I was there 8/2020. They have some odd ice cream there. It's a very traditional Mexican town. We met this guy Raul in Guanajuato. Our hotel fixed us up with him. We went on this horse ranch in the mountains and the rest of our stay, Raul drove us around to different towns and showed us around. He was awesome!! Meeting a local tourist pro like him made our time in Mexico amazing.

The only thing I remember is the church, probably because I'm a history geek and as you stated, that is where Hidalgo claimed independence from Spain. Looks like my kind of place. I really don't care for the gringo havens. Take care Gabe. Looking forward to your future videos. Cheers.

I just wanted to say, Gabe, that after watching several other youtubers over the weekend off & on (one can only watch so much!) and coming back to this video a second time even though Dolores Hidalgo doesn't sweep me off my feet, and watching you walk the streets again, it's actually refreshing because, in a Richard Linklater kind of way, you let us see what a place looks like without being in front of the camera all the time. I don't mind when you turn the camera on yourself - it would be boring if you didn't - but you're not in front of the camera all the time. Much as I like some of the other youtubers I find myself like looking to the side of them or over their shoulders to see whatever there is to see while they're talking ... and talking ... and talking. I also want to say yet another thing I appreciate and don't take for granted is not only the time you take to edit (and add the written corrections/clarifications/$ conversions on the screen which are always worthwhile reading), but also the time you must take to cram for local history & what's happening and repeat it in your dialog, choose background music, learn some local language, all while researching where you might go next (and how you're gonna get there, and where you're gonna stay), respond to viewers' comments (and take time when you can to answer some things in depth .. . without virtually any typos .... while answering some of the same questions, like what camera you used, over and over again I might add), follow up on leads and tips (you got a lot of good ones in Mexico I noticed), keep tabs on the business side of your traveling, and somehow find the time to watch other youtubers' videos ... How many hours sleep you squeeze in, in a day, (how many?), has to be less than the average person. I saw a documentary recently of Bill Belichick and the interviewer asked him how he felt about winning all those Super Bowls and he responded, "Very gratified because it took a lot of hard work. They didn't just happen. I earned those Super Bowl rings." Same with you - you've earned those 300K subscribers you're about to achieve. Respect.

Im a middle aged caucasian Male and a bit nervous to travel to mexico because of the stereotypes you hear on tv and media. How comfortable did you feel being there?? Because hidalgo is the state we will be traveling to
    Thanks.

I don't see any U.S. or Canadian tourist make videos about the Aqueduct of Padre Tembleque or other big aqueducts...it would be cool if you did. Or go to some small Pueblo Magico lilke Zacatlán, Huasca de Ocampo, Real del Monte, Tepoztlán (birth place of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec feathered serpent), Tepotzotlán, (city where Che Guevara married his wife, and home to awesome aqueduct), etc..

Morelia is a good recommendation. Super nice and not that overrun with tourists like many other places.

When you say your state you mean you live there? Michoacán is a beautiful state and has great food too. But I heard the countryside of Michoacán is not that safe. Is that true?
