So... who here is a fan of the new front end on the 4-series? Maybe we just need to see an M4 in person or another color but we think BMW may end up doing an emergency refresh on this car. Thankfully, it’s still incredibly fun-to-drive and fast, but so are a lot of other cars in this price range.
There was hate on the Audi and Lexus grills when they were first introduced. Those car makers responded with subtle changes and these days we don't think twice about them. I think the BMW grills will eventually have the same acceptance. Some enthusiasts will still dislike it, but most people won't notice any more. Personally, I don't really mind it, and the balance of the car styling is quite nice.
I think at first he wasn't so sure then he drives it and just can't help it, the car is absolutely fantastic. I don't care if anybody says differently.
I enjoy my M2 Comp. Great cars. Not a lot of competition outside of Merc, Audi and perhaps Alfa. The Asian cars are way behind and sell nothing in comparison.
We bought our m 440i over the thanksgiving holiday after following the concept and the controversial front end. It’s much more in scale than you’d think. It’s an amazing car. Go big or go home

Once upon a time this was my default coupe, E46,E92 with a notchy manual gearbox but no longer. I can’t believe BMW has turned its back on the enthusiast wanting a manual gearbox option. I can even forgive the look of the front grill.
I guess BMW loves announcing it’s presence way before in enters the room with that grill ... John Cena walking towards the ring with beats announcing his grand entrance:-)

I understand that car manufacturers are trying to differentiate their cars from others by making a bold design statement to get noticed. But theres a good way to get noticed, say a super model in reveling cloths vs. Road kill, you tend to look at both but you wouldn't want to be around or touch the road kill. In addition BMW quality has been severely lacking as of late. Just another reason not to buy one.
I have the 2021 M440i in White metallic with a tacora red interior. I love the car and the front grill! Waiting to try launch control as I am still in the breaking in period.
I agree. Tons of people have complained over and over again that they hate this new trend of giant grilles. Hopefully car manufacturers listen and address this.

12:46 I think the complaint about the driveshaft tunnel in the back seat isn’t valid. If you wanted to get on the passenger side of the rear seat you would generally get in the passenger side of the car negating the need to climb over the tunnel. The complaint is akin to complaining that it’s hard to get into the front passenger side seat from the drivers door.
Saw this exact car on the road today and it actually looks pretty damn good! Not a BMW fanboy since everyone of their vehicle looks the same so this was a nice surprise. Looks like a I7.
I thought GM brought back the Pontiac G6 coupe GXP with the fat grill. Honestly Europe got really strict on emissions this past year so that would probably explain the why there aren’t any crackles and pops. They did the same thing on the stevlio from Alfa
My 2021 M340 that I picked up two and half weeks ago has the mild hybrid system. However, what it lacks is the exhaust pops of the 2020 just like your M440 tester. That’s disappointing.
Agreed! It’s just a bunch of boring no imagination people. It’s definitely fire and super popular here in Germany. It would be a shame if they changed back to the boring grill.

Stark difference from the B58 motor in my '18 X3 M40i, couldn't agree more that they shouldn't have removed the pops and bangs from the exhaust as it now sounds too tame!
7:38 All German cars sound way better in the states. In Germany, it all gets destroyed by EU emissions regulations, sound regulations and ridiculous engine rev limiters. I‘m kinda jealous.
On the flip side Europeans have hundreds of models of cars that don't come to the States. I'd be more grateful for that than be upset over something that's easily fixed with an aftermarket exhaust.

IF they sculpted the grille to flow with the lights or shape it to flow it would look decent but they made the grille look like an afterthought it doesn’t align with the curves or lights like it’s sad
A few things that I noted that was incorrect; The 430i and 440i doesn’t offer Merino leather. It’s only available on the M4. The leather option you have is called Vernasca. The leather on the doors and dash isn’t real (leatherette). Real leather on the doors and dash is available on the M4. The doors don’t close as solid as the 3 because it’s a frameless design. Lastly, the 4 has always been more refined than the 3. Most people think that this is just a 3 Series coupe, but it isn’t. I’ve owned both, and the biggest difference is the suspension tuning. The 3 feels more bouncing at times, while the 4 feels more grown up and refined. This will be the same case for the M3 vs M4. Any BMW guy knows that the M3 has always been more fun to drive than the M4.
Agreed except the last point. I’ve owned both f3x m sport models and the chassis sucks on both and feels the same; boaty and soft. I hated it so much that I traded for an actual M car. Not sure what you mean the m3 is more fun than the 4? What to clarify?
From afar, side profile looks like a Mustang fastback which is fairly attractive. If I were in the market for a 4 series, the M variant may surprise us all with the performance bump.

I picked up my M850 GC a month ago. Boy am I glad they kept the grill within normal dimensions.

This BMW "grill gate" reminds me of the Acura "beak gate" years ago on the TL. They had to do an emergency patch for that because it was so ugly.
