Colour and personality, I love this so much. I really appreciate you highlighting personal meaning too. I have a bookcase and other pieces my Dad built; he died last year so these pieces are so beloved.
re: Content. I love hearing you speak about what you see in a space and hope you will do more deep dives. Liked many of these examples but didn't know why (understanding helps to replicate later). You also called out small details I missed or didn't spot. Also thank you for including real life spaces from subscribers. I don't want to see computer generated images or only large spaces that most of us don't live in.
I think in that case, the residents bring the character! The ideas about texture, colour, things that tell personal 'stories' for the home and bring us joy to see on a daily basis, those all still apply even when we aren't lucky enough to have some kind of gorgeous architectural detail to play off :).
That just means you have a blank canvas! The other houses shown in the video were also 'without character' for their time, since all other houses looked exactly the same.
Don't rush to fill the space with perfect furnishings. Imperfection is more interesting. Avoid being lured in by mass produced chachkas, if it's going to occupy valuable real estate, you should at least have a sense of connection with your objects. Plants also help to give a home some life 🌱
You could go to the paint store and get a bunch of paint 'chips' then tape them to the walls and see how you like them. Paint one wall your favorite colour. If there's an echo get a rug that matches the paint. Sit on it. Look around the room. What would add Joy for you to look at..? What would make it cozy.. for you to like being in the space.. and make 'the' space your space..? 😊
understanding what makes a design good (ie repeating accent colors in a few places) is the foundation. once you know things like that, you can move forward with a budget that suits you
I Reynard, I've been following your videos for over a year now. Just a gentle suggestion: it's probably time to find another background for shooting your videos 😅
Beautiful video, but please please never and I'm really serious, one should never hang anything onto pipes or use them for anything other than their original purpose. If they bend and leak, you will be sc**d. We had a customer who had used a horizontal pipe as support for books. Insurance company just laughed.
@@nanemoon9968 interesting, noted! Funnily enough I actually took down the plant hanging off the pipe a few months ago (that was my apartment in the video that you are referring to) so that’s good to know!

Such a pleasant surprise to wake up this morning and see my Amsterdam apartment featured! Thanks Reynard! 🎉
What a beautiful home you have Terry! Thanks for sharing it 😊
I love these kind of room photos with explanation of why it works. I learned a lot. Thank you!
I agree! It's why I love Reynard's videos.
It's nice to see "normal" houses, I would like to see more if them in the future 😊
I'd love to feature more of them as well. If anyone wants their home featured - send photos/videos of your spaces here 👉 rlowell.com/deepdivehomes
Uhh, yeahhh, if by “normal” you mean wealthy. Smh.
@@BetterMe981 Yeah, maybe I should say "more normal" 😅

Happy New Year, Reynard! You should do a longer video reading a book or something, your voice and intonation is so relaxing.
that TV on a stand is brilliant!
Really love this format! Thank you for your tips and hard work!
Another very helpful video; thank you!

More of this type of video, please! 🙂
Would love to see your opinion about whether or not to display family pics on the wall. And if so, how to do it in a modern way.
I stopped at 05:00 to clean my living room so it would look better like in these pictures xD
Thanks for the explanations! I actually don’t like these rooms but I did learn a lot
Hi. Thanks man. Really love🥰 these examples. You could have also called this “Innovative Uses of Colour &Pattern”. Cheers🌬️🏡.
I'd hate the kitty litter in the kitchen, especially under where your dining table is. It's a stunning home though.
Love this! :)
Very interesting to celebrate character! 👍😎🇨🇦
Very nice explanation..
Thank you ❤
What is the the color of the wall behind you?
What to do if your home has no character? My house is a boring drywall box with zero interest. Just a box... it makes me so sad.

Decorating takes time. Save up your money and change things but by bit.

I'm buying a new build house but I love old details
✨🙏✨
The only thing not addressed in any of these videos is BUDGET. Most of us are not made of money.

Yes, my plumber scolded me for hanging clothes on my basement water pipes!

I would marry this man...wonder if he is single?
You probably need to get out more then and not leave unwarranted statements in the comments section.
