I have to admit, point shaping feature on the water pot is excellent, but that ribbing feature you also get with ordinary plastic disposable drinking cups for picnic, that you buy 50 for less then a buck.
do you reckon the ridges on the bottom may also contribute to collecting pigment sediment and stop it from being disturbed when you shake your brushes back and forth in the water?
The assembly handle is actually pretty nice for pewter models where you need to hold bits for awhile. Too bad GW stopped making pewter like 10-15 years ago. At least this'll make assembling my warmachine a lot easier!
Interesting the base of the handle isn’t wider, seems like it will be easier to fall over. Good point about the foam base. With plastic models that set very fast with cement, I’m not sure the assembly handle is very useful.
I got both of the water pots. I love them both but the bigger new one i really love. For me the waterpot is a must have and i like the handles alot 🤙🏻 great video bror!

Yeah hard plastic clamps on hard plastic pieces will more often than not result in a catapult. Wrapping a bit of of tac around the piece solves that though. However then you get the next problem: there is a bit of flex in the arms. When you let go of the arm after bringing the piece in position, they can spring back half a mm, ripping apart your joint if the glue is not tacky enough.
The arms with clips would really help with light, thin big models like nighthaunts or nurgle flies wich are quite difficult to drybrush because of their thin and fragile ending at their bottom. Just finished some kurnoth hunters and their branches were so painful to paint without snapping.

I have used it and i like it. I have a similar device that is heavy and not as easy to manipulate- i think the ball fittings are better. I used the clips to clamp a couple bits that were giving me trouble- they are gentle and worked as intended.
Just thought I would let you know that my xl paint handle holds my 32 mm and 40 mm bases just fine with the inner most 4 points where I don't think it was meant to hold bases. I cannot add a pic or I would
I would only get the xl handle if I know that most models I am going to paint are on a larger base. The assembly handle could be usefull for glueing metal or resin or even some plastic miniatures that have trouble glueing. The water pot seems very usefull since putting your brush in your mouth probably isnt good for your brush
The bottom half of most water bottles has ribbing. For the large paint handle head, lay your models on their side and use both hands to hold it open to clamp on to the base.
I was on the fence about the Citadel Water Pot but after seeing your demo, I'll pick one up next chance I get and it beats using little glass sauce jars.
If they released the top without the paint handle then people would complain that they had to buy the normal paint handle in addition just to get a handle for it. Selling a handle with the XL top was the right choice.
Came for the review Left feeling sad about my terrible ultramarine model painting skills! 😂 Seriously though! I’m hoping to be able to paint good models like you!
I now have a headache watching this video, soon as I seen spikey bits I should have realised that it would be full of the silly observations that don't mean anything to most normal people
bit late to the party, i didnt know that the handle could come off and is the same thread as a camera mount, looks like im gonna make a new mount for my painting desk so i dont have to hold the handle
Stands with dual alligator clips and heavy iron base cost $5 on Amazon and I need several water cups which are all free reused items... and also make great brush stands.. spend that money on more paint
$8 for another small plastic water pot and they didnt even give it a box. When I ordered mine I thought I got a used one because it was just in a loose grocry bag. Little did I know they just said fuck it and thats how they sell them.
Okay the handles are just terrible but that cup is awesome I have the habit of putting the brush into my mouth all the time and sometimes not meaning to still with paint on it now I'm going to have to get that cup thanks for the review brother
I agree. The XL handle... WHY? the bases are at 60mm and larger are so easy to just hold yourself. The clippy arms who cares. But the water pot is genius.
What a waste of plastic, both the assembly and painting handle using the same handle piece. Like you stated why not release the top sections separately? Hardly environmentally friendly. Why don't GW release a pack with one handle and interchangeable sections on the top? Tbf the water pot does look good though.
I just use a one-time use plastic cups as they have ribbing inside and can just be thrown away when to dirty. I put them in a hard plastic thumbler for stability.. The groves between my phalanges (finger joints) for making the tip on the brush works good. Just some tips..
So many adverts for a short video is ridiculous, plus your volume is MUCH lower than the many ads, which is a real pain in the ass having to reach for the volume button every 2 minutes...
Me, no, I am not upset about it, sorry if I gave that impression, and I can see why you would think that. You were either incorrect, which is no big deal, your toy soldiers, however you enjoy them is however you enjoy them, or you were doing so to be ironic. Either way, not a big deal. Have a happy holiday. :)
2:30 - see how finnicky that is? Over engineered as hell - I'll stick to ole reliable which is my 3d printed handle. basically a pill bottle. cool review on the other things though
Legit it’s not finicky. It’s absolutely perfect. The issue is he was being super stupid when putting it in because 80mm is supposed to go in the top notch not second notch.
Good review but am I the only one here thinking “I’ll just use an old mug/food jar, glue my miniatures together either by hand or with tweezers like I always have done and just hold the base of the miniature as I paint it. All for, eh, $0”
And what did Modellers use before these gimmicks came out of GW's brain, they used vices and their hands, so to me this is purely a money maker that I will not be buying!

IKR ffs who wants the model detaching from the holder? Then he complained about the spring tension. I for one dont think its that bad and I wouldnt want them to be cheap and use a weaker spring and risk the model falling out.Smh.
ikr, so cringe
The handle with arms has added bonus of being an Ork Killa Kan right out of the box lol.
The two notches in the top/front of the rim are meant as a one brush rack I believe.
glad someone else saw that xD
Anyone else wanna see a armed painting handle Looted as a Killa Kan? 😄
Heh... Someone on the Ork Facebook page did a deff dredd
The water pot is a "nice to have" since we can use almost anything to store our water. The XL handle is cool. We have a bunch of the standard handles and they work great. The price point is an eternal issue with GW. As eternal as their "eternal war" ;)
Thanks man. I just bought the water pot and chucked my old Mason jar. Also picked up another handle.
I´ve been using the same joghurt pot as a water pot for 11 years lol
Hubby got me one (water pot) for my bday last week. I love it. Well thought out. The only improvement I would recommend is a more transparent color.

The water pot does work and i love it . and i'm thinking of buying the holder, i mis my righthand and always looking for a good way to hold mini's for painting and airbrushing.
Why didn't you use the top notch for the 80mm... you don't have to force it into a smaller gap. There is loads of travel on the top notch
The second handle seems like it'd be useful for me as I always paint the models separate parts first before assembling them
You missed one thing with the pot. You can lay a brush across the top indents
Oh cool I never thought of that!!!
@@spikeybitstv technically that means GW *already* has a Citadel branded brush holder.
What if you clipped a brush into each arm and it started painting the mini for you lol
Lmao it's a Tau painting drone
I love how he's very meh about the model holders but is super stoked on the glorified Dixie cups (for real tho I want that pot)
personnaly i think they should try to rethink this tool, and add somekind of a trigger in the pommel for opening it, that could be eassier to use.
That blue dreadnaught looks dope.
would have been worth just trying the larger based mini in the handle seen as you had it right there, I for one wanted to see if it would pass or fail...

Exactly.
Oh my God that dreadnought is gorgeous
do you reckon the ridges on the bottom may also contribute to collecting pigment sediment and stop it from being disturbed when you shake your brushes back and forth in the water?
The part of the brush where it meets the holder is the ferrule. :)
glue on armiger head on the assembly handle and you have yourself and admech
The assembly handle is actually pretty nice for pewter models where you need to hold bits for awhile. Too bad GW stopped making pewter like 10-15 years ago. At least this'll make assembling my warmachine a lot easier!
Yeah it would have been a godsend for the old Gazkull, abbadon and give tyrant models
Interesting the base of the handle isn’t wider, seems like it will be easier to fall over. Good point about the foam base. With plastic models that set very fast with cement, I’m not sure the assembly handle is very useful.
you would probably be best off with glueing the assembly handle onto a base
Thanks for the look

The assembly helper seems kind of useful but poster tac is probably still the best way to go because you can turn anything into a handle with that.
how much for a water pot?
i use an old Dowe Egberts coffee jar........the good thing is they have a good seal so they are also perfect for keeping my turps in for my oil painting.
Good review. I would not have purchased the water pot but I will now as Christmas gifts!
Don't give GW any ideas. They might release $12.00 paint handle table stand next batch.....😁
Thanks for the heads up on that acrylic paint brush holder, just snagged a pair on Amazon!
Yeah hard plastic clamps on hard plastic pieces will more often than not result in a catapult. Wrapping a bit of of tac around the piece solves that though.
However then you get the next problem: there is a bit of flex in the arms. When you let go of the arm after bringing the piece in position, they can spring back half a mm, ripping apart your joint if the glue is not tacky enough.

far too many adverts for a 13min video
I thought the arms with clips would be pretty cool for holding glued stuff together with slower dry times?
I have used it and i like it. I have a similar device that is heavy and not as easy to manipulate- i think the ball fittings are better. I used the clips to clamp a couple bits that were giving me trouble- they are gentle and worked as intended.
Supposed to. I use mine for dinosaur thumbwargaming. The clamps look like pterodactyl heads
10 out of 10 review, still putting brush in my mouth though....
Came for the review
Left feeling sad about my terrible ultramarine model painting skills! 😂 Seriously though! I’m hoping to be able to paint good models like you!
I now have a headache watching this video, soon as I seen spikey bits I should have realised that it would be full of the silly observations that don't mean anything to most normal people
3:27 - Slack message. Seriously thought it was on my end xD
Yeah sometime i forget to mute lol.
You can clean your brush when you get paint in the metal piece. Just use denaturated spirits to get rid of it, even if its dry paint down there.
Is the brush cleaner still available to be found? I cant find it anywhere
Brush Cleaner & Monument Brushes (Formerly SlowFuse): bit.ly/MonumentBrushes
3d printed a handle. Work great
Not sure on the products you were reviewing- but that Primaris Dread rocked.
Wonder if I should get the large one to paint my penitent engines on. Lol
I think the removable handles are for paying extra for a different sized handle
That dreadnaught was lit
I say. If it it wasn't an Ultrasmurf, i'd have bought it.
Gw is like the Apple for miniatures
if you swing his arms around, it reminds me a lot of claptrap from borderlands...i even imagined his gleefull voice when you did it :D
They could have used detents or even a pin to retain the handle's arms in the open position.
bit late to the party, i didnt know that the handle could come off and is the same thread as a camera mount, looks like im gonna make a new mount for my painting desk so i dont have to hold the handle
The water pot is the only thing I would buy here
Stands with dual alligator clips and heavy iron base cost $5 on Amazon and I need several water cups which are all free reused items... and also make great brush stands.. spend that money on more paint
The water pot i might pick up
@5:55 bingo! That is what I need it for!
If it fits well in the wider ones use those!
What exactly was that brush cleaner?
Looks like isopropanol or whitespirit. If you mean the brush soap. That's masters brush soap. You can take any brush soap. Cost about ~$2
If the assembly handle might be really good for assembling Infinity models
Indeed. However (soldering) hands hands usual have 4 hands to hold onto things. So you can do 2 models at once.
$8 for another small plastic water pot and they didnt even give it a box. When I ordered mine I thought I got a used one because it was just in a loose grocry bag. Little did I know they just said fuck it and thats how they sell them.
I liked this for the titanicus
Okay the handles are just terrible but that cup is awesome I have the habit of putting the brush into my mouth all the time and sometimes not meaning to still with paint on it now I'm going to have to get that cup thanks for the review brother
I agree. The XL handle... WHY? the bases are at 60mm and larger are so easy to just hold yourself. The clippy arms who cares. But the water pot is genius.
@@SWIFTO_SCYTHEIts comfortable to hold and can make things easier airbrushing.
Those holders have always, and continue to, intimidate(d) me.
My local place had no water pots left. :
I dunno why but that assembly handle reminds me of an ork Lilla kan.
What a waste of plastic, both the assembly and painting handle using the same handle piece. Like you stated why not release the top sections separately? Hardly environmentally friendly. Why don't GW release a pack with one handle and interchangeable sections on the top? Tbf the water pot does look good though.
where is Warter?
All of those things are bad boys.
Its a ferrule (the metal part of the brush)
You sir saved me a Google now I can spend that time in the Incognito mode 😉
WHAT NX ,,,A BACE BALL CAP WITH BEER HOLDER'S HAHA,ANY GLASS JAR WOULD DO TO CLEAN MODEL BRUSHES 👍
I just use a one-time use plastic cups as they have ribbing inside and can just be thrown away when to dirty. I put them in a hard plastic thumbler for stability.. The groves between my phalanges (finger joints) for making the tip on the brush works good. Just some tips..
You actually sold me on buying that damned cup.
I hook the base to one side and push while pulling the other side away by hand. It's not rocket science.
So many adverts for a short video is ridiculous, plus your volume is MUCH lower than the many ads, which is a real pain in the ass having to reach for the volume button every 2 minutes...
I would drink my Mountain Dew out of the water pot
Wow, how he butchers pronunciation of "Custodes"
thats funny cause i have a big army of them as well. whoops.
Didn't watch the full video. Did he pronounce them "Custardes"?
He pronounced them "custoads" instead of cust-oh-deez"
and my hair is blonde and the sky is blue. Does it really bother you so much how a say a word lol. Are you having that bad of a day my man?
Your videos seem to have lower and lower volume for me recently.
Fair enough, ill keep an eye on it. thanks!
Jen's Drunken Goop appears to be no more. Not a page on their web site lists the stuff any more. Like "poof."
Hey James! All our SFG / Monument products are now on the creaturecaster.store site as we complete the move in our new partnership. Goop and all!
Model will pop out of the XL holder
Good review but am I the only one here thinking “I’ll just use an old mug/food jar, glue my miniatures together either by hand or with tweezers like I always have done and just hold the base of the miniature as I paint it. All for, eh, $0”
Whacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men!
kinda overprices lmfao
GW in a nutshell buddy. Ya new to the hobby?
Yes it's GW, so over priced tools. But they have some merit in their effects/technical paints and certain washes.
I lost brain cells watching this.
the "assembly handle" is fucking ridiculous.
Absolutely but the painitng handles are fine af.
All these items seem gimmicky to me. Also, way too expensive for what they do.
still dunno why this music in the background, annoying at times, maybe its just me
And what did Modellers use before these gimmicks came out of GW's brain, they used vices and their hands, so to me this is purely a money maker that I will not be buying!
No offense, but do you wipe with leaves because that's what people did before TP was invented? Do you know what innovation means?
Aye nothing beats wiping your A with a Dockin leaf, if you can find one large enough!@@MrDrTJ
I prefer Maple myself.....
I use a helping hand with a swan neck. Cost me 5 bucks in the electronics store.
@@athollmcnicoll256 i am a gum leaf enthusiast
All overpriced junk.
