In High School, I was so disciplined. I graduated with high honors in 2014. College came along and I hung out with the wrong people. Drugs, partying and alcohol took a toll on me. I used to say "I'll only drink a little not too much. I can control it," to people who actually tried to give me advice and warn me not to go down that path, but nope my naive and dumb self didn't listen thinking that I was all cool doing what everyone else was doing. I dropped out cuz of those dumb mistakes I made. I lost a scholarship in the process cuz my grades plummeted. It was a humbling experience and in 2017, I decided to go back this time with a different mentality of focus after having regretted everything that happened. I am almost done and sometimes in the back of my mind I'm like "Damn, I should have listened, I would have already been done, like most of the people I knew in HS." Don't make the same mistakes I did of letting people talk you into drugs and alcohol and partying cuz one day you may regret it. Trust me, you don't want to learn the hard way. It's so easy to fall down that hole and climbing out of it takes way more effort. You may think that you are gonna be able to handle it, but damn that's not how it ends up working out. This is my advice to those who happen to stumble upon my comment.
Live a little. Earning a degree is not mandatory if you're not interested. It's not a grand heroic voyage, it's just studying. It's supposed to be kind of fun (maybe just in some sick masochistic way, but fun stillxD).

I'm going into my second year of university and I can attest that these steps work. To do well in any class you don't have to be intellectually gifted. All you have to do is follow these steps and stay disciplined. Easier said than done.

It's never too late. I dropped out of college when I was in my 20s and now 10 years later I'm graduating in computer science with a 4.0. Don't listen to people's negativity and good luck with everything :)
I agree that studying ahead of time makes sense and consistently reviewing your notes makes sense but when you're already struggling with dense material that can be kind of difficult.
I would say start from where you are at now with the topic your on in class. I would also say that whenever you get a break, use that time to then start applying these techniques starting from chapter 1 and so on. Because if you try to do both at once, it could prove to be too much especially if you have other classes. Then when you try to prepare for the final exam, most of the things you will need to study for will he from. The first half of that semester and chances are the first half semester material may be easier than the second half.
I think learning to teach yourself is the most valuable lesson I learned in college. When I depended on others I failed, (teachers/tutors). I taught myself things I never believed I would understand and my grades are the proof of that. Thanks for all your help, you are the real G.O.A.T.
You are absolutely incredible. I’m in my 50’s and for over 30 years in the electrical utilities. I have never been to college, not an engineer, I barely made it they high school. I have to take classes regarding my profession and nowadays all training in large company’s with nothing but lawyers and engineers running them, I use your videos constantly to help me with training I have or studying, etc. I sure wish you were around years ago but I think I appreciate everything you do now more than I would have years ago. My problem with studying ahead of time is that if I already know the material, I tend to not pay attention too much in class since I already know that stuff. Also some of my teachers teach things differently that what I learned and then I have to change everything I know

I don’t have a lot of time so I cram but I still get As in AP classes. My tips: do homework, listen to readings assignments when possible, don’t stress to much about “procrastination” just take time and complete each assignment on your own time.
Personally, a tip that i use is that if there are any topics in you test which you previously had a test on, id review the test to see what i did wrong and how to avoid it

I use all those tools you mention in the video and I was very successful in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Maryland College Park in early 1990's. Going to college is a full time job and students must be motivated at all times.

I wish I knew all this in high school, I grew up in a messed up home where I was beaten alot and I had no one to help me with my homework so I gave up and it just ruined everything for me, I ended up with mental problems because of the abuse. And every time I would try to get my life on track something would get in the way of It I would end up in the hospital, I had a baby but she was taken from me due to my mental disability . I had to deal with that trauma now I am just so behind in everything related to school because of it, I am trying to create great study habbits, I am studying for my G.E.D. at home and it's hard to understand everything but watching this guy help with math is incredible I am getting better at problem solving. I want to get back in school and study hard and do something more with my life. But it's a lot harder now that I am older. I wish I could just get up in the morning and just study, but I get so tired that I just turn on the TV and lay there some times, I used to be homeless on the street and I was diagnosed with perinoid schytzophrenia where I was hearing voices . Now I don't hear voices and I am not homeless on the street and I think my body is just trying to recover from everything I have been through before it can catch up to studying again and to the rest of the world, any body has any advice. I’m getting ready to go off to college soon, my parents and my sister who’s in college tell me all the time that I need to balance my fun between parties/fun and schoolwork. When a couple friends say they want to go to a party and I have a test tomorrow ima turn them down and study. There’s times where you can have fun with friends but college is definitely a different stage in your life, nobody will baby you, you have to learn how to live on your own, keeping up with your schoolwork will also be harder as well since you don’t have your parents to constantly look over your shoulder. To sum this up, keep the practices your parents taught you at home, when you leave for college don’t change. You can MATURE but don’t CHANGE.

In High School, I was so disciplined. I graduated with high honors in 2014. College came along and I hung out with the wrong people. Drugs, partying and alcohol took a toll on me. I used to say "I'll only drink a little not too much. I can control it," to people who actually tried to give me advice and warn me not to go down that path, but nope my naive and dumb self didn't listen thinking that I was all cool doing what everyone else was doing. I dropped out cuz of those dumb mistakes I made. I lost a scholarship in the process cuz my grades plummeted. It was a humbling experience and in 2017, I decided to go back this time with a different mentality of focus after having regretted everything that happened. I am almost done and sometimes in the back of my mind I'm like "Damn, I should have listened, I would have already been done, like most of the people I knew in HS." Don't make the same mistakes I did of letting people talk you into drugs and alcohol and partying cuz one day you may regret it. Trust me, you don't want to learn the hard way. It's so easy to fall down that hole and climbing out of it takes way more effort. You may think that you are gonna be able to handle it, but damn that's not how it ends up working out. This is my advice to those who happen to stumble upon my comment.
Live a little. Earning a degree is not mandatory if you're not interested. It's not a grand heroic voyage, it's just studying. It's supposed to be kind of fun (maybe just in some sick masochistic way, but fun stillxD).

It's never too late. I dropped out of college when I was in my 20s and now 10 years later I'm graduating in computer science with a 4.0. Don't listen to people's negativity and good luck with everything :)
I agree that studying ahead of time makes sense and consistently reviewing your notes makes sense but when you're already struggling with dense material that can be kind of difficult.
I would say start from where you are at now with the topic your on in class. I would also say that whenever you get a break, use that time to then start applying these techniques starting from chapter 1 and so on. Because if you try to do both at once, it could prove to be too much especially if you have other classes. Then when you try to prepare for the final exam, most of the things you will need to study for will he from. The first half of that semester and chances are the first half semester material may be easier than the second half.
I think learning to teach yourself is the most valuable lesson I learned in college. When I depended on others I failed, (teachers/tutors). I taught myself things I never believed I would understand and my grades are the proof of that. Thanks for all your help, you are the real G.O.A.T.
You are absolutely incredible. I’m in my 50’s and for over 30 years in the electrical utilities. I have never been to college, not an engineer, I barely made it they high school. I have to take classes regarding my profession and nowadays all training in large company’s with nothing but lawyers and engineers running them, I use your videos constantly to help me with training I have or studying, etc. I sure wish you were around years ago but I think I appreciate everything you do now more than I would have years ago. My problem with studying ahead of time is that if I already know the material, I tend to not pay attention too much in class since I already know that stuff. Also some of my teachers teach things differently that what I learned and then I have to change everything I know

I use all those tools you mention in the video and I was very successful in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Maryland College Park in early 1990's. Going to college is a full time job and students must be motivated at all times.
Very very good advice and so so TRUE!! I have found since I studied with your videos ALL SUMMER and SPRING!!! I have gained a better understanding of the Math..especially the advanced algebra..Thank You soooo much for your videos..they have tremendously helped me..You are so right about staying in your studies..I was so confused in the beginning now it is making sense to me..and since these past few months Ihave literally crammed about 3 years of Math I used to be afraid of Math...only because I didn't know how to do the work..nowI am like I just want to tackle the problems ya know??.. so crazy..man I am such a happier person ..I dont feel like a failure because I quit school a long time ago.all I do every single day is ..I just work over and over the work in my algebra books and watch your videos over and over..It starts to get embedded in your brain. I wish I knew all this in high school, I grew up in a messed up home where I was beaten alot and I had no one to help me with my homework so I gave up and it just ruined everything for me, I ended up with mental problems because of the abuse. And every time I would try to get my life on track something would get in the way of It I would end up in the hospital, I had a baby but she was taken from me due to my mental disability . I had to deal with that trauma now I am just so behind in everything related to school because of it, I am trying to create great study habbits, I am studying for my G.E.D. at home and it's hard to understand everything but watching this guy help with math is incredible I am getting better at problem solving. I want to get back in school and study hard and do something more with my life. But it's a lot harder now that I am older. I wish I could just get up in the morning and just study, but I get so tired that I just turn on the TV and lay there some times, I used to be homeless on the street and I was diagnosed with perinoid schytzophrenia where I was hearing voices . Now I don't hear voices and I am not homeless on the street and I think my body is just trying to recover from everything I have been through before it can catch up to studying again and to the rest of the world, any body has any advice. That can help? Thanks by the way for all this great advice I just wish I knew all this and didn't go through what I went through so I can be better in school

I have written 5 professional exam .-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i failed for each time I took this exams. for the 5th attempt, I was frustrated. I decided not to take the exams anymore. However, in March, 2018, I travelled to see a friend who just took this same exam without stress, so i wanted to know the success story and why mine is different. He actually told me he was introduced to someone who can get answer key and change grade. To cut the story short, I took the exam now and I have passed the exams without nobody would ask me how I did it but does it matters? All I know now is that I’m where i want to be. i will appreciate the effort of cognitivehacks on instagram

I’m getting ready to go off to college soon, my parents and my sister who’s in college tell me all the time that I need to balance my fun between parties/fun and schoolwork. When a couple friends say they want to go to a party and I have a test tomorrow ima turn them down and study. There’s times where you can have fun with friends but college is definitely a different stage in your life, nobody will baby you, you have to learn how to live on your own, keeping up with your schoolwork will also be harder as well since you don’t have your parents to constantly look over your shoulder. To sum this up, keep the practices your parents taught you at home, when you leave for college don’t change. You can MATURE but don’t CHANGE.
