    The great Don Alan was the first to perform these close up table tricks back in the 1960s. He has been copied by almost all other close up magicians since but never equaled in presentation, entertainment and execution not to mention originality. He can be seen on you tube.

      You're absolutely right. I make no claim to originality for this. He was a master and one of my idols. He literally changed the way close-up was done. He was one of the first to make it "commercial" and he did a brilliant job of it. I remember watching him do this routine on both "The Mike Douglas Show" and "Merv Griffin" in the 70's. You must have been around magic a while too?
