Some snapshots from Prof. Shamika Ravi's presentation
    HDI: 4:30
India is only 10 years behind China in terms of HDI. Thanks to democracy; make more noise.
Inflection point of economy attained only during Vajpayee era that is 20 Yeats after the economic liberalization wherein the rules were tweaked to suit private investment in fulfilling the nation's aspirations.
    Quality of life: 4:50
    Jan Dhan-Aadhar-Mobile Trinity: 7:00
    Wealth distribution: 7:30
    There's no north-south divide.
    Why East should matter?
    Urban-rural divide: 8:31
    Structural breaks
    Growth with development: 11:16
    Per capita state GDP: 12:30
    Energy security: 10:40
    Food security: Graph missing
    Unemployment rate of states: 13:30
    Labor force participation rate: 13:50
    Graduate unemployment: Missing graph
    Narrative Economics: 20:54
Lesson for BJP and other well-wishers to do some hardwork in understanding how the world is controlled by stories.

The way things are going with The Wrestler Protest, Manipur Instability and the recent train accident, the opposition has found a few issues to highlight and gain traction. They are also highlighting the Modi-Adani relationship to paint it as corruption.
Bharat Jodo Yatra and the recent Karnataka win has energized the Congress Cadre and given their voters the confidence that Congress has a chance of winning. Chattisgarh will be won by Congress, unless some miracle happens. Congress has a chance of winning MP and Rajasthan, if they can manage the fight between Ghelot and Pilot. These will also increase the confidence. Rahul Gandhi also doesn't seem to be saying a lot of stupid things like he used to.
BJP having done all the right things in the economy in terms of infra, reducing inflation and some reforms, economy is poised to take off. If BJP looses this election it will be like 2004 all over again. Congress will sit pretty takin credit for everything BJP has done, just like 2004.

Excellent overview of Indian economy and the narrative built against India by various vested interest groups and their ecochambers.

Prof Shamika Ravi's lecture is worth every word to understand India in perspective. She puts to shame so many of our "negative narrative creators", in the media and in politics. Hopefully, she'll be inspired to serve in government.

She already has been actively engaged w/ the govt. Her last stint was in an advisor role in the MoF.

The unemployed graduate youth, many of who in fact await government jobs taking advantage of reservations etc., are the media story and not how they are unemployable- a point raised by the Speaker. Vocationalization of education, cost recovery based tertiary education are the measures needed.

Couldn't take any classes with her, since she'd stop being a prof the year before I joined Business school. Such a tragedy.

I wanted to see all the graphs. The camera man didn’t do justice to her extremely factual presentation.
