Basically you can't rely on the NPCs to do exactly what you want to recreate the trailer the way it was shown. I've never played 3's campaign, but I assume Ben K means replayability as in a new experience every time like enemies acting different in levels you think you would have memorized
and obviously Halo is no RPG, but you'd be lying if you said you never reloaded a checkpoint before just to make sure a friendly NPC who isn't scripted to die (but can depending on circumstances of the gameplay with you involved, or not) stays alive with you for as long as possible.

Well call me overly optimistic, but I think there is still chance for things to turn better. I mean 343 has gone through complete and utter change in management, leadership and otherwise and to Microsoft/Xbox leadership, Halo is still their flagship franchise. I mean lets look at the positives from the last game and which I think most people can agree on: 1) the gameplay was fun as it has ever been 2) The campaign was right step forward from Halo 5 even if it didnt hit all the right spots, it was still step forward in the right direction 3) the soundtrack/music was still great Ofc heck of lot work needs to be done to get Halo back into the position it once was. I mean everyone from back in 2007 remembers what it felt like when Halo 3 was the most hyped game of all time by that point. The feeling was through the roof. Maybe we wont ever again experience something like that with Halo, but I dont see the future as bleak and dark as some people do, because I like to look at things objectively and what changes are going on in the background. Im still willing to give 343 one more shot because the 343 that made Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo Infinite basicly is no more. The studio has gone through such major change, that basicly the only thing same there is still the name. Whether that will lead to good things only future will tell, but thats something I want to say to everyone who is back here watching this trailer

I think it had a lot to do with the custom games in halo 3. Man playing fat kid, duck hunt, cops and robbers, etc. until the early a.m. was one of my most favourite things about the game. I'd say 90% of the people on my friends list, although many have since stopped playing, are from just joining friends custom games and just having a blast with a bunch of random people whom you've never spoken to before.
I remember getting my original xbox and playing thru Halo1 and 2 in early 2006, what would be my first year of middle school. I thought they were the best fucking games of all time. Then like a month later the teaser for this game came out. I was so happy that I'd finally be there for the launch of one of these games. everyone I knew got an Xbox 360 that year, and while we would play the OCCASIONAL 360 game, 90% of my friend list would be on halo 2, gaming it up late at night every damn weekend. Xbox was a whole fucking system made to sell people halo. When school started all anyone talked about was how fucking amazing halo 3 was gonna be. Now when I saw this trailer at e3 2007 I lost my fucking shit. This trailer is too fucking hype for words even as I type this. I literally must have watched it 60 times leading up to the release of the game...and god damn did it deliver. Everything came together in halo 3. In my eyes halo 3 and cod 4 are the last truly epic games of their video game era. Those games delivered on so many levels that even modern games struggle to meet. They were imo the last games where I had a real sense of community. people were loyal to those games, and always came back to them for the next few years. Games would come and go but they were here to stay. For those 3 or 4 years halo was the king of console gaming, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. I will always look back on that period as the best time, in my experience, to be a gamer. Hope you enjoyed my little story about how I became a halo fan. I won't ruin it by talking about the new games.

It's the Star Wars of gaming. Bungie makes Halo: Combat Evolved never imagining how successful it was going to be. There is a reason why that subtitle is there. They really thought it was one and done. They get the go-ahead to make Halo 2 and Bungie is excited and daunted by the task. They have to one up what they did last time and make a story, universe and lore they never thought they had to explain. Also, stakes are raised, it's Microsoft' flagship series. It has to be good. They pull it off with blood sweat and tears. Halo 3 is the end as far as Bungie is concerned. It's not Return of the Jedi though. It's everything they learned from the community and ideas scrapped in Halo 2 thrown together in a loving send off which, let's face it, never needed a sequel. The Halo 3 documentary in the Legendary Edition confirms that Bungie was done with Master Chief. His story is over and it shows as he goes back into cryosleep, where his journey began. ODST and Reach don't fall into the Star Wars analogy because, although prequels, comparing them to the Star Wars prequels is a disservice to Bungie and those two games. Then the creator of Halo (although his contributions are limited) goes off and makes sequels for money. Bungie says no. Bungie is shown the door. And the Destroyer is born.

Tbh I was bit disappointed with the visual side of Halo 3, because I was honestly expecting for that E3 2006 announcement trailer quality 😅 Still Halo 3 hasnt aged that badly aside from characters faces and facial animation. I mean for example Mass Effect and Crysis did it much better in 2007 and even Half Life 2 from 2004 Anyhow I wouldnt call them insane cause Halo Reach in 2010 already looked much better and what I was honestly expecting from Halo 3 already

I didn’t have a 360 when it came out but I remember watching this trailer 100s of times! I finally got my 360 in summer of 09 and played it for the first time being absolutely blown away at just how good the graphics were and how incredible it was to play! By far the best Halo ever made! 2007-2010 truly was the golden age for this franchise!
Revisiting this in 2023. I’m not sure if it’s me just getting older (26. Halo 3 came out when I was 11), but games just aren’t good anymore. The golden age of gaming was definitely between 2006-2012 and that time has passed. I miss when games used to be made with such passion that Bungie had.
It definitely feels that way. You don't see people lining up for midnight releases of games and even having local news networks reporting on it like we had for Halo 2 and Halo 3.

My personal favorite Halo game. Even if the story wasn’t as good as the first two, I still loved the epic scope and finality it had. It had the best gameplay IMO, and the multiplayer was what got me into online gaming. Without it, I wouldn’t have done the epic matches and met awesome friends I made over the years.
I remember how exciting Halo 3's launch day was. I was watching it live streamed on my tv from new york city. There were thousands of people lined up to get this game, activities and just all kinds of hype. I miss those days when we would line up until midnight to get our games. It wasn't the wait, it was the build up and anticipation that excited me the most. Digital games are great, but could never live up to the hype that halo 2/3 did back in the day where you had to go to a brick and mortar store to buy it.
I remember when people in the high school I was at, always talked about how awesome Halo 3 is going to be. This game will always be in my memories. I still hope 343 puts Halo 3A as DLC.

At a certain time, you could have live action trailers(Landfall), actual game footage trailers, and faux historical videos all together to make something truly epic and transcending. That was Halo/Bungie. I’m so thankful to have grown up through those years and experienced those games.
I will always remember the fateful day pre-ordering this game at Target, getting this game even before I got my 360 a month later. I made so many memories with friends playing the first 3 installments of Halo and watching this trailer I still feel that hype in my heart just as I felt back when I see this so many years ago as a 13 year old boy. I am 28 now, hard to believe this game i spent so many hours playing the campaign over and over again just to watch the ai fight eachother, listen to the soundtrack or just enjoy the atmosphere of the environments the original bungie team crafted and put together so perfectly, is now over 15 years old. this trailer brings tears to my eyes knowing its officially dead this year in 2022, but those around the same age as me.. who experienced this with me in this golden Era I want you to know, we may not know each other but this game made us brothers and sisters. This game and the memories it gave us is ours forever and I'm happy to say I, with the same GT wuunderboy, was there from the beginning to end.
It almost makes me tear up to remember how excited and happy 10 year old me was when it came to new video games. I had a hard time sleeping the night before Halo 3 dropped I was so ecstatic. Now video games have no meaning to me and the spark has died, but I still cling on to these happy memories and am very grateful for the good times Halo has given me :)

Halo 3 was the best halo game ever..atleast for me..i did so much with friends and online players.. got all achievements 1750/1750..reached 5 Star General. my fav clip i had was when a guy throw his grenade to me and i throw it back to him and he died.
This was the first Halo game I played and what a game it was! Played through it 3 times and it was because of this trailer that I wanted it! I'm no expert of the lore, but when your give us this kind of trailer, "Screw the lore, I'll read about it later! I need to play this NOW!!!"

Today. 9/25/2020 Marks 13 years of halo 3. Best campaign out of all halo's i remember. Multiplayer however, i wasn't good enough. Thank you bungie.

I remember coming home from middle school watching this trailer everyday. man 2007 was a great year for gaming.
I didn’t have a 360 when it came out but I remember watching this trailer 100s of times! I finally got my 360 in summer of 09 and played it for the first time being absolutely blown away at just how good the graphics were and how incredible it was to play! By far the best Halo ever made! 2007-2010 truly was the golden age for this franchise!

Revisiting this in 2023. I’m not sure if it’s me just getting older (26. Halo 3 came out when I was 11), but games just aren’t good anymore. The golden age of gaming was definitely between 2006-2012 and that time has passed. I miss when games used to be made with such passion that Bungie had.
Glad I'm not alone in feeling this way.
It definitely feels that way. You don't see people lining up for midnight releases of games and even having local news networks reporting on it like we had for Halo 2 and Halo 3.
What about rdr 2 black mesa dark souls skyrim doom 2016 or doom eternal?are they not that fun?

Looking back after 14 years, I’m kinda surprised that the E3 stuff actually looked like the game unlike most modern titles.
My personal favorite Halo game. Even if the story wasn’t as good as the first two, I still loved the epic scope and finality it had. It had the best gameplay IMO, and the multiplayer was what got me into online gaming. Without it, I wouldn’t have done the epic matches and met awesome friends I made over the years.
This was the best FPS ever made

I remember constantly watching this on my computer as kid back in the day waiting for its release
I remember how exciting Halo 3's launch day was. I was watching it live streamed on my tv from new york city. There were thousands of people lined up to get this game, activities and just all kinds of hype. I miss those days when we would line up until midnight to get our games. It wasn't the wait, it was the build up and anticipation that excited me the most. Digital games are great, but could never live up to the hype that halo 2/3 did back in the day where you had to go to a brick and mortar store to buy it.
God how I wish I could go back. I miss my childhood so dearly. All my friends. The purity of it all.
I remember when people in the high school I was at, always talked about how awesome Halo 3 is going to be. This game will always be in my memories. I still hope 343 puts Halo 3A as DLC.

At a certain time, you could have live action trailers(Landfall), actual game footage trailers, and faux historical videos all together to make something truly epic and transcending. That was Halo/Bungie. I’m so thankful to have grown up through those years and experienced those games.

I will always remember the fateful day pre-ordering this game at Target, getting this game even before I got my 360 a month later. I made so many memories with friends playing the first 3 installments of Halo and watching this trailer I still feel that hype in my heart just as I felt back when I see this so many years ago as a 13 year old boy. I am 28 now, hard to believe this game i spent so many hours playing the campaign over and over again just to watch the ai fight eachother, listen to the soundtrack or just enjoy the atmosphere of the environments the original bungie team crafted and put together so perfectly, is now over 15 years old. this trailer brings tears to my eyes knowing its officially dead this year in 2022, but those around the same age as me.. who experienced this with me in this golden Era I want you to know, we may not know each other but this game made us brothers and sisters. This game and the memories it gave us is ours forever and I'm happy to say I, with the same GT wuunderboy, was there from the beginning to end.

It almost makes me tear up to remember how excited and happy 10 year old me was when it came to new video games. I had a hard time sleeping the night before Halo 3 dropped I was so ecstatic. Now video games have no meaning to me and the spark has died, but I still cling on to these happy memories and am very grateful for the good times Halo has given me :)

10 years ago... 10 fucking years... i played halo 3 first when i was 7... best game ever, the moments passed omg it will remain as my favorite game ever played. Halo 3 was the best halo game ever..atleast for me..i did so much with friends and online players.. got all achievements 1750/1750..reached 5 Star General. my fav clip i had was when a guy throw his grenade to me and i throw it back to him and he died.

This was the first Halo game I played and what a game it was! Played through it 3 times and it was because of this trailer that I wanted it! I'm no expert of the lore, but when your give us this kind of trailer, "Screw the lore, I'll read about it later! I need to play this NOW!!!"
