      @@OOICU812 Yes the Prime Day price is too good! About the trade in: you also get 20% off the full price so it's like an additional $36 off, so combined with the $30 it's like you get $66 back.

    I bought the Plus for the extra RAM and the grey soft-touch finish. I haven't been disappointed, but I was glad to see your comparison.

      Yeah the plus is with the extra $30

  • @guguineo
    @guguineo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    SPOILER Alert! Most of the soft touch plastic finish end up being a greasy sticky mess. You should avoid those finishes on plastic devices they always deteriorate. 30$ just for 1 Gb of RAM I DONT THINK SO. I bought the 10 standard model on Amazon prime day on just 79$. Then used Amazon fire toolkit, and now have and awesome ad free and junk free android tablet. Still my iPad rocks. But this baby it’s a cheap substitute for internet browsing, TH-cam, TV streams and daily use.

  • @Blorkion64
    @Blorkion64 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I'm a compulsive app closer so I think the regular HD10 will be fine 🙂 and the 8 core processor is super op. This baby is only $79 plus tax right now for prime day. I already ordered mine as a birthday present to myself 🥳

    I got the plus primarily for the wireless chaging feature. Less wear and tear on the usb port. Eventually, (as with other devices that use usb ports for charging) the port or cable wont work anymore. Both can be fixed, but it's much easier to use wireless for charging. I use the port occasionally for tranferring data between the kindle and my computer.

      wireless charging shortens battery life

  • @demetrimanasses6240

    I doubt anyone is reading the comments on a year old video, but here's my thoughts, having just bought a second Fire HD 10 (the first was for my daughter, this is for me).
    1) The grippy back would be nice, but is irrelevant if you are going to be using a case, which I would have thought a high proportion of people are. Especially if you are using the multi-tasking, where you might be using a keyboard case.
    2) Most reviews say go for the HD Plus because the $30 is such a small increment for he extra processor. It's only a 20% increase on the base price of $149 after all. BUT, it you are doing the sensible thing and waiting for Prime Day or Black Friday sales, where the base price is $79, it's a 38% increase, which makes it a lot less worth it for what you get extra.
    So I'd say pay the extra at full price but not if you can wait and buy at the discounted price.
    The only other reason is to get the wireless charging, which as the review here says is rarely a massive advantage. I would guess the only big reason for doing that would be to look neater if you were using the charging stand and leaving it mostly in one spot somewhere visible as a home automation hub or an Echo Show alternative.

    • @demetrimanasses6240
      @demetrimanasses6240 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple of thoughts a month after getting the Fire 10 HD.
      - I like it. It does what I want it to do. I think it was excellent value. No regrets here.
      - Installing the Google Play Store APK has made it much more useful. Following a TH-cam video made it very straightforward.
      - I had to get the version with ads because for some reason that was the only option Amazon offered. I assumed I would pay and change the settings via my account later, as I’ve done with other Kindles, but actually it’s just the background on the lock screen. They are so unobtrusive that I haven’t bothered.
      - The responsiveness is not perfect. There is often a slight lag after screen presses that sometimes causes you to press twice. Not just demanding software, even settings menus etc. Load times and responsiveness are noticeably slower than my 5 year old iPhone X, even with the likely throttling it’s doing with its ageing (second) battery. I don’t know if that is normal, I haven’t used other budget android tablets to compare and I don’t know if the plus would have been better. The videos I’ve seen suggest not.

    I have an older gen of the Fire HD 10 (7th Gen) and I've loved it but I must have damaged the charging port because I now have problems trying to charge it. Since today is Amazon Prime Day I will probably buy the Plus so that I can have the wireless charging capability as a backup. I wish that my charging port wasn't damaged though because otherwise my 7th Gen Fire HD 10 still works great.

    I canceled the Fire HD 10 to upgrade my order to the plus once I realized it was a thing. I was confused and thought the 64GB model came with 4GB of ram and the 32GB came with 3GB. Then I realized there was a plus model lol. Kind of a pricey upgrade for an extra GB of ram but its still worth it in my opinion because 3GB really isn't much ram nowadays neither is 4GB but 4GB really is impressive on a 100 dollar tablet and great for lite to moderate use. If this device had less bezel it would be amazing for the price. I mean it's still very nice for the price but just having that large screen real estate would make it pop. I do feel like 64GB should be the base amount of storage though as 32GB is a joke nowadays especially since the OS and bloatware typically take up a good chunk of that. But it is nice that I can pop in a quality microSD card and run it as internal storage.
    I just wish I could get one for myself I'm ordering this for a family member.

    Hi Aaron - I found your channel while searching for reviews of the Fire HD10 Plus. I love your Dad type perspective and the great review of this tablet. I have a 1st grader at home and share my Kindle Fire with him often. This new version is definitely a step up from my older HD 10 model. I hope this one doesn't have that annoying ad based price discount like on the prior model. In any case the extra RAM does look helpful and I do like the wireless charging option even though it is kind of lame like you said. Love your review. Adding a sub to your channel and looking forward to more of your videos. Do you have a Patreon membership plan and/or is there anyway for folks to show appreciation for your content?

    Days before Prime Deal Days I happen to have an older 🔥 Tab 8 from Amazon as a gift and was so impressed of the Tab8 I wanted to upgrade to the latest models with an octa core 2.0 ghz and 10 inch screen. The Fire 10.1 is a bit bigger then avarege brands of size. The octa core is upgraded from quad core of the Fire 8. I am very impressed of the Fire HD 10 of also being true full 1080p besides the speed of processing. These Fire Tablets are very useful if ya a media junkie. I use separate Tablets for separate functions in favor of not using a PC for this of is latest trend of using multiple tablets of using different applications. I have a LenovaTab8 with same cpu octa core 2.0 ghz with 2k resolution and must admit the Fire 10 is equal to the Lenova but the Fire 10 was more affordable at only 74$ total on Amazon. It's refurbished but looks new, with ad promo screen which only pops up on sleep mode and barely notice anything annoying. GREAT BUY, if not the BEST Tablet overall of getting more then the money you paid. A MUST tablet to have with your group of tablets which is the trend of using multiple tablets to replace the PC due to saving electricity and more convenient for today's ever changing times of tech use.

    Not sure whether the PLUS is worth it or not, but between my wife and I, we've had 3 Kindle tablets quit working and at least 2 of them are due to the charging port losing connecting due to poor quality mfg. I am wondering if the QI charging would eliminate most of that? I'm also trying to figure out why we get $20 off just once for ads that we get to view for eternity (or until the next charging port fails)? Seems it would be a bit more fair if you got the $20 off your yearly Prime fee.

    Dude, I think for 2 items this close, some people would like to jump to the conclusion part of the video. I mean your video is well made and all, but people are aware of the similarities, so being able to jump to your conclusion part would be nice, because the specs are so so close, and at this price point, I doubt people use this as their main device. I grabbed one just a few days ago for the black Friday deal and plan to use it as a dedicated raspberry pi mobile monitor, and I think videos showing me how to do that was super nice info on devices like this, one app and one usb hdmi capture and it is amazing how the raspberry footprint shrinks, I think that is a cool add on video to this. But if you have the time to consider the suggestion, having a jump to 5 minute mark if you are only here for the conclusion would be a nice touch, unless I missed it.

  • @DannyThompson54
    @DannyThompson54 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    March 2022 - I went for the 10 Plus, primarily for the greater RAM (4GB) and the finish. Then bought the keyboard case that covers all that up! Ha! But yes, it is a great upgrade from my old Fire HD 7 that is so old and tired now that it is barely usable!

    Do they both connect Bluetooth controllers without issue?

    • @thetwotowers3173
      @thetwotowers3173 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. They both have Bluetooth capabilities. Which connects them... But since the fire tablet is developed by Amazon and not Logitech, Microsoft, Google, or Sony, the special buttons like the big Xbox button on a Xbox controller won't work correctly, hope this help!😁

    • @thetwotowers3173

      Luna controllers work amazing hence them being developed by Amazon.

    If i game on a tablet its usualy something simple like bounzy, home/garden scape, and few other games that are similar. I dont use tablet to do intense gaming like my consoles. Most time i prefer just watch videos, surf web, check email, and chat with friends.

    Really useful comparison, personally the RAM difference is minimal and most won't notice any difference, and the finish/grip issue is up to each user. In the UK the £30 difference will more than buy a nice case so it's no brainer to go for the HD as opposed to the Plus for me. Good cases come in for less that £20. And right now in the UK you cannot buy a Plus with 64GB without Ads but you can buy the HD with 64GB without Ads... weird as both can be expanded anyway. HD standard for me

    • @robertguerrero2172

    I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!

    Summary,
    If you plan to use this device for a Netflix streamer “consumption” device the standard model will suffice.
    If your needs are basic computing “productivity” for social media, emails, word processing, etc. The higher Ram in the plus model will make life a little easier.
