I found myself getting very frustrated by halfway through the video. You showed you had Lighroom on the iPhone. I think you know that this can be used as an alternative camera app instead of the Apple camera app?? When you were expressing some of your frustrations, especially with long exposure, I was wondering why you didn't switch to Lightroom to take the photo. This is more of a "pro" camera app with the controls you would expect. In fact it has a basic mode and a pro mode. Here you can adjust the shutter speed like on a normal camera (I'm on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and it should be even better on the 15). So go for half a second, adjusting ISO as needed, and go for it. It's the computational photography of the Apple app that was frustrating you and getting in the way. But of course, for a handheld night mode shot, even with stabilisation the sometimes 2 or 3 second exposures are treated computationally to minimize movement blur. This computational 'help' doesn't exist in the Lightroom camera app and it is much more like using a normal camera, albeit on a phone. What's more, the resulting files are native Adobe RAW files that slot straight into Photoshop or Lightroom on your laptop or desktop after airdropping them from your phone.
This is extremely helpful I had no idea! Very new to the mobile side of things so wanted to focus on the native camera app in this video but that is VERY good to know thank you!
Love this video 🤩 not sure if anyone has commented with this detail but the reason you’re able to do handheld long exposures on iPhone is due to the way it takes them. It takes a series of photos one after another like a video and then stitches them together. The iPhone then keeps the consistent parts from each photo (buildings, roads etc) and then duplicates the bits that change (light trails, flowing water etc). This is why you don’t get as smooth lines with lights or water as you would with a mirrorless or DSLR camera which opens the shutter for the full exposure. It’s a very clever way of doing long exposure without needing a tripod or steady hands!
Thank you! Yea I heard about this but apparently (haven’t tried yet) if you take a photo using the Lightroom app you can take it in the same way of just having one single long exposure without stitching as you get full manual control
Though I really love your travel videos, there's something comforting about a good old-fashioned London POV video, I find, so I was happy to see another one! The phone images are definitely impressive and I really liked that tip/experimentation with the prism! I don't think I ever would have thought of that. Anymore such fun tricks planned? 👀 (And that other Jimmy's art tho, wow!!)
Thank you! Yea feels nice to do London vids, back to the roots and all For the mobile side of things I’m curious which of my camera gadgets are transferable (all the various filters like star and diffusion) so might experiment some more w those as well
@@JimmyShixin I’ve collected over 30 filters over the years and can use them all. I run a FaceBook group where many of us have found different solutions both DIY and commercial products.
wow, how did you get those grey-ish / blue-ish (like in min 8:44 or min 17:06)? i just found your channel and this is my first video i watched from your channel. subbed, to see an in detail video of colorgrading this shots ... well done, really wel, wow ^^
Hey thanks! Easy answer would be “try my presets” haha but of course go ahead and try replicate this look, for the blue / grey kinda vibe I’d say play around with colour temp (making it colder will make it more blue) - then if it’s too blue adjust the hue and / or saturation sliders in the HSL section Hope that helps!
@@JimmyShixin in the past years I have bought a lot of presets. But I found out, the work only if the settings and scenes are the same. Is there a video where you showcase your presets? For example 5 pictures and you use every preset (at once) on each photo…. 🤔

Can’t wait for more photographs with iPhone!
Great work Jimmy. Only just found your channel after watching a lot of Mike Chudley. Love your work :)
Thank you and welcome! He’s actually one of the main reasons I got into TH-cam in the first place
oh great! I really enjoyed the videos you both made on swapping cameras! Inspired me to pick up a A6400 for my birthday at the end of this month!
Love this vid. You’re so good at phototography. Keep the good work up🎉🎉
Thank you !!
good work❤
Loved the video mate! inspired me to go out and do some phone photography!
Thank you man! Looking forward to new content

Great video. Very entertaining
Interesting content, thank you. Consider using a phone case that allows you to add variable ND and POL filters for more satisfying results.
Thanks! Working on a DIY rig for this actually so I can use my existing filters instead of buying new iPhone specific ones

Yes we want a full video about your presets 😅
What app do you use to edit photos on your phone?
I use Lightroom app and use my presets (feel free to check em out on my website) to quickly edit the shots
How can I get your presets?😊/

If the rumors on the 16 pro max are true I cant wait to upgrade my 13.
What are these rumours saying? 👀
@@JimmyShixin mostly the dedicated, physical multifunction shutter button. Also big upgrades to all the sensors
