It is both AC and DC powered Engine.
WAP Series engines are all Alternating Current only.
Now at CLW(Chittharanjan Locomotive Works) some of the WDP engines are transformed into Diesel cum Electrified engines for the future uses.
WDP4 Series engines are my most favourite engine ever used by Indian Railways.

WCAM3 is DC n AC locomotive exclusively produced for Mumbai only for both WR n CR.
Now since Mumbai is completely converted in AC, this loco is also now upgraded fully as AC loco with some changes. It is now only operated in CR for the ghat section.
It has 5300 HP with a maxi speed of 125 kmph. This loco is now at par with WAP4.
This Engine is famous for deccan queen as it is running more than 73 years

Hi Ajay, nice video. Long before, I travelled to Pune by Deccan Queen. After monsoon, the route from Karjat to Lonavla was covered with xenia flower beds on both sides. It was beautiful. Mumbai local trains will be decorated when their motormen retire. He will wave to all of us in the platforms and when the local reaches the destination, he will be welcomed with garlands, drumbeats etc. Such a nice gesture. For Womens day Maharashtra day etc. trains will be decorated with flowers and balloons.Enjoyed your video a lot.

WCAM - W(Wide - denotes broad gauge tracks) CA(Runs on both AC and DC supply) M(Mixed - suitable for both passenger and freight). WAP - W(Wide) A(runs only on AC supply) P(suitable only for passenger trains)
WCAM is popular in Western railways as they had DC supply to run their trains and due to limitations of DC, they were slowly changing to AC supplies. So this loco will be suitable for running on any input they have in any location. :)

3 stops between Lonavla and Karjat for all trains, Ajay. First stop Khandala, second stop one more cabin, third stop Monkey Hill cabin. Compulsory brake testing halt for all trains!
Ghats sections goods and passenger trains operated by Bankers which means 2 or 4 locomotives attached in back side of the train to pull the train in forward direction and all locomotives will be in ON condition. If the locomotives attached in front side of the train it is called Brakers. To control the speed of train in down direction.

WCAM 2 is CA is converting AC and DC and Ms meaning goods and passenger train pulling engine same like alco WDM
WAP7 can run only by using Alternate Current. But WCAM can run by using Both Direct and Alternate current. Because in the ancient days of electrification railway ran by using Direct current between Mumbai and Pune. In india Only Kalyan shed has WCAM locomotives.

WCAM is the one that can operate on both AC and DC traction I suppose. It's mostly used in areas like Mumbai where there are more trains running in a span of 1Km or somthing of that sort.
