Although I live so close by I have only visited Yeovil once. Thanks for the walk around once again. As you say, there are some interesting and lovely buildings there. I really hope that they complete the roadworks soon and that Yeovil will be a lovely destination town once again. Taunton and Wellington are nice towns worth a visit and not too far from Yeovil. If you are in the Taunton or Wellington area for a day out sometime I may see you. If I do I will say Hello! The meal at the Manor looked lovely!
How is Yeovil. So much of England is flooded this January 2024. I plan to go to the ancient villages and towns in England. I shall have to wait until the summer. Is Yeovil flooded
If anything the works have got worse. So many empty shops. Let’s hope things will improve when finished which I believe won’t be until the end of the year ( I hope they meant this year !! )
Ive seen a video from Tauton before this one abaut yeovil ( i lived in both towns between 2004 and 2009) and one thing i notice in both videos, was the lack of people, even on the high street. At the time, from 10 am till 8 pm there were much, much more people shopping or just walking around. Many more. Lots of children with their parents, much more Alive, lets put this way. And another detail that i noticed,a lot of closed/empty shops, just borded, for sale or renovation, but many closed commerce. Signs of the Times, maybe.( Brexit side effects,i guess).
The decline of town centres across the country has been going on for years. The rise of Tesco, Asda, Morrisisons and the like started it off. Do all your shopping in one place and no need to pay for parking in the town.
@@kenvoysey8222 Exactly, it was sad to see Beales close, but the owners of the building shouldn't be allowed to let it turn into an eyesore, waiting for someone to come along to pay an extortionate rent. They should be required to keep is in good condition and in keeping with the town.
Your level of knowledge is astonishing when you want to do public filming but know so little about the subject. Poundland took over £1 shop hence closing one down. Also it’s not roadworks at end of town as it’s predestination only and they are building a fountain. Not that long ago Beales closed and needs more than TLC it needs a bomb to smarten it up.
Thanks for watching Ken and the observations that you have made. Your local knowledge is appreciated. Is the fountain now finished? I should be over again in the summer and look forward to seeing all of the improvements completed.
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca you call them improvements we call them a waste of money. No water feature yet and more shops closed and the council are hiding somewhere.
@@kenvoysey8222 I am from Stoke-on-Trent and it is the same there. The council waste the tax payers money. It is a real shame because Yeovil is in a beautiful part of the country. I walked past the local MPs office, but it was closed. People need to be encouraged to vote at the next election.
Yeovil has gone to crap now, Willcos has gone, dunellm burnt down, glovers walk is being ripped down (and they don’t know what to do with it next) buss station cafe is gone usc is gone. Still road works everywhere but they have now finnished the new bandstand. to be honest the only half decent bit is the queedam. Unless you want coffee or a charity shop or bad jewellery there is nothing rly here anymore.

We do like Taunton, but I don't think we have been to Wellington. Another place to put on our list. Thanks.
Many thanks for showing us your day with the family and grandchildren in the sunshine
Keep safe and well
Thank you Neil.
Found you showing Yeovil where my family come from ....I am born in NZ and love looking at my roots places I come from...thanks
Glad you liked it
Thanks for the video.
Just noticed your up to 7.49k subscribers 🎉10,000. 🎉By the summer 🍻🍻🥂🥂
The number of subscribers has gone up a lot recently.
Such a nice looking place.
We'll be back later this summer.
‘The vision of a city’, went the mantra.
We are in Staffordshire and Newcastle and Hanley are the same.
That would indeed be cool!! I notice from correspondence I've received that they are setting up a Music Lodge in Shropshire!😊
We have had a couple of visits to a lodge in Shropshire, Caer Caradoc, in Church Stretton.
Hey! I used to go there all the time!
We are regular visitors in the summer.
The church in Yeovil is so beautiful, your video last year was great.
I need to go back and have another look. It is an interesting building.
Cheers for the video.
Our pleasure
Enjoyed your vlog with your family
Glad you enjoyed Carmel.

The town of Yeovil is OK, but there may be some flooding in the surrounding areas. My daughter tells me that it is very cold!

We'll be there in August to take a look.
Road works that go on forever is a way to funnel public money to private contractors.
Yeovil seems to be non-stop road works. We'll be back in a couple of weeks to see how they are getting on.

It seems to be a similar story in many towns across the country.
Yeovils shops were closed long before Brexit.

@@nigelmartin9116 Brexit has been a farce but you can't blame it for Yeovil shops closing
Looks a nice place.
They do need to finish all of the roadworks.
It’s a dump and even the charity shops are closing.
@@kenvoysey8222 It needs a lot of work, but there is potential to make it a nice town.
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca what potential it used to be ok but businesses are moving out highlighted by beales.

I live in Yeovil and this town has been a disgrace for ages. I haven’t been in town for ages only to get the bus out to Yeovil Junction station.
It is sad to see how it becoming. We will be over again in July to see what is happening.

WOW just seen your food and deffo won’t be eating there it looked very average and over priced. You could of had better at spoons for half that price.
The Manor is always one of our favourite places to go in Yeovil. I don't know Spoons.
