After listening to the video (or should I say reading the book), one realises that the word "reading" in the title means more than just reading. It entails in a much broader sense understanding, contemplating and appreciating its meaning and message. Brother Paul just knows how to lay it down in such a simpler language that almost everyone understands. Just amazing. Keep it coming, brother. Allah bless your efforts.

Let's actually start and examine each and every verse you say:
_ quran 34:59 doesn't contradict anything, in fact it agrees with what God says:
(17:15) *{He who follows the Right Way shall do so to his own advantage; and he who strays shall incur his own loss. No one shall bear another's burden. And never do We punish any people until We send a Messenger}*
1_ regarding the "first Muslim" verses.
If you actually read the verses, you'll know what they say, let's begin:
_Muhammad (6:14-163) notice how is BOTH verses Muhammad was commanded to "say" to his tribe.
Moses (7:143) if you read exegesis such _as "tafsir al-maisar" and "tafsir al-jalalain" you'll find that it in this verses moses is referring to himself as the first to ever believe among the tribes of bani isreal IN THAT TIME (I.e. that period)
_ the magicians of Pharaoh (26:51) were the first time ever believe in moses, meaning: they are the first to believe in his message.
Again: if you read exegesis such as "tafsir al-maisar" & "tafsir al-jalalain" you'll find the same thing.
_ Abraham/ishmeal/Jacob and the Descendants (2:127-133, 3:67) there is nothing here about them being "the first".. instead they were making dua, and this is not addressing someone (like what we see previously)
_regading Adam (2:37) there is absolutely nothing to indicate such in this verse.. it only tells us that God forgive Adam.
      2_ regarding seeing God.
If we actually read the verses of (53:1-18, 81:15-29) there is NOTHING about seeing God.
Quran 81:23 is talking about Gabriel, NOT God.. Read exegesis.
Verse 42:51 proves that.. reading verses 53:1-18 we find NOTHING about Muhammad seeing God.. as some sahih hadiths in muslim (hadith no. 178) say: there was a veil that protected Muhammad from seeing God, the prophet only saw a bright light. Which confirms 42:51.

I like the Intro to the book , I think it provides a refreshing view of The Quran.
In addition to that I believe the point is that the Quran is so powerful in the language it uses! It can really make it seem too deep sometimes that a single word can give 10 meanings on it’s own...
Great content thats brother Paul! ✌🏽

From a very personal point of view, the unfamiliar way of chapter/verses organization is a phenomenon that may result in few things. I will mention some that I personally experienced:
    1. Quran is a very challenging book to the readers. Even the name of the chapters being straight forward, they do not let you grab hold of the whole story that the chapter was named after. It is only a teaser, if you like. For example, chapter Mary, tells the essence but you need to go through others to know details. "If you want to know more, read more" kinda thing.
    2. Unlike any book, Quran does not let you read only what you want to hear (pick and choose). Like warning from hellfire (which most of us would avoid to read about if a whole chapter was exclusively dedicated to it) Rather, you will find it even in a place you least expected it to be.
    3. Whoever lacks knowledge of the Quran or reads the least of it can be easily exposed if he/she tried to preach or criticize the Quran. (From the first Quote we can tell who did read the book and who is merely copy/pasting from a random source).
    4. At the same time, this way makes it beneficial to both practicing and less practicing Muslims (or the heavey and light reader). Whoever reads the least of the Quran can go just fine -spirtually. Because in almost every chapter the essentials are repeated: One God, created Angels, sent books, assigned messagers, mention of the hereafter (Hell, Paradis, etc.), and the destiny .... cause they are, in fact, the six core components of belief as prophet said. So, those who read and/or listen the least, get away with the least yet most essential (basis of belief), and the those reading/listening more, get more... in terms of spirtually and knowledge.
    5. At last, God mentions whatever fits the context. Like in the story of Moses, many things happened but not told at once. Each chapter tells one or more unique stories that serve the underlying message of that very chapter. Sometimes, one story fits in two messages/chapters.. and sometimes same story is mentioned with more/less detail showing different sides of it, yet again, according to the message the context conveys.

I don't speak Arabic. I have heard the Qur'an in Arabic and have been struck by its unique style, rhythm and rhyme. I have also heard Arabic poetry and cannot but notice the vast differences between the words of the poets and the Qur'an. I have contemplated on the inescapable loss and deprivation experienced by those reading mere translations of the rich and undeniably beautiful world the Qur'an truly must be. I suppose one can imagine a person imbued with breathtaking beauty, charm, and charisma. Now imagine never seeing the striking color of her eyes, the manner in which her dark hair flails about her face, the captivating contours of her lips or experiencing her intelligence and spiritual dimension. All you have is her shadow on the ground. That to me is what mere translation offers, a mere shadow. For the literalists and the Halal Police, I am not comparing the Qur'an to a woman. I am merely providing an allegory.

He it is who has revealed the book to you. Among them are absolutely clear and lucid verses. These are the core of the book. Others are ambiguous. Those in whose hearts there is perversity go about the part that is ambiguous seeking mischief, and seeking to arrive at its meaning arbitrarily. Although none knows their true meaning but Allah, but those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say “ we believe in it, it is from our lord alone. No one derives true admonition except the people of understanding. Syrah 3 verse 7

Thanks to Uthman for compiling the Quran. Uthman was a son-in-law & notable companion of the Muhammad & its important to standardize the written text of the Quran into one specific Arabic dialect. Arabs had many different tribes & dialects. Wrong dialects will cause meaning errors. That is why it is important to compiled according to the original dialect. Another reason for compiling the Quran was that many Muslims who had memorized the Quran in its entirety (huffaz) were dying, especially in battle.

Great theme. Love in the Quran.
The main problem I had in reading the Quran was the non linearity of its themes. There are different stories and moral lessons in each chapter, except for the shorter ones at the end. It is a good idea to learn it by heart and savour the flow of the wonderful, rhythmic language on your tongue. Then it is easier to understand.

As always very insightful. If I may ad a simple observation! The coran can be read & understood in many different levels from the average person to the highly qualified scholars. Otherwise it won't be fair on the majority of people. Allah is fair and merciful to all . The point the umma is missing in our time is that they regard the koran as a book. It is much more than that. Allah in the Koran calls it different names like al fourkan which clarifies between right and wrong. Or al rouh ( the spirit) .so as well as the Koran address the mind and intellect it addresses the heart. As an example I saw this phenomenon by observing the effects it has on the older generations. Most recently my parents and their generation .have more faith an solace than us even though they couldn't read write. What ever they little they knew they put it into practice. And the result was apparent in society as whole. Nowadays people are more educated. But unfortunately they gather the knowledge like general knowledge and don't apply it in lives and towards the people around them. That is the essence of the teaching of the Koran. To change the hearts of the people and their dealings.

But unfortunately we the people so called Muslims kept THIS BOOK aside , thinking It is too tough to understand , as you mentioned on the basis of the author of the said book. But ALLAH says in Qur'an "It is in easy language Arabic". But for whome who try to understand.

Allah says,"He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book(Quran): In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding."(Surah-Al Imran) Al Quran

Quran written in a form of conversation, like we people speak in a gathering and most of the time is it a few minutes or an hour of discussion we usually change from one topic to another one it's a human nature, same way if you read single page of Quran some time you will get different topics, and I think the reason behind this is that through this single page, maybe one of the topic convince the reader, as well as we will not get bored.

The complete acceptance of the teachings and guidance of our Creator as revealed to all His messengers (peace be upon them) is the religion of Islam.Islam enjoins faith in the oneness and sovereignty of Allah, which makes man aware of the meaning fulness of the universe and of his place in it.This belief frees the human being from all fears and superstitions as it makes him conscious of the presence of the Almighty Allah, and of his obligation towards Him.This faith must be expressed and tested in action, for faith alone is not enough.Belief in one God"Allah"requires that we look upon all humanity as one family under the universal Omnipotence of the Creator, and Nourisher of all.Islam rejects the idea of a chosen people while on the other hand,it approves that belief in the Creator, and doing righteous deeds is the only way to heaven. Thus,a direct relationship is established with Allah and without any intercessor at that.Islam is not a new religion. It is,in essence, the same message and guidance which Allah revealed to all His prophets, like Adam,Enoch,Noah,Abraham,Ishmael,Isaac,David,Moses,Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them). But the message which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) is Islam in its comprehensive, complete and final form.

The Quran is not a novel or a
Story book where it starts like - once upon a time - . It’s
Concentrated and concise . One needs to understand that the shift between the topics and incidents are because it was not revealed in bulk. It took over 23 yrs verse by verse chapter by chapter depending on the circumstances and incidents . And hence some of the stories of the earlier prophets are repeated and scattered. In fact Allah challenges for any one to present something like this if they can.
And if you are in doubt as to that which We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses besides Allah if you are truthful. But if you do (it) not and never shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of which men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers. Surah 2:23-24

10:05 I am not sure about Allah referring to himself as "I" can someone please confirm this?
I haven't seen where Allah referred to himself as "I" He swt always uses the "Narrator's" position to speak of HIMSELF. Example, "HE said, I am your exalted Lord" I don't believe Allah speaks to us in the Qu'ran through the first person singular, He often uses "WE" the royal We, or HE.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Q2:30 "Behold thy lord said to the Angels "I will create a vicegerent on earth" they said "will you place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood? While we do celebrate your praises and glorify thy holy name?"
In similar verses it explain what God alone can do and no one else. In such cases God uses the singular but in other cases where God uses other agencies he used the plural like
Q25: 48-9 "And we send down pure water from the sky that with it we may give life to a dead land"
Q6:75 "So also did we show Abraham the power and the laws of heaven and earth, that he might (with understanding) have certitude"
Q51:47 "And it is we who built the universe with power; and verily, it is we who are steadily expanding it”
In similar verses you will find that what God is describing is using an agency to achieve what he wants, for example rain happens through various forces of nature he controls, Abraham was able to understand the laws of nature through various natural processes, the expansion of universe is achieved by a variety of factors etc. The “Kun fa ya kun” be and it is, is not a magic wand, God doesnt play magic but willed things and make them happens through process whose control are under his supervision. In a nutshell that is the difference between I and We.

The Corpus of the 114 Surats informs us that there is a Tradition which claims to be an Apostolic Tradition yet still rejects circumcision while the Apostles were all circumcised, didn't believe in Trinity, and had prescribed a dietary Law in Acts 15:22-34 which the said Tradition rejects. Is it not ironic!
On the basis of those clues we can say for sure that:
Qur'an is a codeword for Torah.
The Reminder should be the proper Title for the corpus of 114 Surats.
Islam means an Evangelical Party supposed to enforce the Torah as the Law of the land.
    Muhammad euphemism for Messiah
Abu Quasim as an Arabian Evangelist who later became a Sovereign Ruler,
Legislator...and took up Muhammad as a reign name.
Unfortunately the "Muhammad" of the Palace and the "Mohammad" of the Shahada in the Mosque got blended together in the Tradition.
If it is true that Abu Quasim signed off his formal treaties and official decrees as Muhammad as reported by Ibn Hisham, then this might explain how this present OPTICAL ILLUSION was perpetuated by those who were eager to capitalize on the Pilgrimage to Macca.
It' s high time to differentiate the palace and the Mosque under the Messianic title Muhammad.

This may be the most balanced of the surveys quoted from by Paul. I applaud the author for his seeming willingness to be honest about the koran's presence.
Disclosure: please remember I am a christian and not a koran or islam believer ( in other words as you guys would say a disbeliever/ mushrikun, whichever) So read my note as hostile nevertheless
~ 10:15 "even the pronominal narrative voice changes god sometimes refers to himself as he, sometimes as I, sometimes by we and sometimes by his divine names. God clearly cannot be limited or constrained by pronouns or by a single point of view and each of these shifts contains a secret and a meaning"
My reflection: I am struck by the fact that he writes not even a single point of view can constrain God. This is because muslims in their attempt to say the Trinity is wrong (or not in the Bible) demand that their single point of view on the nature of God be the way it actually is. And if presented with a different view are again constraining in their view. But what makes God God is that this being is not containable, and not definable. We affirm God is one (but three persons within that unity). Just as we may have a triangle possessing quite obviously three sides, or three states of H2O existing at one point in time at the triple point (which is impossible otherwise) then we recognize our biblical revelation of God.
Muslims try to say that the Bible never reveals such ideas. But anyone who says that is a Liar. They will purposefully extract verses that constrain God to their single point of view and DENY verses that lift the lid so to speak. They either DENY OR DECRY verses on points of historicity or meaning in order to maintain their single point of view that there is only one person who is God.
While I do not need to deny or eject a verse of the koran. They mean what they mean. Even if flawed in my view they must mean exactly that. and all verses should be taken as a whole to prove a point. if someone shows me a verse that seems to soften a point then i should integrate that into my understanding.
    ________________-------------------------------_______________________--------------------------------_______________________
    ~11:00
"the Koran at first seems to contain a number of obscurities, repetitions, interrupted sentences, abridgements and ellipses. These two have certain secrets and meanings that have to be penetrated. they force people to stop and think deeply and that is perhaps part of the reason they are there."
So my question to persons reading this is WHAT MAKES A GOOD BOOK?
the author highlights some of the very things that make a book bad. I agree that such issues mean something and that they need to be examined. but why should we believe that it is necessarily of some deep psychological spiritual meaning when these issues exist. Might it not be that the reason these things are there is because the writers were not sure about what they were writing (obscurities), forgot sentences and ideas that they had previously written(repetitions), were distracted many a time due to issues of life and other writers had to take up their place(interrupted sentences), could not be bothered at times to fully explain certain ideas(abridgements) and were not prophets at all hence ellipses.
I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR VIEWS ON THIS!!!
