The Technics SH EX1200 is still a good scratch mixer today and you might be able to pick one up cheap if you look around. I found mine on Ebay and have been using it for years without needing to replace the crossfader. There's so many new mixers being produced these days and choosing one is always a personal preference so it's best to try them out if you can at DJ stores before you buy...

Im so happy; i just finally nailed a 2 click orbit with my LEFT hand cutting the fader. Last year, i couldnt even cut a baby scratch with my left hand on the Xfader, but now i usually lead my hiphop sets on my right deck instead of the left deck. Seems like a lot of scratch DJs only stick to one side and cant really scratch well on both sides. You just gotta step outside of your comfort zone and stick with it and get your weak hand strong as well.

Yo Angelo, youre the best man! Your tuts are by far the most precisely and detailed explained Turntabelizm learning recource! I turned the tables years before YT and never really got the chance to learn that great art without the must to go to the jams! Now cause guys like you I can! Thanks a lot

There are so many lousy turntablism / DJing videos on youtube; it's nice to see someone who actually knows what they're doing and are able to explain the techniques clearly. Thank you very much.

this tutorial is awesome! Most people explain it as two clicks and thats it... but you break down whats happening during each click and that makes all the difference on how it sounds. Thank you for all your efforts into this!

Thank you, I appreciate your efforts more than I can say in a comment. You have propelled my abilities in a great direction and I owe much of my current and future success to you.

As amazing as these tutorials are to learn scratching, the best thing about them is when he lets his hands go over the beats at the end and absolutely wrecks the decks 🔥🔥🔥

big true, i ve started to cut with the left on the crossfader just few months ago - after 6 years of scratching only on one side and i can tell this is the best way to push the level and become more universal tablist (because of hand and fader control). Nice thing (little schizofrenic) is that you can make "battle" between your left and right hand side :D

Ive been stuck on trying to do this 2 click flare for almost 2 months and not getting anywhere / losing to love. Watched this tutorial again and realised how your stab / chirps just before you started demonstrating over the beat were so tight, that Im not ready for this shit yet! I went back to my tables and practiced chirp, stab and baby combos and feeling inspired again.!

Its intresting when he speeds up that hand movement is diffrent that most djs. Not so much of a pinching movement . But move of a rocking of the hand. Been doing 2 click orbits for about one year now. Only just starting to feel natural. One of the best all round DJs turntableist in the world! No idea how long he has been practicing this amazing art form.

Hey there Angelo. Big fan. Love your videos. They have been very informative in fact i have basically picked up all basic scratch skills thanks to you.
I have a question about the 2 click orbit. It's hard for me to tell in this video but it looks to me like you are you using a single finger for this movement. Would it not about easier to use 2 fingers and use them like a crab movement??
    Thanks!

The Urei 1601 is an amazing mixer for scratching on in my opinion, I got through one xfader while I was first learning to scratch (back when I was stupidly heavy handed) - but the line faders in the mixer are identical to the xfader and take maybe 5 mins to switch round, so it effectively comes with three x-faders for you to abuse!!
Like Angelo says though - try and test a few out, everyone's taste runs different!

@DJAngeloUK ive seen many scratch tutorials online... and they were either to short or too confusing. for example, qbert's diy 1 dvd. he explains the scratch in 10 seconds, and shows the scratch hamster style as if that isnt confusing already. this by far, is the most comprehensive.

Awesome series of videos, Angelo. You've been a great help and an inspiration. I borrowed some numark mixtrack controllers about a month ago and have been putting in a couple of hours or more a day. This evening I sussed the two click flare. Strangely enough, I've held back trying to even try it, since I've been working on building speed and consistency with the one click flare (which is hard!). Then, suddenly, I can do the two click easily and at slow and fast tempos.
Can anyone answer this question: I'm typically right handed and naturally first played around with vinyl turntables instinctively using my right on the record. But for a month now I've mainly focused on using my left on the jog wheel and weird as it felt at first, the control has come progressively...but which side should I be biased?

So if I can scrape some money together. ..Any recommendations for some equipment that would be good for scratching for me to have a look at? like something for a beginner if anything like that exists?.
