How do you define "Productivity "? For some it might be editing videos or photos, for others it may mean having split screen mode. My point is, it seems that many reviewers put down a device that doesn't meet every high end possible application. Personally I am amazed that a device as inexpensive as this has as many features it does. I got one as a travel device since I really don't want to be worried about dropping my much more expensive iPad or Samsung device. For many if not the majority of people a tablet like this will meet their needs almost perfectly. Media consumption, answering emails, writing letters, etc are all doable. The screen is very adequate except for the very brightest situations. All in all the Amazon products are a good value for many.

I just bought the new Fire hd8 2022. I’m going to experiment with it as a productivity tool. I’m a working mom and wife so I need the basic Microsoft Office apps to keep organized and to plan out our schedules etc.

Just got one on prime day paid £109 for it....brilliant for the money just use it for films and TH-cam excellent tablet .....just put Google play on it easy just look on TH-cam for the instructions how to do it...hooked my ear buds up to it brilliant sound great screen
Great review, man. I just got the without ads version for 90 quid, 44% off in the Black Friday week sale. Trouble is, I've been getting the black screen of death and it looks like it's quite a common thing.
Why do I need a tablet? Travel. I have the Fire 10 9th generation and I love it. Its lightweight, and has as a screen as large as most airline seat backs feature. With the SD Card slot (mine is (512 gigs) I have it packed full of movies and it sits on the drop down tray perfectly. I highly recommend it to most people, its excellent for entertainment. Hate to say it but these are pretty low spec devices. If you can swing for maybe an iPad around Black Friday they should hit the $200s but I know it’s a jump.
Could be wrong but from what I can see the kids version is the same tablet, but it comes with a year of their kids premium plan, and kid proof case and a 2 year warranty that even includes if a child drops it!
@@mikedropstech thanks for the reply. I was looking it over more closely and the kids pro is has same specs as the regular 10 with 3gb ram and no wireless charging but has the case and 2 year warranty.
For me, tablets need to be at least 10” otherwise I just find them a little too small to be useful. Everyone is different so if you’re comfortable with an 8” or 7” tablet then awesome, there’s plenty of cases they work well.

@Ralph Reilly Well without access to a the google play store you're limited with the amount of common productivity apps. Amazon's app store doesn't give me access to a lot of the google products I use to manage my work. I also don't have that opportunity to access creative app features that I also use that I would normally have access to on an iPad or Android tablet. That being said, I have also managed to figure a way out to install the google play store so that I now have access to those apps. So now I'd say it's a lot more functional as a productivity tablet. It's actually quite easy to install as well and created a video tutorial for. I've also found it more helpful when I plug in a keyboard and mouse to it as well, making it even better in some situations.
Since you asked. I need a tablet for whenever I travel by plane, train or automobile. I do more on my phone than I do a tablet but it's nice and lightweight to have rather than a typical laptop.
I don't NEED a tablet. I bought a 10 Plus for just a kick around piddle around tablet. I am going to see how much I can squeeze out of it! I am buying one of them Wacom Bamboo styluses to draw on it. I might even try to root it. It is a heck of a lot of value for $104! Oh and you CAN set it to install apps on the SD card.
I added google on my amazon fire hd ten tablet. silk browsers just don't cut it for me, but I'm hearing google have a few issues with amazon browser or OS. I love to have Firefox but they have too many hiccups software especially when it's time to watch a movie.
There's a few good things with this tablet sure but theres a few things that leave it lacking too. For example, no hdmi out, no ability to use external devices such as memory card readers or external drives which is a big fail as I would like to copy files from my cameras memory cars on the go (usbc seems to be power only), no screen mirroring, apps regularly crash, when switching between apps they often reload and don't always stay in previous state which can be frustrating.
Currently looking into tablets and a lot of people say this brand of tablets is pretty good. I dont play games, edit videos, or anything like that. Mainly use my old ipad to browse internet, watch videos, chat with friends on messengers, and just few things but nothing major. A lot of people complain about no google play but i still want to give this tablet a shot.
@@mikedropstech Ipads can be rather expensive and i do like giving other brands a try. A lot of friends keep recomending the fire tablet, lenovo tablet, and the samsung tablets.
Haven't used the Lenovo, but have used Fire and Samsung pretty extensively. Good tablets for sure, go compare them for yourself and let me know how you find them :).

You can side load apps onto it from the google play store if you follow a few quick steps to get the store onto the kindle. I didn’t cover it in the review but google will help you and it’s super easy :)

So I can watch news and look things up same time. Most streaming apps i use (Disney+, Prime, Shudder, Ted, BBCiplayer, Troma Now!) work with split screen but not Netflix or All 4. Don't think these support split screen. You can have half or adfusted 1/3 one side 2/3 the other. I got the plus unit wth 32gb internal wthout ads, worth it to not have the ads in my opinion tho i think these can be removed by some tutorial. I didn't really notice a huge difference until i counted 158 tabs xD open in chrome and realsed this outpaces the other fire 10. no lag until i got to that point
O boy, little do you know about what actually can be done with that tablet. You can turn this thing into a android/google machine without any traces of amazon left. 😂
There is away round to get Google Stuff on Amazon devices it depends what you want want from this device a good secure device which Amazon say they deliver for a price or you can download Internet security apps Amazon say they have built in secure security but this can include a free optional service but limited to one device any device should be securely packaged with virus secure security but whether you buy into amazon or download another service it up to you and preferences and safety amazon items are sold securely but they are still android devices and handheld computers so are phones so you can use Android and Google apps on any amazon device a better device is one that is one that is one anyone can feel assured about with cross platforms connection via either Amazon or Google stores Google can work on amazon it just know how?
It's tough for sure because as some of the comments below point out, sub-$200 and to be fair, even sub-$300 the manufacturers have to make decisions that negatively impact the device in some way. It seems as though the economics of a solid, powerful tablet mean anything in that lower range will sacrifice performance and capability for price. Sometimes stuff just costs.

You know I haven’t tried but I’ll check it out tonight and see if I can fast from it to my TV or fire stick.
