🧐 I have been watching the evolution of interfaces since the very beginning, and as far as the lower-cost affordable devices go - this series of components is the finest offering yet. The better build quality is very encouraging for the longevity of them, and the features and functions list is really not surpassed in this price bracket.
As an older veteran of this field, I’m personally happy to see that it’s SSL that has developed it.
    😎👍👍

I have the UF8/UC1/UF1 combo and as an ecosystem it works fantastically! Agree with you on the price point but the SSL Meter plug adds some solid value and the jog wheel has some mass and feels like one you'd find on a larger console.Nothing about it feels flimsy and the buttons have a response.

I have the UF1 and the UC1 and I have to back up everything you've just said. They ooze quality and the cherry on the cake for me is the integrated 360 software which comes free! Because I also have the SSL12 interface 360 is even more useful. 😎

Out of the x touch or the faderport single controllers, which would you say is the better ? As the ssl is out of my price range ?

My Faderport stopped turning on after two years. It's a doorstop now. and it happened out of the warranty period. It was good while it lasted though.

Hi Dave, I´m a Cubase user ( ever since) and recently kinda smashed my CC121 controler so I started my search for a replacement and stumbled over your channel where I was already subscribed to. Your videos are by far the most in-depth and easy-to-understand-videos! Thank you for that. Since I´m from Germany/Europe I cannot support your channel via the Sweetwater link, but I would if I could. In Mrch 2024 there´ll be a big update of the SSL 360° software and I really hope you make an update from your point of view. After watching their preview about it I think they covered a lot of your mentioned cons.

Hi Dave. Thanks for these series of videos. They’re very informative. I’m in the market for a DAW controller and I’m considering the X-Touch, UF1 or UF8. I’m just a hobbyist but I want to improve my workflow and I also like having knobs to control my plugins. I know you mentioned that you prefer the SSL controllers. If you can only have 1, would you go with the UF1 or UF8? Thanks.

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

If I had to choose, I would choose the UF8 because ti can do all the same things the UF1 can do and it has the 8 faders. Here is my SW link if you decide to purchase from Sweetwater. It helps support the channel. Thank you in advance :)

With Midi2 soon to be integrated into DAW software my advice to everyone would be hold fire and wait and see. THe build quality of the SSL gear is without question but its use of proprietary software is. Midi2 will revolutionise communications between DAW software and hardware making this range of gear obsolete

Hey Dave. I have 2 UF8s and use Logic Pro. I always use 360 mode rather than DAW mode. Is there a way to set it up so that the left UF8 only has the channels on it and the right UF8 only has the track stacks (ie. busses) on there?

Dave , I have one question which I can't find a definitive answer. Not even in the UF1 manual. I have a Faderport but it only writes volume automation. You can set it up to whatever parameter you want but as soon as you touch the fader it switches to the "volume" parameter. Lots of people have asked about this and no one has an answer as to why. Can the UF1 write automation for more than just volume? I like to automate lots of things such as effects parameters. Thanks for the great videos btw!

  • @rickomuzik

This may be a dumb positive thing about these SSL devices, but the fact that the connections are under the unit verse sticking out of the top side is huge for me as I am not losing that real estate space.

Thanks for the great videos!!! New subscriber to your channel. I am using the UC1 and UF1 in Luna. I am a retired analog engineer but wanted something in the box that sounded close to analog for my home studio. How do you think the SSL channel strips compare to your SSL board? I never worked on SSL I mainly used API and Trident TSM consoles. Also do you know if it's possible to have the UF1 follow the UC1 when going channel to channel?

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy

SSL plugin channel strips do have a similar sound to my console, but its not the same and I can hear a definite difference for sure.

Thanks for such an honest review :) Really its NOT real worth to it if you already have the UF8 & UC1 unless you got plenty money to spare and nothing else to spend it in. I think they, SSL, just "play" with the fact that they know that anyone owning the other two units will like to complete the setup with this 3er product. Im not saying they did intentionally AT ALL, but a mix of both: intentioned/unintentioned. I think they could perhaps have provide some sort of discount to whoever can prove that they own the other two products though that would make not much sense under a company perspective point of view
