Is this a good choice for doing just two things, reading books and listening to music? I use my chromebook for everything else when I travel, I just want to put on my headphones, listen to music and read my books. Thank you so much for your advice.

After you start the FireToolbox installer from your Windows PC, make sure you also watch the tablet screen for any pop-up approval messages or notifications. Not sure if this is recommended, but my tablet WiFi was turned OFF for the installation. I also downloaded the FireTool software .Zip file (not .Exe), and scanned it with Microsoft's virus checker, which it approved. This video's steps are still working with my new Fire Tablet HD 10 gen11/2021, running Fire OS 7.3.1.9 (fresh out of box with no updates).
Now that this model has been replaced with newer versions, you can get a good deal on this model as a close-out. And if you follow this guide closely, then yes I suppose it is worth it. I followed his instructions to get the GooglePlay Store running as well as removing or disabling some of the built-in Amazon apps. But I think I went beyond what he suggested during the initial setup going through all the options, when the tablet was connected to my laptop, and I didn't really know what all the settings would do that were not covered by his video. I've been putting off updating the setup software on my laptop in order to go through everything again. The bottom line is this process is not a one-time thing, and will require some ongoing updates to your PC's set-up software and tablet that Amazon will keep trying to disable. And some of the Amazon apps will still appear on the tablet but will not function properly. I may try to find a newer guide and go through the set up process again.
After installing Google Services and the Nova App launcher, when I try downloading from the Play Store, I am able to download apps but I never see them on my screen and can only open them through the Open button in the Play Store. Does anyone know the solution to this?

Hi can i do opposite can i set from normal tablem with alexa app as sounder and play music on it and on every other soalexa smarp speakers.?? I need to put my tablem into sounder groups
I need a way to change the navigation buttons so that it is similar to an android mobile were the stop button is on the left and not on the right, does some one know a way to do that ? Amazon could have kept the same format as androids ,but no ! they had to reverse the back button and make everything difficult . My 3 year old has autism and gets really frustrated with the buttons been reversed as he is used to using the android mobile .

Complete reset would sort it out. Better to leave making such changes to the user if/when they're tech-literate enough to manage them. Live and learn, no hardware was damaged.
Have you worked out a way to deal with the incredible amount of clunkyness play services causes? The device can be almost unusable at times. Once that is removed things speed up massively.
I think he was half kidding here, my windows 10 firewall and virus scanner approved it, and I was using WiFi which is protected by the router's firewall presumably. So you should not have to manually turn anything off to install the fire tool software on your laptop and tablet.

So how do you stop it from updating from Amazon? You said that at the beginning of the video but you didn't explain how to stop it from updating
It prompts you when you install Nova launcher on your computer. You can also access it in system settings on the software

fire tool crashes during google install had to hard reset tablet doesn't work on tablet fire 7 even though it says it supports it.
