People , especially drummers , give him a lot of crap . I’m a lifelong drummer and I think he’s amazing. His creativity is unparalleled in metal music. There are a ton of better drummers , but they can’t even come close to what he has done to inspire a whole new generation of drummers. Like Peter Criss before him.

You are right and Metallica as a whole is one of the most if not the most inspirational band in all of rock and metal. I listen to a lot of extreme metal; death and black and during interviews on inspiration Metallica will always be mentioned. Maybe not right away, but they always do.

From my 20 years of drumming experience, I don’t remember how much time I spent to reach this drumming skills in my teen-age. How many times I failed, how many times I hit my finger to the edge of the snare to bleeding. He is a pretty decent drummer to be honest. The matter is not to play like him, to be able to create what he has done perfectly. There are tons of drum works in this song. Sorry snobs, but the fact that you must face with this hard work and these skills can’t be underestimated that easy.
