    Some other advice:
    If you can, get a job as a TA or RA at the school if they provide tuition reimbursement. It can actually slash your dorm and/or tuition in half, saving you thousands. Scholarships are nice too if you can go and acquire them.
    Do an internship every summer, not having at least one seriously diminishes your chances of getting a job when you graduate.
    Meet people and go to clubs. Try to make time for them as they are not only fun, but are the paths of networking and finding friends/romantic interest before you go out into the professional world where everyone has a fake mask to match society.
    Be careful, you can do stupid stuff in college as memories but don't get yourself or other people hurt. Try to eat healthy and exercise as you aren't forced to anymore. Especially take care of your teeth.
    Last but not least, check in with your highschool/childhood friends. College is a stressful time for some and a lot of people go into depression if they're alone. Reaching out to your friends will keep that relationship bridge and is a mutual solidarity in fighting back against bad mental health.

    I took several CLEP (and DANTES) exams and passed them. At the time, I had mixed feelings about it. I wondered if I was trading the benefits you mentioned (reduced time and cost) for some essential part of 'the college experience' I may have been missing out of. In retrospect, I think I made the right decision, since the school I went to wasn't a top tier college. If I had gone to a prestigious school, perhaps I'd have chosen to spend the extra time and money.
    Most colleges accept them, but they all set different levels credit they will allow. Some may allow as little as 3 courses (9 cr hrs), some as high as high as 10 (30 credits!). They typically don't advertise it, so you have to dig through their acceptance and regulation materials to find out. At the very least, I think they're a great way to skip general requirements you may nit have much interest in.

    if you know your going to college a good tip is to watch guys like this's youtube channels to study up on the courses your going to take. not only will you probably have a leg up on everyone else at the start, you will save time on studying, focus on things you actually need to learn, and maybe have such a good understanding you pass with high grades. IM CURRently writing formulas and theorys, laws, and examples of how to solve problems in note books a month or 2 in advance of the class. good notes will last you so even if you forget most of what you learned post graduations you can reffer to your notes and relearn everything much quicker.

    Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for motivating future college students to earn a college degree while saving time and money. When I was a college student in the late 1980's and early 1990's, I did not have anyone to motivate me to study and work hard as an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Maryland College Park. I started at the old Catonsville Community College in Baltimore County, Maryland and then I transferred to the University of Maryland after two years at Catonsville. I also barrow student loans to fund my undergraduate education. This is an error free video/lecture on TH-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

      The same US History, English, Spanish you are taking in high school are the same ones in college. Keep your notes so you can refresh your memory before CLEP. Sometimes you can use work experience to get college credit for a class. Look into tech schools that offer core classes, (they're usually cheaper than colleges) just be sure they transfer to the college you want to attend. As a transfer student you are not required to live on campus. I want to sit for the CPA (certified public accountant) exam but I didn't want to go another year (MBA program) and pay all of that out of pocket ( you don't get financial aid after your 1st bachelor's degree.) I asked my advisor how to get there more creatively. she told me to double major. It was just 3 classes more and I'm able to start taking the CPA exam the day after I graduate. Which is in 4 short weeks! In 2 1/2 years I have earned my bachelor's degree in both accounting and finance. I wish you all the best.

    finishing those credits early is great!!......... until you realize you blew out all your gen eds and electives and now you're left with your hard science courses but if you want your scholarship to pay anything you have to take 12 hours (full time student) so you have to take 3-4 upper division sciences simultaneously. Just food for thought.

    • @johnclement3323
      @johnclement3323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. A pretty good approach would be knocking out 50% of gen-eds with CLEPs and taking the rest to boost your cGPA. Also, check if the amount saved using CLEPs is greater than the potential scholarship you're receiving. My scholarship is quite small(only 2k a yr) and each class is 1.2k so it'd actually be worth it to take the gamble.

    Yes, Clep out of your classes or at least take your pre reqs at the community college. But taking most if not all of your classes at a big name university is important if you are trying to be a leader such as striving for a position eventually as a CEO, CFO, COO, Vice president, etc. Most people in those categories went to big name schools all the way thru. I don't know many big money makers who Clep'd out. Also, you can go to the military for 4 yrs, and that will give you some money. Other than that, clep is your best bet. I wish I had of done that.

    • @Pllm30
      @Pllm30 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kay8797 You have to check with the advisor, but I think all CLEP courses are ok except the science ones where you must have a lab. In CLEP obviously there isn't a lab component. In America, almost all science related jobs will require labs with your sciences, they may not hire you if you don't have the labs. CLEP chemistry, for instance, only works as a filler class for majors other than science related like a Business or Finance degree, for examples. But going to med school, I wouldn't CLEP on science but other courses.
