I know this is an older review but I just want to throw in my experience with this watch. I ride an ebike to and from work through a very busy industrial area. A few weeks ago I was hit by a car on my way home while wearing this watch. The bike was ruined destroyed, the guys front bumper was broken where he hit me, I tore my rotator cuff and got a concussion from the impact. The watch got a single scratch and the accuracy is still almost perfect. I cannot recommend this watch enough.
2 notes: 1. I own this and the VWI edition. You can regulate these miyota 82S0 movements to +-1s a day if you spend the time to get it right. I was able to do this on both without a time grapher 2. These watches are not WWII era designs - that’s a common misconception. They’re actually Korean War -> Vietnam war era military watches MIL-3818A. As always love these reviews. I gotta say I like the cream dial a little more for every day wear. But it’s all preference! These are definitely my favorite watches in my collection at the moment. I recommend a horween leather strap or green -> tan nato straps with these.
Thank you for that. The WWII field watch definitely has some visual differences on the dial design. And yes, I too have accurately regulated my watches to within +/-5 seconds a day using a timegrapher. I usually get the beat error down to as close to 0.0 and then regulate the watch in positions I mainly have my wrist. Crown up, crown down. Dial up, dial down. I’ve found that Miyota movements tend to come better regulated than some of the non-Swiss competition in my experience. A friend recently bought a Samurai. It was horrendous. Luckily I was able to get the beat error down to 0.1 milliseconds and the regulation down to +/-4 sec. I can’t even buy this model in Australia, it’s not even on the Bulova site, which automatically changes to the AU version of the site and displays only models that the authorised distributor/wholesaler here sells to retailers.
@@whatsstefon nice! Cool to hear your experience with the time grapher. You can buy on Amazon I’d hope! That or use a vpn and set your geolocation to the US
I totally agree. I regulate my automatics based on how ...I...wear the watch. Timegrapher is nice....but doesn't get as close as I can by gently adjusting and wearing them. My Orient, Steeldive and Ratio II ( MYOTA 8215) are all adjusted to about 1-2 seconds fast. If I lay them flat....they lose time....which makes them lose 1-2 seconds....as accurate or more so than my Casio quartz watches.
Teddy, I found that the leather nato is one of the best straps that I have recieved in a below $500 watch, and it goes very well with the look and feel of the watch. Great review
I want to not love Bulova but end up buying them. I guess watch loving is more than just following the crowd. Especially when budget is tight, Bulovas are always there along my Seikos and Tissot. Great review, as always!
Just ordered mine ($240 from Amazon) instead of almost $500 here Bulova Canada. I was thinking on getting the khaki automatic but don't really wanna splash that much right now.
Got mine today. Very cool watch, easy to set up, read and comfortable to wear. Not impressed with the band and have already ordered a replacement. An important dimension that is never mentioned is the distance from spring bar to spring bar, very important when buying a strap, mine is 42mm. I’ll rotate with my Hamilton Khakis and Invicta Divers, all automatics. I agree with your Lume comments, better than many at this price point. Good video, thanks👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Teddy thank you much like always given impressive information about the time pieces you presented. Bulova is not a brand that call my attention but this time piece is a very nice one to add into my collection. Something to think about. Thank you Teddy
Well it is an automatic, what do you expect about accuracy, then of course to service these kind of watches has a very ridiculous cost more than the watch itself.
@@morlowski out of the box, unregulated movements of any brand whether Swiss or Japanese, can be anywhere from the extremes of the stated accuracy to well within cosc limits.
Hi Teddy, i love vintage ww2 watches, but im affraid about radium story! Tell me if a watch with radium watch is safe, i want a Roamer super shock vintage.
It's always good to hear your views on a wide variety of watches Teddy from different price points. I love the cathedral hands and the at a glance readability should be great.
We lost Jimmy last night on the front line. What happened?! The enemy could hear the Miyota rotor winding his watch from 3 miles out and they called in a mortar in right over his foxhole. All kidding aside, it’s a great looking watch.
Cover you at every single type of scenario is one of the most absurd statements I have heard in some time. Not that long if you continue to listen. This level of hucksterism on the credulous never ceases to amaze as I admit even I was taken in when presented with an object whose purchase may satisfy a need that I didn't know I had and that could never be satisfied. The notion of the continued purchase of a series consumer objects as a salve for whatever you believe is missing is more related to an excess of production.
Wow, a field watch with 30 m water resistance and a mineral crystal. Screams rugged and durable to me. And it's powered by a Miyota 8 series, yaaay Just pay around a 100 more and get yourself a Hamilton Khaki field if you have to have a vintage-styled field watch. Or one of Citizen's solar-powered field watches for half the price. Bulova turning into a nostalgic cash-grab brand is painful to watch. All form, no substance.

How will you remember what time you were hit if the watch keeps ticking after your concussion?

The white face and the black face are both from the VWI, just a different caseback on the white face
Bulova has never been on my radar … until now.
Great simple watch. Thanks for sharing.

I purchased this watch at Joma Shop for $195.00 USD
Lots of love for Bulova recently on your channel
Definitely carving out a niche for himself by covering any and every Bulova. Not sure it's a good niche though.

Captions say Teddy Baldstar LOL
You just made me imagine him bald, lol.
I only hear Teddy Bulbasaur every time
I think I’ve viewed nearly 25 videos from this channel in the past two weeks. Time to subscribe.

I have this watch and man I love it the leather strap is beautiful I wish I could put the same on e on my Hamilton khaki mechanical
Simple and clean, I really like his one as much as the black dial Bulova military hack I just bought (which you also reviewed).
Ohhh, I DO like that! Love the vintage looking “Bulova” logo on the dial, classically cool!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well, Sir!
Great review. Your videos are outstanding.
Teddy, will you be reviewing the Longines Dolce Vita sector dial?
Teddy thank you much like always given impressive information about the time pieces you presented. Bulova is not a brand that call my attention but this time piece is a very nice one to add into my collection. Something to think about. Thank you Teddy
It would be helpful if you'd mention a typical accuracy of a given movement
Well it is an automatic, what do you expect about accuracy, then of course to service these kind of watches has a very ridiculous cost more than the watch itself.
@@romybuenaventura3133 Compared to other automatics, not quartz. Certainly 4R35 is a different story compared to say 2824

Also YT made me aware of your comment right a moment ago..

Thanks for video, great watch and amazing history the A11 Bulova watch. Thanks Teddy.
wassup teddy!!! happy Thanksgiving!!! 🦃😎👍
Hello. Do you know when was the bulova hack watch released to the market ?
Great review, thanks for sharing
I think Bulova did this better with the 63a121 gemini accu-swiss years ago. This does look more the military field watch though. Love these videos!
I love this one
Good job Teddy!
Thanks for video, is a great option in the field watches of entry level. greetings Leonardo
Trying to decide between this and the Nodus sector filed watch.
I see this video with the same watch on my wrist
How is the crystal on this, can it take a bit of a beating?
Wish they had this with a flat sapphire crystal.
Can you compare this to the Hamilton Khaki?
This watch is available on Amazon right now for $230.
I just picked one up on Amazon Canada for the equivalent of US $182. It should arrive tomorrow.
@@finesse49 how was it?
1:49 you stated 40 mm case measurement … I got excited for a moment 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
In the video you said it was 40mm but the chart says 38mm.
hi teddy, does this movement have a ghost date position?
I have the vwi; looks great, lume is good, mvmt is ok.
Where hell is it made?
Wearing the military hack now 🤓
Great Video
Looks cheap. Miyota movement, mineral crystal really?
Love M.T.L Canada Merci

Not my favorite, kinda bland, not a fan of the check boxes on the markers
Another inaccurate movement...........
