This is why I love your channel you really are fretting about giving each and every unintentional fish the best possible living conditions. Shows how much you care and speaks to you’re professionalism and standards.
Wow! With bettas, the difference between housing that many girls and that many boys is *huge*. You're a champ for taking it in stride and doing the best you could for them.
You should really consider doing a go fund me or something similar like Joey and Jenny did. You are equally as entertaining and, in my opinion, even more informative than almost any other FishTuber. Plus I love the fact that you’re one of the only entertaining retailers that post consistent videos. That helps a lot of people to trust buying from a random person online. I know for me personally, that was the biggest reason why I ordered from you.
The difference is, I am a business- they are personalities. I feel like I should be able to do it from the work I have put into my business- though I truly do appreciate the sentiment!
Rachel O'leary But people don’t watch you because you are a business. They watch you for your personality and information. I understand your point though. “I should only expand when the income supports the expansion!” It makes perfect business sense. I’ve been watching you for almost a year now and have heard you mention multiple times about having a Fish building in the future. It seems the Fish community is really exploding right now and this is the time to use it to your advantage before the craze is gone. If anything, just view it as a loan from people that like and support you. You can pay people back by maybe free fish or decor based on the amount of support they gave or figure out a way to “return the favor” if it makes you feel uncomfortable taking money from strangers. These other FishTubers are doing it for content since that is their “business”. You could actually breed fish no one else has and use that as your way of justifying it since people would have a go to person for things they can’t purchase locally. That is the very reason why I ordered from you in the first place. Obviously I have no idea who you are outside of these videos and the few email exchanges we had during my couple orders. You actually seem to care about this hobby and you are actually doing something to benefit the community. Yes these other people make people want to get Fish which boosts popularity, blah blah blah. But you are doing that AND selling these fish that you talk about. I mean really. If these people can do it, why can’t you?
I find that at present your channel is much more informative than most other channels. I do agree however that if you focus a fundraiser exclusively as a means to expand your business it may not be as successful as if you decide to use the new building/expansion to partially be used on conservation / education / show tanks. How about a section to exclusively breed CARES fish? I would happily chip in for that. Your channel is definitely my favorite fish related one. Greetings
Plus I can only imagine there would be a line of sponsors willing to get behind an effort to make awareness of endangered species & promote the breeding and sustainability of the CARES species. With your online presence you can make this happen while at the same time sustain your business
This was one of my favourite videos Ive ever come across on YT, of course not the shipment of wrong fish, but you showing in the beginning bagging and shipping out fish and then an unboxing of fish, thats the kind of content I love!
Today has been a HUMDINGER of a day! What are you guys up to? Buy me a coffee: msjinkzd.com/about_msjinkzd/support-our-site/ Instagram @msjinkzd Website and stocklist: msjinkzd.com/stocklist/ Facebook: facebook.com/msjinkzd/
I just started keeping fish in April of 2017 and very quickly realized I needed to learn more in order to keep my fish alive. I have found a few fish keeping channels on TH-cam but yours is by far the most honest, informative, and entertaining I've found. Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge and experience with the rest of the fish community!
I think that for vlogging on a fish related channel you can do a mix of fish related clips and non-fish related. This way it still fits the theme of what most people subscribed for BUT also gives us a chance to see other cool stuff ^_^
11:23 BEST face ever lol!love your vids Rachel I really like these "day in a life of a fish pimp" and I really like big fish unboxings! and I see you got the betta bug....thats great!!keep up your content!
Rachel great video! It amazes me how easy you bag the fish! It looks like the first bag would not fit in the second bag but voila it goes right in! Lucky for the bettas you have a lot of fish tanks for you to put them in. Expanding the fish room will be awesome 👏🏼
That blue one and the teal one are both stunning. You won't have any trouble rehoming those boys, or probably any of the others once they perk up. Even in the bag at 16:50 from ten feet away he has great color.
That would be awesome to see daily videos. I will definitely watch them if you choose to do so. Honestly, anything you post is interesting; you're so entertaining no matter what you're doing haha. Props to you for being a fish pimp, a mother, and a business owner. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Love ya Rachel. Keep it up! ✌💕 And don't feel bad about sending the wrong fish, everyone makes mistakes. (P.S you're the only youtuber I watch ads for)
Really love your show. And I enjoy hearing about your day to day life as well...I am past shuffling kids around, but I had my own business and really understand that whole work/mom/kids life balance!
That faulty betta order was frustrating! (plastic wrap with holes poked in it = emergency lids?) Always great to get an update though, love your content!
If you have not ordered from Her before, you are doing yourself a huge disservice. Exceptional customer service, extremely fast shipping and exceedingly healthy stock.
Very odd I have never seen or heard of bettas jumping I have kept many and never seen that behaviour another great video if I have learnt something new!
You're one of only 3 that I get notifications for on all my devices. I hope you do vlogmas! I like seeing your plant care and would adore more carnivorous plant videos. Also an update on the greenhouse and more daily stuff. Thank you for taking the time to do videos even as busy as you are. Happy Holidays!
Rachel O'leary Please do! My 7 year old daughter and I have a semi-new fascination with them. We want to get some and she was very sad when I explained the dormancy period. Her birthday is in March so hopefully then will be a better time to start with her and make up for Santa not bringing her one. :) You're the catlyst for this, so thank you!
I ordered apistos last week from Rachel last week. She was great with the whole process was amazing. Your missing out If you haven’t purchased from her
I know this is an old video but most dollar stores sell little shoebox sized tubs and you can split them off(two per box) with craft mesh and hot glue I do this with my breeding Bettas when they(males) start getting older and need to be separated a sponge filter per box is good till you send them off to where they need to go if you want to get rid of them
I just rescued what I thought was going to be three bettas, but turned out to be four - 3 male 1 female . That was inconvenient enough, having to set up one extra tank in a hurry! 8 is so much worse! I hope you’ll still do the sorority in the future, that sounds like fun.
hey! i woudl love to see some videos on lights, i dont think you have any unless i totally missed them, but even explaining the lighting and what different wave lengths for plants would be amazing,
I would be interested in hearing about logging or journal keeping in regards to aquariums. I have seen this suggested but have never tried to keep logs like this myself, and wonder about how useful it would be versus the extra work it takes.
Those are eight very lucky bettas, I have always put them with other non nipping fish and never had a problem. Sometimes they would mimic the other fish. Enjoy them until they sell.
You could never bore me with unboxing fish shipment videos, I'm just saying. Sorry about the shipping error, I have bettas so I understand how frustrating that kind of mistake is. I am glad you managed to house them in separate tanks and I hope there are no issues in these tanks with the boys. As a betta-momma I would love updates on the males, I'll try to remember to ask the next time I catch you live. Good luck Rachel, and I look forward to your next video.
You have been an inspiration for my fish tanks (and hair), I'm sure you've heard if before, but wow, your energy level and daily activities are extremely impressive. Scientists everywhere need to find a way to can it, I'd certainly buy it! I strive to be as active & productive as you seem to be. I absolutely Love love love the plant videos too! I think plant and fish hobbyists are some of the nicest people ever! I'd certainly be interested in some more gudgeon videos/information. I have a couple peacock ones and I love the way they move. Okay, thank you so much for your videos, info and astounding overall presence! Fellow PA Fish Hobbyist, Carrie
I personally love your vlogs. Watching them has renewed my interest in keeping fish. I'm not sure how hubby feels due to me asking for new tanks and shelves to put it all on.lol.
Yes! Best gifts for fishkeepers!! Great idea! I've put a MsJinkzd gift certificate on my list, which basically means a post-Xmas order that someone else pays for!
Rachel what about installing an auto water change system? that could potentially save you alot of time, press a button and change a set amount of water in all tanks or even certain tanks?!
Hi Rachael, any chance of doing a video on aquascaping planted tanks especially with community fish? My 180 litre tank got ICk over Xmas so having to restart again. Planning to get java fern, valls etc and keep them with minnows, danios etc.. Thanks Rachael, keep up the good work
Rachel any chance to get a video about quarantine protocol for new fish that come from store that doesn't quarantine them before shipping like you, type of medication to use etc'
Gutted to see you unpacking the surprise male bettas and to watch the horror unfold! Can see what a massive inconvenience this represents to you. However! I've recently moved my 4 female bettas out of a community setup into their own tank and want to build a proper sorority, so I literally clapped my hands together with glee when you said you wanted to build one too! Hope the males don't put you off as I'm dying to see how you go about it! I've learned so much from you already, I'm truly tickled to think I may be building my sorority alongside you. You're an inspiration, Rachel. Love you to bits xx
What's your thoughts on the breather bags? And what kind of bags are those you used?? I got a lot of endlers and trying to decide if when I sell them off what bags to use.
I really love your channel!! I would love for you to star selling some more bettas for January. I don't really know how the shipping process works but I would love to buy my fish from you because I see the love you have for all the fish you care for. I also have a 90 gallon baby koi/shubunkin tank. wish you the best!
Maybe you could review /recommend the best books for aquarists? Or the books which helped you the most/inspired you the most? I've a massive fish library, heaps of mags, books etc. Some go baçk to 1800's!
Rachel O'leary I have never heard of it, thanks for the recommendation, maybe you could do a video on it! Among others my books by Gosse, Boulenger, Sterba, and TFH mags from '55 to '83 are my favourites- just to compare how things have changed :). When I look at today's planted aquascapes and reef tanks ...good Lord! We have come such a long way from when aquariums used to have slate bases/bottoms so they could be heated by spirit lamps and a wooden spoon was essential to revitalise water through a brisk agitation! :)
Rachel O'leary Found it! But $75 + $90 postage to aus is a little steep 😨! Sounds like a great read tho, I'd (we'd) love to hear you read some of your favourite pages either on live stream or an episode ...(hint, hint)
I also have to tell you how much you remind me of pink the singer, I love her music and I love learning stuff from you about being a better aquarium hobbyist.
Happy (almost) vlogmas! It may cheer you up to know that the long-finned white clouds that i got from you are now spawning like crazy in my 20L. i think i have at minimum 20 babies! I don't even know what to do with them all! :) maybe a good idea for a topic video! - what to do with all your fish if they start spawning like crazy! no worries about those male bettas - i'm sure they'll move along quickly!
lemonade from lemons! I love you vlogs, they are very informative. Could you please do one on dry fish foods(cheaper versus the dearer brands) ie what they shouldn't and should contain, thinking on the lines of the smaller fishes. One for omnivores/herbivores/carnivores?
I did a video on what I look at, I am always apprehensive about really harping on brands, becasue the reality is even though it may not be up to MY standards, there is a reason all of those foods are popular and affordable and for broad spectrum application- fine. Sort of like the food we can buy at the grocery store- its not UNSAFE, but maybe just not ideal
You should do how to basics video series. Like you did the one about water changes. I find it easier to learn/relearn this stuff from you than from anywhere. Thank you for sharing! Love from Croatia ❤️
Oh wow! I'm actually setting up a 5.5 gallon for a betta for my daughter. I'd be interested in purchasing one if you decide to sell them. Still sucks because space is always an issue with male bettas.
Where do you get the containers that hold the fish before pouring them into the bags? Your videos are so engaging and easy to listen to. I’m really looking forward to you doing vlogmas!!
love to watch your video. and I don't feel bad when I make mistakes because I see you make some and I really learn from them so thanks I think you are a hero in the fish world. thanks again Rick
I just found your channel this evening. I wish I could curl up in your easy chair and enjoy all of the aquariums. When I was a kid my mother hated taking me anywhere with an aquarium, she said that I didn't look at the tank, I looked at each fish.
Im going to set up a nano tank for the first time in a month or so...you will be hearing me! Two actually....a 10 gal with a beta and a 30 gal with community fish.
Rachel O'leary allright I ll make one today. Thanks for the fast reply. 1 question...I ve got 5 Otocinclus Vittatus..they ve spawned twice but no eggs gave living baby s...What can I do to help them? It s a Otocinclus only 50L. tank with low PH, 3 pieces driftwood that leak tannins...couple of giant Valisnaria, stone hiding places all over the bottom with very fine shrimp gravel rounded..and they are still growing so not adults yet.I have several bushes made of Subwassertang and Javamos.3 spawningmops just in case they wanna use them. They eat veggies, algy tablets, shrimp food. They are very visible and seem to be healthy. Is there anything I can do to help them more or is it just wait and see?
Wow. Plan for one tank, suddenly need to think about 8. Please update us on how they do with the tankmates. I know several folks do that, but I've never had the guts to try.
Do you use any "stress-zyme" or "first defense" type products with your fish to help heal or repair fins and slime coat? Also, thank you for your videos, I know that I greatly appreciate that you continue to make these.
No, I generally just do a LOT of water changes. I don't really like chemicals in general, for me, my other pets, or my fish. I feel like feeding a high quality, varied diet and clean water does the best for them.
Have you ever considered any kind of merch? I think that who you calling shrimp tattoo would make a pretty hilarious Msjinkzd shirt or hoodie. Not really a video idea but I'd at least love to see it.
No idea if you've already done this but can you talk about how you prepare the fish for shipping/how you package them/send them off? I'm very curious. Love all the content!
Hey Katie, I just talked about that on Thursday, should you want to check it out. I also have a video I did a year ago about winter shipping, if you search for heat packs or shipping on my channel :)
Hi Rachel, can you do a species spotlight on the stiphodon you got in with this shipment? I think I have 4 of them (sold to me as blue neon goby) and would love to hear your take on caring for them.
Love your videos in new to fish keeping and getting ready to setup my 2nd tank. I would love to see a video that doesn't explain the nitrogen cycle(watched hundreds) but explains what to do with the results you get while testing if that makes sense. I get the cycle but guess I'm not sure when to start water changes and anything else I shouldn't do to interrupt the cycle.
CreativePetKeeping housed a lot of her adolescent male betta's in cups set in a tub of water. That way they were each heated in a bigger vat and the temp was more consistent. I'm sure you've figured out something by now but I thought I'd throw in my two cents
I recently found your planet catfish thread on centromochlus reticulatus whilst research others from the genus and I was wandering if you still have the breeding group? If so can we have an update?
I don't, I sold them to a friend of mine in CA who is breeding them like crazy- hopefully when he has fry of a good size, I will be buying them all to keep them again, and offer them for sale. They are an amazing fish!
Rachel O'leary cool! I look forward to seeing some more centromochlus in the future. Thanks for the quick reply. Also please can you do more breeding projects? Something like dwarf puffers maybe as their wild population has dropped by around 40% because of the hobby and they aren't too challenging to breed, in short certain species could really use a captive population so that their wild counterparts can bounce back. Thanks
Problem solving, Fish Pimp styles. Well done you! I would be interested to see a vid on your Dwarf Puffer and Bumblebee Goby tanks, I am curious as to your set up with heavy stocking and whether you have problems with aggression as these are - in theory - quite territorial fish. I have 8 Gobys in a 65 lt (not their forever home) and I have had to separate out/hospitalize my littlest guy twice due to nipped fins (he asks for it, hes a little shit!) I also have a 120 lt with 3 adult DP males and a 85 lt with 3 juvy DP males and it isn't always sunshine and lollypops in those tanks either. Sendin ya thanks for your consistently top notch content.
This is why I love your channel you really are fretting about giving each and every unintentional fish the best possible living conditions. Shows how much you care and speaks to you’re professionalism and standards.
Thanks Greg!
"Like I would ever keep a betta in a cup." You're one of my favorite people just for that Rachel.

Wow! With bettas, the difference between housing that many girls and that many boys is *huge*. You're a champ for taking it in stride and doing the best you could for them.
I sure complained a lot, hahahahah.
lol. Considering the enormous inconvenience it was, you hardly fussed at all! Seriously admire the way you take care of your fish. All the best!
Rachel O'leary that was not a lot of complaining.
How disappointing for sid....no harem buddy...not today....
Love to watch your day to day business life. Your honesty is clearly genuine. Can't wait to place my first order with you.
D Stowers I just received my order the other day you won't be disappointed. The fish were beautiful, arrived on time and healthy!
I've ordered a number of times from Rachel. Never have I been disappointed with the fish or any part of the shipment.
How can i oder from her
Or where do i go?
msjinkzd.com/ Her updated stock list is on the site.
I can only wish to order from Rachel , England is a wee bit to far for shipping fish :(

Definitely! If you love it enough to wear it, there must be a story behind it.
You would be surprised how many tattoos are worn just because "I like it"....

Rachel any chance to get a video about quarantine protocol for new fish that come from store that doesn't quarantine them before shipping like you, type of medication to use etc'
I have a series on QT, but I don't recommend medication unless there is obvious illness. I think I have the QT playlist on my home page :)
The colours on those Bettas are gorgeous! I’ll be keeping my eye out for them! 😍

Honestly. What can't you do Rachel. You look fantastic. Keep it up
I would like to see you vlog about your other pets. I don't think that you have Partridges or Turtle Doves, but I know you have chickens and rabbits?
yes, and cats
Some go baçk to 1800's!
oh man, one of my favorite books you probably have- The Toy FIsh: A history of the Aquarium Hobby. If you don't, check it out!
What a great idea!
Bettas mine favorite fish! i try to get few males for breeding but.. every shop have just blue betta splendens.
Hi Rachael, I love your tips.. I am wondering if bichens. The dinosaurs fish. If I spelt it wrong..again ty love yr talks.
- what to do with all your fish if they start spawning like crazy! no worries about those male bettas - i'm sure they'll move along quickly!
you send them to meeeeeee LOL
always a possibility! i'll have to send you a pic - they are so teeny!
+Littlebean and Me good for you by the way!!
Any recommendations on where to get polyfilter?
Any of the shell dwellers available? Multies Lamprologous Multifisciatus if so how much?
lemonade from lemons!
Daily Rachel. That will be cool.
Hi do you ever ship fish to the u.k at all ? Thanks.
I am looking for a blue crowntail betta, how do we make this happen?
Ok. I understand double bagging fish. But why put the bag with the fish in it upside down in the outer bag? My LFS doesn't do this. Just wondering.
+Nicki Anderson so that is has rounded corners on all sides and little fish are less likely to get trapped during transit
Rachel O'leary I never thought of that. Should I ask/tell my LFS to do the same or is this just for shipping purposes?
+Nicki Anderson it's really most relevant for protecting them against the bumpy ride in the mail
I would love to know how you acclimate shrimp, I watched the other video but still not sure. Plop and drop as with fish?
Yes, unless they are going into a tank with extremely soft water. If that is the case, I set up an extremely prolonged drip (over a full day)
Rachel O'leary Thank you very much!
You should do how to basics video series. Like you did the one about water changes. I find it easier to learn/relearn this stuff from you than from anywhere. Thank you for sharing! Love from Croatia ❤️
Vlogmas would be awesome or maybe fishmas! As far as non fish video ideas, I would really like a video on your chickens.
I love what you do. Especially when seeing what you did with the male bettas. This is my dream
that is a conundrum. I'm sure a lot if people have said this already and I'm new but is there anyway you can switch suppliers?
I’m really looking forward to you doing vlogmas!!
they are called dip and pours or specimen containers. I have had mine forever, but you can buy hem on Amazon. one brand is "lee's"
Thank you!
love to watch your video. and I don't feel bad when I make mistakes because I see you make some and I really learn from them so thanks I think you are a hero in the fish world. thanks again Rick
Hey Rachel, wondering if you contact the seller and if they rectify situation or that is that? Thanks for the videos
For a quick one day fix you always have dip n pours for the bettas.
I just found your channel this evening. I wish I could curl up in your easy chair and enjoy all of the aquariums. When I was a kid my mother hated taking me anywhere with an aquarium, she said that I didn't look at the tank, I looked at each fish.
sounds like an excellent human quality!
Im going to set up a nano tank for the first time in a month or so...you will be hearing me! Two actually....a 10 gal with a beta and a 30 gal with community fish.
Betta jump?ohhhh...mine lives in a tank without any lid on it.Should I ad a lid?
+Abby van der Pluijm it's never a bad idea with a surface breeder
+Abby van der Pluijm it's probably just a maturity thing
Wow. Plan for one tank, suddenly need to think about 8. Please update us on how they do with the tankmates. I know several folks do that, but I've never had the guts to try.
U rock Rachel... i love your videos and karisma.. hugs from sweden
Not really a video idea but I'd at least love to see it.
yea, it is just a matter of one more thing for me to get done! I have to find the original artwork, I agree that one would be fun!
Oh awesome! I'll be sure to do so!
I would love to see some setup videos, more specific breeding set up and how you do it personally because everyone does it a little different!
Great share , I am sure you will figure out the bettas fine, what an interesting turn of events for sure.
Hi Rachel, can you do a species spotlight on the stiphodon you got in with this shipment? I think I have 4 of them (sold to me as blue neon goby) and would love to hear your take on caring for them.
+H.C. Aqua yea. Mine are all male though unfortunately
I might have one female (which I'm assuming is the less colorful one).
I love those males!! I would love to facilitate one of them when they’re ready for forever homes they’re beautiful 💜
Rachel you thoughts on aquaponics ?
Rachel... running out of room? time to move a few tanks in the kitchen and bathrooms for easy water changes... LOL
7:55 that wasn't a fish that was left in the container, was it?
no, it was sand (black, colorquartz s grade, lol)
You do a great job I didn't even want fish I have fun watching your shows!👍
I recently found your planet catfish thread on centromochlus reticulatus whilst research others from the genus and I was wandering if you still have the breeding group?
Thanks
Is there any type of arowana that can go into a 125 gallon with 3 tin foils and 2 bichirs?
a 125 is just too small for an adult arowana, in my opinion
Rachel O'leary That's what I've been trying to tell my husband, but glad to have a professional opinion to give him also. Thanks!!
Do you ship to California and overnight? Thanks!!!!
Yes to both
Do u keep marine fishes....
Thank you, always love your videos..
That blue betta I like what will it take to get it to San Antonio Texas
