Mitch, you are the master of demo videos. No one else is close. I ordered my UF1 today from Sweetwater. The UF1 will join in the mixing/mastering station in my studio - with an SSL Big Six, Fusion, Bus+, UF8 and UC1 with Neumann KH 150 and KH 120 II monitors.
This is the SMARTEST low-ish budget hardware interface for a DAW yet conceived of. These three pieces (with 2-4 UF8 units) finally gives users a SERIOUS recording/mixing desk. As an older studio rat who started working in 24-track studios in 1983, I’m really glad to see it coming from SSL. But that’s just a sentimental thing on my part. 😎👍👍

I am soo happy they that they came out with the UF1!!! Not having Transport Controls is why I was looking else-where for a controller set-up!!! Now that being said, two things are stopping me from investing into this setup, one, their is no visual feedback like custom channel coloring, and two, no separate channel metering option (like the Avid S1 or Dock)!!! But still, the UF1 has made me take another look at the SSL possibilities!!! Thanks Mitch!!!!
I’ve been beta testing the UF1 for months and its is now a permanent feature of my system which is exactly the same as what is on show here. The UF1 is absolutely incredible and is the missing piece of the jigsaw. SSL killed it with this and the 360 software is stunning. Don’t think about it, order it. It’s a game changer!!
Now with those controllers, we need racks of digitaly controled analog modules (preamps, eq's, comps, routing... - racks like the McDSP atb-16). It would be quite expensive but we could expand the console over time and mix on huge analog ssl consoles in a bedroom, with total recall
i love my Setup from SSL with a little support from "MPmidi Model 2A" --> 2x SSL UF8 + UF1 + UC1 with 2+ interface and for haptical & touch control of plugins in "Presonus Studio One 6" the "MPmidi Model 2A" and NI KKS49 + Maschine3 ... and the Neumann KH120 + KH750DSP ... thats all I need to have a lot of fun inside my little Intel box 😁😁😁
Really surprised to see that SSL didn't put backlights on the labels for the UC-1 to be able to read them in dark rooms. Both UF-1 and UF-8 are both backlit perfectly for all parameters, but not the UC-1.
I own 2 UF8 - rack mounted with rack kit left and right side of my mastering desk with 3 racks in sweetsop’s and 12U and have another racked uc1 in the mid - on the rack kit there’s much space left and right so the rack kit have a big plate left and right - seems like ssl lack the size of combine uc1 and uf1 together in a rack size . So there’s no space for me to get this unit, if I check measurements both together are minimal more than 19“ - correct me if I’m wrong. unit is interesting but if it can’t live in 1 rack size on 6U together with a uc1 it will be deleted from my analog list.
@@rytmigo they cant. Both units are more than 19, seems like they don’t think about it . The weird part is that UF8 is 19 and a uc 1 also have this possibility , I don’t get it why the engineers overseen this feature - awful and this will erase it from my list .
Hi, Jack. Great question. Your best bet for that would be to look into the SSL outboard gear such as the Alpha Channel or their various 500 series preamps such as the VHDPreX and 611EQX2. Hi, Chris! Thanks for your interest. The Plug-In Mixer and other SSL plug-ins can be mapped to third-party controllers, just like any other VST plug-in. However, they won’t have the same seamless integration as the SSL controllers. 360 won’t detect them automatically, some features like the UC1’s automatic focus won’t be available, and you’ll probably have to manually map some of the controls to get the results you want. I hope this helps a bit - feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, and thanks again! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com

Hi, thanks for your interest! I’m not totally sure I follow what you mean by “tracking up,” but I’ll do my best to answer here, and you can feel free to reach out to me directly for further clarification. You’ll really get the best results from these controllers during the mixing process. They don’t have audio I/O, so you’d need a separate interface to track through - and the plug-ins included with the controllers run natively on your computer, so they wouldn’t be zero-latency for tracking purposes. That said, this is a really useful platform for controlling your DAW as if it were an analog console during the mixing stage. You can even link up to four UF8 units to get 32 faders that communicate with your DAW in real time.
