I wish I was more careful with this figure. The right combiner hand's index finger broke off on me. I don't have the issue you mentioned with Blast Off, but I think I ended up being more careful because I saw that issue with the combiner hand. I do agree, this is a great set. Much better than I anticipated. It just hits all the right marks for me.
I am with you on the tight tolerances, they are Brutal! A forward tilt for the feeeeet would have been nice. Aside from that, he is a great combiner. That was an awesome pose in final thoughts man!
I really like these guys, I do. I would love to have them, but, Iron Factory is another rabbit hole, and I do not need another one of those. But damn, they scale so well with Legends class, and look incredible. Hopefully once I get my Zeta Bruticus all finished, I will be over the want to order this guy. Must...resist...the urge! Maybe I should paint today, I have not painted all month, and you painting the throne in the skit reminded me it is a solid day to paint and stay away from ordering this guy. Solid review, Bobby!
Nice short review, I just got the last set and as you said, the look is great, it’s a clean design, the articulation is pretty good etc.. but god damn! Those tolerance are a nightmare I end up with sore finger tips after transforming them all to limb mode, that and all the sharp edges are the only flaws I found. But still I’m in love with figure :P
They make some amazing figures and I love collecting IF stuff but yeah, joint tolerances. They're just far too tight for such small joints. The plastic quality is solid enough so the things not just gunna shatter but the force you have to use sometimes, and in such small areas/joints can be a bit scary.
The feet pieces also have toe-tilts that hold up in poses amazingly well, but to be fair I didn't discover them until two weeks after I got them either. This is my first full third party combiner and it feels good to finally have one, especially one that holds up so well. Granted I did end up taking a dremel to some pieces to loosen the joints a bit, they're scary.
Man, I wish these legends class figures came out before the Classics line, I would have been all in on completing a G1 collection. But alas, I must strive on and finish what a started :)
Bobby got them extreme hitchhiker thumb bends. 01:06 and 01:30 Did he smash his left thumb with a hammer? Somebody buy this fella a set of gloves for reviews. Maybe make it velvet gloves so he doesn't create so much carnage when transforming figures, Maaac.
Awesome review Mr. Skullface. I actually bought this figure. It was really nice and really friggin cool. Then after two days as I was placing him in a relatively easy and not sk straining pose on the figure, its legs popped off. At first I thought it was a joint part but no, it was the peg and it snapped off of my onslaught. But i am glad your or Robert D's figure of this bruticus is holding up well. I must have gotten a faulty one or maybe the tolerance was really bad on mine lmao.
i like this...i will wait another 2 months to see if any company make a oversize version down the line but it look promising. If i do get this set...i will make sure to add a lil oil to sum of the joints

My only real complaint (aside from the to be expected Iron Factory tolerances) is that I wish the arm connection was a better system. I haven’t really had major problems with mine, they stay in well for the most part, but the small two tab system is a weak point. With the legs and feet having such great connections the arms feel like a throw away design wise. Even still, I LOVE this set! The Brute head on mine was incredibly tight too, I just loosened the screw in the back and its smooth as Marvin Gaye’s voice now!
Same tolerances, better joints. Never had any stress marks even after a year of rough play. (aside from what's supposed to be Onslaught's knees, but that's my fault.)
totally agree with you bobby! it's a great set, but dang those tolerance issues man. I may have to double dip in the arm bots due to stresses and things when i transformed them, certain transformation joints etc are just way too tight on pieces that arent quite durable enough to take the pressure of moving it. Also the fingers although well articulated are way too tight as well, you can make a full fist with them but because theyre so tight no one should do that. I tried that myself and ended up with stress cracks on the finger joints on one of the hands (also why i may consider double dipping on those bots, and i also like vortex and blast off bot modes alot). Other than that the only other issue i have is the right leg, the hood of the car comes untabbed whenever i try to bend that knee, not a huge issue and def not one everyone will have. overall, great set just everyone should be aware of the major tolerance issues that plagues iron factory i suppose.

I’m thinking of getting the Black Gorira Jr.’s even just to army build and maybe sling one of the separated swords over Bruticus’ shoulder. Looking forward for Iron Factory, I’m excited for their Slipstream, but kinda disappointed that she doesn’t have wrist swivel in the promo photos like the other seeker clones. So, I’ve got Sunstorm on the way from TFS. I really liked Slipstream’s character and her color scheme, while Sunstorm is more for the love of his Dreamwave storyline and to have one full seeker mold, even if it’s the kinda Radioactive Mac and Cheesy one. It would also be nice to have color shots of their Jazz by now, but the proportions in robot mode look perfect so I can overcome my usual hesitance of individual carbots. And, Warpath seems a likely addition for the Autobots, though I kinda want to see him fiddled with first. And, as for dreams of the farther future, perhaps Vulcanicus, IDW Victorian, or maybe Megatronia would be nice for future combiners, but I’d really just like a Nemesis (Nova) Prime with his big red broadsword and teal majesty, or perhaps an Iron Factory original take on SkyLynx or... FoC Tryps 🤩
Did you friend get this before Chinese New Year? I hear quite a few people were having QC issues with this, Maketoys Thunder Manus, etc(stress marks), when they got these toys before CNY. It's possible factories in China were rushing some of these out before shutting down for a month during the Lunar festival. I know Iron Factory always had tolerance issues, but this might have made it a little more worse. XD
For me, your final thoughts are critial matter to make desicion on what I could possible buy or not. So thanks for your effort. In other aspect, I'm kind of new with some "term" like "Tolerance Issues" (I don't get very well what is it). Would you mind to give me a breaf explanation, so I could understand it better? When you got to the skit, a off topic question came to mind. Maybe more of a SCU question. Being a collector and artist, Have you seen your habits rubbing off on your kids? My little cousin, she's 7, that lives next door is always constantly wanting to show me her new toys. I think because she saw my huge collection of Transformers and other figures. Was wondering do your girls have shelves with MLP, Littlest Pets, Shopkins, and other toys...have they shown signs of become future collectors too?

I'm not a fan of the way the arms are mounted and I'd hate to have to buy another figure because he broke from tight joints. That being said, I've already gone in in this figure and to me I doubt I'm going to regret it. For Iron Factory's first combiner, this gives me a lot of hope for the DJD combiner, which is unnecessary but awesome at the same time.
I keep trying to drop Iron Factory, I'm at my limit on what I can afford so I have to choose what to actually spend on. I just can't seem to stop on them though. Right now Dai Atlas SHOULD be easy to pass on, but I'm struggling so hard to do so.

I just got the KO version of this called pocket toys bruticus , got it for like 40usd MISB and seems to have fixed the major stress mark issues
