In this video, I am joined by world-ranked senior skater Ekaterina Kurakova to attempt to skate one of the step sequences of Yuzuru Hanyu. I picked this step sequence as it was the first thing that popped up on youtube when I searched for Yuzuru Hanyu. I have since seen his new program appear on TH-cam and wished I would have skated this one instead. But unfortunately, I had filmed and edited this video before Yuzuru Hanyu performed at the Japanese national figure skating championships.
We show and describe all the different figure skating steps he does, then give it a go ourselves.
*In full disclosure I have to add that I am a fan of Yuzuru Hanyu. It was super fun to skate this program, and the video was made for entertainment purposes.
Don't forget to subscribe to us and turn on notifications to stay up to date with all of our releases.

It is so cool to get a breakdown of what we're looking at in terms of step sequences like this as well as loved the bits about ice dance as well (which will help even just understanding how to watch ice dance honestly). The explanations are at a level that is easy to understand for those of us who are trying to get past diagrams of a Choctaw on ice but for which the rest is usually beyond comprehension. I don't know how long it will be before I get to a stage of trying to do some of these myself but it's super motivating to watch and it's gonna to make watching skating more enjoyable too. I have decided after two years of thinking about it and finally building up the courage that I want to take up ice skating. I’ve worried a lot about starting as I also have a back issue but as I struggle with that pain I miss performing, exercising and just doing something for me. I came across your videos and found them so helpful. Im starting out on a course of lessons at my local place and going to take it from there but wanting to go each week myself to progress. Any tips would be appreciated as a beginner. Im going to focus on stretching out too as over the years I’ve really tightened up by not exercising that much. Thanks for your uploads. Im going to start your videos from the beginning and use these on my journey. Take care, sal

@@IceCoachOnline is it realistic for an adult skater who can pass the British moves in the field tests (now called British Ice Skating Skills) to be able to complete this sequence?

Que díficil es la secuencia de pasos y saltos que realiza yuzuru Hanyu...
Por algo es el mejor patinador del mundo 🌍😍🫂✨✨⛸️⛸️🏅 🏅 ✨✨

Yassss #jasonbrown but please don't injure yourself! As throwing out the back at our age takes fucking two weeks (from personal experience; I was moving like an old lady from a rushed toe reach for two long ass weeks). Thanks Ekaterina!

1.17 "Did he just raise the middle finger to the judges."
    I WISH HE WOULD HAVE😩
The scoring atrocity done against him is just insane. The way the lowball him in everything and praise mediocre skaters is just so......... Clownery........

Umm, I love this video and it convinced me to join your patreon! Do you know what step sequence I would love to see you breakdown? It would never get levels now but Philippe Candeloro's 1998 Nagano's Free program - he skated to the Three Musketeers and simulated sword fighting for his straight line sequence on the *back* of his blades. I still think about that program regularly, 23 years later.

You are sooo good, thank you for breaking it down, reading you are a fan of Yuzuru (as we all are) I can't stop thinking of YOI, Yuri's skating Victor's program 🤩⛸💙

Fun! As a fan but not a skater, I'd love to get a little more explanation about what makes things hard or what's easier than it looks, maybe what to look for in different performances... It sounded to me like you were saying the stsq wasn't that hard, but then all the comments are exclaiming at the difficulty (and I have no idea what frame of reference anyone is using, haha!) But maybe more of your viewers are skaters, idk 🤷‍♀
And not that I want you injured, but Jason is the skater who got me to start watching the sport, so... yeah, #JasonBrown 😆
