@@ledzepfilm oh, thanks, i do some collor correction in guns n roses videos, in my profile has a rehearsal from 1989 before they op for rolling stones in L.A Coliseum
Once again, thank you to Paul and his brother at the DFW Rock Show for making this happen as well as The Genesis Museum and The Pink Floyd Research Group! If you have any unheard or unseen audio, photos, or video of Led Zeppelin you'd like to share, reach out to dogsofdoomliberations@gmail.com!
Amazing quality and upgrade. This was the era when there were snippets of songs and not full versions like today with our phones or even in the 80's and 90's with video cameras
Shocking how healthy and relatively non-skeletal and wrinkled Jimmy looks here. Compare with the end in Oakland, in July. He aged ten years during this tour. Not saying this as a troll - I'm a Zep fanatic and the 77 tour is my favorite by far. Thanks so much for posting.
I film concerts by myself and know the problems with this topic. The camera is well focused and Eric has once again shown his special skills in synchronization. Chapeau and salute from Spain!
This is really high quality footage. Thanks. Amazing the gems still hiding amongst private collectors or in basements and attics! You've done great work with Led Zeppelin's unofficial stuff.
Did you camp out to get you seats? I spent all night at the convention center to get good tickets (row 17). I'm the longhaired, homeless looking guy with a sorry mustache @2:09 th-cam.com/video/pC6yGi4r88o/w-d-xo.html It was an awesome show!
@@2lucky1957no I had ticket connections back then and had a close friend that sold tickets so I would give her cash and she would pull before they went on sale to public. I did wait in line a few times but having connections was so very handy!
DO NOT WORRY about not finding original audio or any sync problems you perceived...YOU have done an extreme service to the whole fan community. THIS FOOTAGE IS ASTOUNDING!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is simply unbelievable footage!! The film quality is so sharp and life-like. THANKS AGAIN!!!
The quality of this 8mm is amazing! As good or better than my circa 1980’s VHS copy of RAH from Toasted. All the 8mm stuff from back then was marginal. This is so far beyond that.
The video's audio is actually from Oklahoma City 4/3/1977, the second show of the tour, since there's no audience recording so far of this first night of the tour for Dallas 4/1/1977.
Aha! Love the way Plant (like a pro)side kicks that huge spliff at the beginning, now ‘that’ is a real gem of a capture! I’d like to see his reaction when/if he see’s this!
This footage is fantastic. It was obviously done with permission from the band. If only there was more footage like this through the whole tour. Thanks for making the flown in audio work. The average viewer would never know for most of the footage. Hopefully the real audio exists: audience or soundboard.
@@ledzepfilm Amazing, Peter Grant and Richard Cole must've been too preoccupied with first night issues to do something. This filmer must've been very apparent. Fantastic footage. So glad it exists. Now hopefully just as awesome audio exists, soon to surface. You may have inspired someone to release it soon.
Also, one big reason this looks so clear as I can't stress enough with people even today videoing with their cell phones you need to make sure the lens is clear. Someone asked me why my pictures were turning out so much better than theirs when we were taking pictures. I said "Wait." I wiped off their lens and boom perfect pictures.
Okay, so according to the Reddit post this was filmed with a regular 8mm spring wound Bell & Howell "Electric Eye" home movie camera with auto exposure (it did an excellent job!). I was beginning to think this wasn't Super 8 as you can just make out the sprocket holes at the top and bottom left. Super 8 would be in the middle. The peculiar thing is this video is 18fps. The Bell & Howell Electric Eye camera ran at 16 fps. Maybe a different model was used that did run 18fps. But after watching a video on this camera, to my amazement, you could load 5 ASA film in this camera! That would be extremely fine grain high resolution film. They used some sort of film to that effect. Also, the filmer in the post said they shot 3 rolls of film. At 16fps, that would mean 12 minutes of footage was shot. That means this is only half the footage. Can't wait to see the other half! Now if we could just find a good sound source. Hopefully it exists!
@@ledzepfilm oh darn. So maybe that post on Reddit wasn't legit. He said he shot 3 reels. And three 16fps 8mm reels are 4 minutes each making 12 minutes of footage. Glad to have this that's for sure!
The way artificial intelligence is advancing, I don’t see why it won’t eventually be able to generate the rest of the show visually, and match it to the bootleg audio. Even a full virtual reality replication… two years ago I would have laughed at such a notion, but AI is shocking me every day lately, with what it is now capable of… and the rate of improvement is insane.
From the first seconds backward soccer kick you can see Plant's broken ankle has healed nicely since car crash when his wife drove the car into a tree.
Waited in line two days for tickets to this show. It got down to 7 degrees. The morning the tickets went on sale a bunch of people came and crashed the line. Wound up getting eighth row center, should've got first row, but, oh well! John Paul Jones's bass was so overwhelming I had to go to the side of the auditorium to get away from the sound. It felt like a bazooka to the chest.
What's amazing is this is 8mm. Super 8 more than likely. Could pass as 16mm. Must've used a low ISO speed film. Maybe ISO 100, 50, or even 25? And used a super fast, high quality crystal clear lens. It's perfectly exposed. What was the aperture set to? I don't see any blurring so the shutter wasn't super slow. Probably was an XL camera to do this with a slow speed film. And what camera was used? It did a great job! Do you know what brand of film and speed was used? Or take a guess? I'm big into photography. This makes me want to try out Super 8. I'm used to cruddy looking images from Super 8 but this is gorgeous. Haven't picked up a Super 8 since 1980 using my parents camera when I was maybe not even 8 years old yet. Still have it too. I'll have to check it out. Now if it was only 1977 and I could sneak it into a Led Zeppelin concert. That would be the Capitol Centre btw. 😉
I implore you to hold a camera still from the near front row of a Led Zeppelin concert as a teenage fan with Peter Grant possibly watching your every move. Come on…
Glad to have coloured this beautiful footage for you. Truly one of the best 8mm films I have ever seen!
So it's not "Super 8" but is 8mm??
@@HardRockMaster7577 Yes definitely 8mm based on the sprocket hole spacing.
how u colorize this footage?
@@yagogarcia9483 The footage was already in color. Nuff/TPFRG did color correction/enhancement on it.

By the time you get to the last few weeks of the tour, Jimmy doesn't look like he's washed his hair in months. Really greasy and matted.

OK so Jimmy was playing the mandolin in '77 and not JPJ? also hilarious Bonzo just sitting there waiting for his percussion
Page played mandolin on The Battle of Evermore. JPJ played it on Going to California.
Very cool. How long till consumer available "AI" will be able to construct a complete visual concert from any bootleg audio or video source?

What stands out to me the most is how healthy Page looks because it is the first night of the tour and the heroin had not yet gotten a hold on him.
