  • In this video, I'll show you everything you need to know about Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). If you are planning a trip through this airport, then this guide is for you.
In this comprehensive guide to the CLT airport, I will provide you with valuable information so that you can navigate the airport easily and efficiently. I will talk about the main terminal, the last waiting rooms, the security inspection points, the commercial and passenger services offered and much more.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport, located in the city of Charlotte in North Carolina, is identified by the IATA code CLT and has 4 runways. It is considered the second largest hub or connection center for American Airlines, only behind the Dallas Fort Worth Airport. In 2022, more than 47.7 million passengers transited through this airport, which places it in sixth place in terms of passenger traffic in the United States. CLT offers extensive air connectivity, with 180 non-stop destinations around the world.
The Airport has a main terminal with two levels. On the ground floor is the baggage claim area and ground transportation, while on the top floor are the airline check-in counters and security inspection points. Likewise, it has 5 terminals with last waiting rooms, identified as Terminal A, Terminal B, Terminal C, Terminal D and Terminal E, in which various services are provided that I will describe later.
Currently, the main airport terminal is undergoing renovations with the aim of updating its facilities and offering an improved experience to passengers. Among the areas that are being renovated are the area of the airline check-in counters and the security inspection points, in order to make them more efficient and comfortable. I'll have an excuse to go back and see the final result to share it in a future video.
"The Airport has taken measures to minimize the inconvenience caused by the ongoing redevelopment. Some areas have been covered to avoid inconvenience and temporary signage has been installed to guide passengers and visitors during this improvement process.
When visiting Charlotte Douglas Airport, the prominent presence of American Airlines is evident. However, it is important to note that other airlines also operate, including SunCountry, Delta, Southwest, Air Canada, United, Frontier and Lufthansa, which offer a diversity of destinations for passengers traveling to or from CLT.
Charlotte Airport has five security checkpoints designated as checkpoint A, C, D and E. However, it is important to note that checkpoint B is currently closed due to ongoing renovations in the main terminal.
An advantage of CLT is that any security inspection point can be used to access the sterile area, since all terminals are interconnected. Once the security point has been passed, passengers will arrive at a large atrium where various commercial concessionaires are located. This space serves as a connection point to access the different boarding rooms. To facilitate the location of these rooms, at the beginning of each corridor there is a large letter that indicates the corresponding rooms. This layout of the airport allows passengers to move easily between terminals and find boarding gates without difficulty, providing a more comfortable and convenient travel experience.
It is easy to identify the boarding gates at Charlotte Douglas Airport, since the letter indicates the hall and the number indicates the corresponding boarding gate. An opportunity not to be missed is to visit the "First in Flight" mobile located in the Central Atrium, created by artist George Greenamyer. This impressive work of art is made of steel and features 16 aluminum airplanes, adding a unique touch to the airport atmosphere. In addition, the Central Atrium is an ideal place to observe operations and aircraft through its large windows, which create a park-like atmosphere with trees. In the mezzanine of the atrium, there is a lactation room, the USO room and a chapel. This space is also perfect for waiting for your flight while enjoying the magnificent views it offers.
