    La Campana de Dolores que tocó el padre Hidalgo la noche del grito es la que está en el balcón presidencial del palacio nacional del zócalo de CDMX, es la que toca el presidente cuando da el grito

    You’ve probably left town already but if not, or for anyone else...go eat at Don Vicente’s!!!! Family style service - platters of pork ribs, beef ribs, copper vats sizzling with pork confit, the best guacamole served with pork skins (of course), the best beans and salsas. I love Mexico and I love the food in Mexico, Don Vicente’s is one of the best places I have ever eaten in my life, I still dream about it!

    Grito de Dolores happened on September 16, 1810, and marks the beginning of the independence war.
    Mexico was declared independent on September 28, 1821, when finally the Act of Independence was signed ...

      There’s really not much to do there. You can tell by the video they were trying to be nice, but the highlight was eating ice cream. I love Mexico and Mexican music so for me it was a bit better, because I went to Jose Alfredo Jimenez’s house which is now a museum and to his tomb, but not much else to do.

    Aww you're visiting the city where my family is from! I have been going since ten years old (mostly Christmas a few summers) and loved it so much I would cry whenever we had to return to the U. S lol. I love all those crazy ice cream flavors; travelor tip--always go to the vendor with the longer lines because that means they have the best!

  • @SmokeyChipOatley

    Of all the “popular in Mexico but not quite so in the US” ice cream flavors, my favorite by far and also one I wish more people in the states were familiar with is mamey! For anyone unfamiliar, I would describe the flavor as if avocado was a delicious sweet fruit crossed with hints of caramel and a small hint of sweet potato but not in a bad or overly noticeable way

    • @ithk2317
      @ithk2317 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be the opposite, I wish people in the US or anywhere else, keep not knowing about mamey, it will get exploded by narcos and the price would go up just like it happened with avocado, whilst mexicans have the worst quality when everything good goes outside. No, thank you.

    • @Panda-qv6ht

      you can get that flavor here in LA

    • @SmokeyChipOatley
      @SmokeyChipOatley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Panda-qv6ht Yup! I just wish it wasn’t as “exotic” or unknown to the average American. Seems like you have to be Latino, be around Latinos or have been exposed to it yourself on vacation to be familiar with this specific ice cream flavor (and many others of course).

    Basically, nieve & helado is the same. Nieve is more used in the northern part of Mexico and helado from de central to south east part... Honestly if you say nieve o helado, everybody should understand it. Here in Monterrey sometimes I use the word helado and I had no problem with people understanding it.

    Youre right Goyo, Nieve is water based and Helado is cream based. You guys could visit José Alfredo Jimenez's house (now is a museum) and the cantinas where he used to party in Dolores. Also Jose Alfredo's memorial at the municipal graveyard. "La casa de Hidalgo" is a must , theres a museum inside... The jail, beside the parish has historical relevance too. Inside la parroquia you can see the gold-plated side altar... Creo que les faltaron ganas ☹️. Aun así, buen video. Saludos!!
