you sell them

Yes, I retraced it with the pen that will disappear when I iron it. Frixion pens

Mooi gedaan, dat wil ik ook proberen
Do you leave some of the strands not felted to look like fur
Hello what is the green thing that looks like a scrapper in your video? And what is it used for?😊

The 7 needle at once tool- does it have a special name?

Hi, May I know that you use short hair wool?
If you don’t mind sharing, what is the name of the program/app you use for tracing the outline?
I used Procreate (add a layer and trace) on an Ipad with the Apple pencil, but I used to just use tracing paper over a photo. You can also try Adobe Illustrator and 'livetrace', or even Photoshop > posterize for shapes of colours.
Muchas gracias por el tutorial,,así estaba buscando es espectacular un saludo
What do you have underneath?
I made a wool pad (layers of felted vintage wool blanket). You can see it here: www.madebybarb.com/2021/08/22/needle-felted-pet-portrait/
Typically how long does it take for you to do a portrait?
I think it took about 5-6 hours of the felting and some time to get the image ready as well. I hope I've inspired you
@@madebybarbcom you have! It’s just awesome what you do! Thank you for taking the time to share.
I have that
