Unless my memory is faulty (it's been 47 years since I was near one!!) the F-5 canopy was completely manual open and close, no motor. The handle was just for locking purposes.
Artistic license I guess. It does say in the read me text file for this aircraft that it is not 100% accurate but is a personal representation within the bounds of the simulator and his skills.

Sorry. Not AIM54 mate but possibly AGM65s. AIM54 is the massive Phoenix AAM only used on the F14 Tomcat I think.

I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% satisfied with this aircraft in MSFS. I like the fact that it’s a modernized version, but I think you’re better off getting it for DCS.
I would agree that all military aircraft are better suited for a military sim, then you get full functionality.

I have flight model on Modern, not sure why yours is not flying right. I will be flying mine again in a live stream in just over one hour from now so will see if anything has changed since release. Are you on xbox or pc?
@@BrettPlays tried in modern mode ,but it was even more crazy,,i couldnt get off the ground lol!! but i did set my trim to auto,and then it was pretty good,maybe somethings weird with my trim settings,,but what the hey, it was only a 20e model ,sometimes these cheaper planes are a bit dodgy ,,you said something in your video about the baffels?? but i couldnt find any switches or anything to adjust them???I dont know,,,but thanks a million for the feedback,,all the best !!!!
@@mulebaron yeah good you got it working, I had no problem with trim, not sure what setting I already had on.
Missiles? Is this a mod or is there really a way to put missiles in it?
The original file is only available for in sim market place aircraft without weapons due to MS/Asobos rules so the developer put them for free download on Flightsim.to. So these are from the developer and work naturally with the aircraft.
The parachute brake is that light greyish handle even larger than your nose there, up and left in the main panel! Clearly named "Drag Chute" 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah I got it working now, it only come out when the spoilers are on while on the ground and over a certain speed.
It's a shame no wingflex or bonce. looks like it has potential though.
does the F-5 have much wing flex? Has pretty short wings I would not have thought so but yeah I did not see any either.

Very good modeled. Even though it is not a professional model, designers included some important detail they didn't put in the F-5E at DCS. The afterburner flame, at the outside of the nozzle tends being bluish or violet; not orange, in F-5E; as it uses to look in most fighters. It looks simiar to Su-30's or Tu-22's afterburners.
I think I read somewhere that the dev said it is modelled more towards the model F-5S so I might have to remove the E from my title. That being said the developer does say in a read me in the file "This model is an engineered impression of the aircraft and should be considered as a hybrid of different variants, particularly as regards cockpit controls,
displays and moding and switching. Since this model is a flight simulation only it is not representative of the full operational capabilities of the real aircraft"
But Deimos should fix the other aircrafts instead of building new ones. The Griffin is still very awkward to fly - and a resource hog. =/ Good review, though! =)

All the others are also being worked on and will have updates. Some are getting full make over in the cockpits too.
Well 1 release about every 3-6 months is not like Mscenery as they release several each week. This is also just a 1 man dev team, he does it solo.
how do the cannons shoot, 50 cal? targets. do the bombs actually blow up buildings?
I wish. Not in MSFS but in DCS yeah

@@b1bmsgt that's still pretty big, would probably disable a tank and blow an out-house 200 ft. in the air.
@@dabneyoffermein595 thats a negative, even the A-10 gun which is 30mm (normally a 5 to 1, AP - HEI mix) can not penetrate modern tanks which are about late 1970s-1980s onwards. The 20mm on the F-5 is mainly used for A/A gunnery as well so it would normally just have the same type of A-10 rounds, aka AP and HEI, but the mix would go the other way with a 5-1 mix in favor of the HEI. In short, the 20mm cannon of the F-5 is quite powerful, but not even CLOSE to the power that you are suggesting.
Does it have autopilot?
Yes and follows a flight plan well too

@@BrettPlays bought this one couple days ago and find the aircraft is unable to control due to some unknow force dragging, like I was fighting the auto pilot
@@otakufly do you have auto trim on in your settings?
@BrettPlays not at all, every thing is fine and setting / re-setting well. I even change the control equips and all re-installing / rebooting and remove all MODs. Nothing helps, no any other aircraft has such problem. When I press Z, I can sense the auto pilot, and I can sense it disengaging when press shift-Z or over control. so I don't think auto-pilot does that.

I am on pc, the weapons mod is also only on pc but the aircraft is available on xbox too
Cheers. Sc designs is coming out with one soon. What is your opinion or thoughts on what that will be like in comparison?
I currently have deimos’ su27, jas39, and a10 and love them all.
From what I can see on their Facebook pictures the SC one looks like the exact same 3d model (one purchased from external store) but the liveries/paint work is factory clean with no grime or dirt, I hope they add some too. I would expect it to be very similar, maybe a few changes, hopefully some extra payloads on their weapons mods. I guess we will see when it is released.

What part? Need more information to know why you think it is "horribly bad" Is it because it is not in DCS?
The original F-5E has a gunsight instead of a HUD, and below it there would be a gunsight panel and btw there are only like 20% of the buttons working
