  • I came to a new spot on the Yakima River and found access to some gravel bars I haven’t been to. I found jasper, chalcedony, agates, carnelian, agatized wood, and more. I am in central Washington. I was especially lucky in a place where a channel was artificially deepened recently so all the gravel was turned over and fresh.

I went to this spot yesterday. I had some good success for only being there 30 minutes. It was a short scouting trip. Love your videos.

Yeah? That’s awesome! Glad to hear it and also that the gate wasn’t closed. I went back one day and it was locked for some reason. It’s kind of a hidden spot. Glad you got some goodies!

@@gunnarnizzler I had to turn around twice to find the turn off to get in there. Gate was open, I hope I don’t get locked in someday. I found two big agates there, one is the biggest I found to date. I’m going to check out other spots you go to. We must be close by each other I take it.

@@sailorman1011 Dang, nice! It's a pretty good spot. I think because it's so hard to find/there aren't any signs on the main road that it doesn't get much traffic. I'm glad you had success there!

What a great rock hounding video! You found some beautiful rock
My favorite is the pet wood you found at the end
Check the internet for a Gem & Mineral Society near you. They usually have equipment that members can use to cut slabs and polish rock. Good luck!

Thanks Nancy! Good to hear from you 😄 I actually just mailed off my application to Yakima rock and gem so that’s exciting, I’ve been dragging my feet haha. Can’t wait to get cutting

More beautiful Central Washington Agates. Keep up the good work Gunnar. We enjoy your videos and actually visited one of the creeks you visited. (Soup) This area may be next!

Love watching your videos 😍 I am still relently searching for hills and creeks with carnelian. I live in Gresham and spent most of the day driving around hills in Goldendale and didn't have time to go to Yakima Canyon or somehow find terrain where you've picked up such beautiful rocks. Everywhere I wanted to search was fenced off. I also don't have a permit. Anyway, ended up at my favorite spot by John Day Dam for agates. I'd love to go on a super cool carnelian adventure. I'm disabled but hike well with my Nordic poles. Which is why the desert like flatter hills where you go appeals to me. Great shares and love your rockhounding shares. I'll be moving in late summer so Iam obsessed with finding carns. Thanks Gunner!
