Hey man, great video. It sucks that alternator bolt got stripped but it’s good to see tutorial videos where the unexpected happens. Reminds viewers that “it happens to all of us”. It’s a slow process getting these old historic pieces of iron back to proper operating condition. But once you’ve made all of your repairs/mods etc. keeping them maintained and operating is “easy day”. You’re doing a great job and I’m quite sure everyone learns something every time they watch. Even if they don’t, it’s a pleasure for some of us tractor enthusiasts to just see these epic pieces of equipment being wrenched on! Thank you for the “shout out” that was incredibly kind of you and I’m very happy the recommendation worked for you. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to all the updates you have time to provide!
Yeah, sometimes you just gotta keep rolling with the punches. Have some other projects coming up that certainly aren’t pulling any punches. It is what you make of it. Thanks for the continued support!
Just drill out that hole that stripped out on the alternator and put a nut/bolt/lock washer in there. Also may want to move the top bolt out another notch to give you just a bit more room to put belt tention on it...and your probably right that alternator pully needs to be swapped to a wider one for that belt or swap the belt for a narrower one. Another small thing...the wrench goes on the bolt head and the ratchet is supposed to go on the nut. You really only want to turn the nut when tightening them up saves wear on the surfaces under them as they spin.
I ended up just using a slightly smaller bolt for the alternator. If the tension becomes an issue I’ll definitely move the bracket. In a later video I cranked the engine and the belt seems to work fine for the moment. As for the wrenching, it was simply ease of access.

@@NotYourAverageNurse uea....parts are cheap. We have Steiner's here. They come quickly. I got mine for $1,300 a couple of months ago. I got a few upgrades since then.

My 9N is very similar.
I love how similar the 9n, 2n and 8n are. Makes it easy to find resources and make sense of things even if it does match perfectly.
