Araneo really need a TLC, lookwise and abilitywise. I want them to look like giant whip scorpions or Sydney funnelweb spiders. They dont need to climb walls or anything but make the passively produce silk or they and spit a bola like web. Or there web could act like a zipline.

I agree with buffing webs, as a good angle, I'd also let them walk in any direction/add a huntsman like dash where you hold down the jump button and dash in the direction you're looking. Maybe give them more speed aswell. IDK why but the spider just feels prime to be used to make a tame that is all about cool movement options aswell as movement restrictions put on your enemies, atleast would make for cool pit fights with riders on spiders dukeing it out. Just my take.

I feel like a tlc should foucus on the idea of moment. Adding versatility to the spiders movement with wall walking and a unique charged jump. Moving the spider in a short dash more so then a leap, this would go in the direction you're holding the move stick/button when you release. Make the web status prevent jumps and consume stam to walk to restrict enemy movement. I'd raise weight just so you can ride armed and armored with lower encumbrance. And optionally, a new attack that would create a sort of naturally decaying zip line. It would work like the crossbow shooting it, but with a cooldown to be used again. This would also of course let spiders walk on vines and ziplines. The web could also restrict creature climbing speed and not allow ziplines to be used on it. Maybe increase decay speed with total weight on the line at any given moment.
Kracken Better Dinos Mod Makes these one of the best tames in the game. The only part they lack is melee damage but their actually base attack range is longer than Carnos without a mod, In Krackens you can climb on walls, so basically sit on the wall and kill anything.
The spiders are my favorite and with they had more bugs/insects you could tame.

@@cthulhucultist0666 hey (dose youtube really flag the word idiot) bug is the most general common man term for anything insects or worm like out there. So they are bugs in every relevant sense of the word.
I feel they need some TLC.
I feel like a fun tlc for this could be like a torpor venom attack, like the bite but with a small particle effect so it's easier to tell which one you're using, climbing on walls like a rockdrake ofc, hanging from the ceilings on threads which they can use to latch onto things with c probably, latching on would increase damage from a bite attack or the torpor one, which on their own aren't exceptional things, but together could realistically take down a giga without a taming pen
The hardest part of taming an Araneo is getting it out of the cave alive. In my gotta-catch-'em-all solo playthrough on the Island, it took me several attempts, which kept resulting in nasty things respawning before I could get out and ripping the Araneo to pieces. They are fragile as hell.
I feel they could be useful for base defense, even just putting them in sentry mode could be good

Phlinger Phoo, dude I've been watching your videos the past few days and they're amazing. Thank you for putting in so much work with these basic guides. I do have a question on the Spiders though that you do not cover in the video. It's that when you are mounted on one that you don't aggro any creatures. This comes per the wiki and the wiki says it might be a bug. Is this a bug and/or true? Does it also work outside of a cave? Also would you recommend using a spider with lets say a partner to help tame dinos with it's web attack?

First. Never trust the wiki. Always test it. That may have been a thing but it isnt now.

can't you just tame one of these in the cave if there isnt anything else around?

Every saddle I put on my Uni or all the Equus, don't let me craft anything. They work for a day at first and then bug.
