    Q:What camera do you use?
    A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
    Q: How big Is your rotator?
    A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
    Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt's?
    A: No, the carriage doesn't slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
    Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
    A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
    Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
    A: Currently more than 30
    Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
    A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral.

    I've been impressed with how y'all maintain the equipment, and the incidental equipment (dash cam system) you've installed. Obviously great pride in the gear is reflected by the employees.

    I sure hated the day my company took away my peterbilt for a cascadia and then a Volvo.
    But as you said the turning radius along with the visibility when blind side backing out ways the cool factor of the Pete.
    I actually bought one of our old Peterbilt’s to haul my toy hauler, so I actually still can fill my cool Peterbilt fix.

    I was watching a video before this one where idiots in cars were 'brake checking' semis, I was wondering if you ever had that happen to you while you were working?

    Is there a type or brand of gloves that hold up well for that particular type of work and environment? Are there industry/insurance/company policies or is it personal preference? Thanks.

    Towing question, do you have to cross the chains in the rear?

    What? The Blue Pete's decommissioned? Would it be because of the emissions regulations?

    Why do you not use a 20' chain on the front too?
    Then it would be 2 chains, 4 binders and another chain less to put away?

    • @plazatowing
      @plazatowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Each truck is equipped with 1 20 ft chain. Otherwise I would but sometime due to the spacing a 20ft on the front is sometimes just barely to short. Thank you for watching!

    • @robt2151
      @robt2151 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would the 20' chain be long enough to use diagonally - still two independent lashing but with a bit more lateral stability?

  • @ricardologan7767
    @ricardologan7767 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It probably was mentioned before but why did y’all switch to a smaller truck?

    • @plazatowing
      @plazatowing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We still have our big trucks but because we have been getting more and more calls for trailer relocations, scutch most of the time results in tight spots, this truck was perfect for that.

    hi guys how are you I have a Q TO ASK DO FLOAT YOUR GEARS I DID WHEN I drove trucks the company told to float the gears the reason was it saves the clutch cause these clutch cost about1200.00 dollars and labor your looking at matbe about 150.00 to 200.00 per hour that's a lot of money there.

      Negative, floating the whole time. Clutch only to start and stop. Thank you for watching
