🎓 Are you curious about clinical hours in NP school or PMHNP school? 🏥 Stick around as I break it down for you!
In today's video, I'm addressing a question from our community about clinical rotations and the hours involved. 📝
👋 Welcome to my channel! I'm a PMHNP student and a registered nurse. Join me as I share my journey through NP school, discussing what works, the challenges, and how to navigate through it all. Plus, our community of NP students is always ready to support each other. Click the link in the description to join us! 🌟
💼 Clinical rotations are a crucial part of NP programs, but it's more than just logging hours. Let me give you an insider's view. Before even starting rotations, you'll spend months finding preceptors, securing contracts, and navigating administrative processes. It's a journey before the journey begins! 🗓️
🔍 And once you're in clinical rotations, it's not just about showing up at the site. You'll be juggling patient encounters, administrative tasks, and perhaps even balancing work commitments. It's a lot to manage, but it's all part of the process. 💪
⏰ So, how many hours are required? In my program, it varies per semester. Currently, I'm halfway through my fifth semester, with 120 hours required. But the workload increases as you progress. Next semester, I'll need 180 hours, and in my final semester, a whopping 240 hours. That's dedication! 🌟
💼 But remember, it's not just about meeting the minimum hours. I estimate spending over 1,000 hours when you consider all the preparation, documentation, and additional experiences. It's a commitment, but it's all worth it for the end goal: becoming a nurse practitioner. 🎯

Great video. Do you think that it’s worth paying a price difference of sometimes $40k more for a school that secures a clinical site/ preceptor for you to save the hassle? In my area schools that secure sites are usually under $50k for the program but the ones that do often cost upwards of $80k

Thank you for watching and commenting, glad the video is helpful! Briefly, I would say ‘No’ to answer your question. This is actually a good topic that I will explore in a future video. Speaking only for me, $40K is way too much of a premium for preceptors. Plus you aren’t going to get $40K more in education, which is the most important thing to consider. Does this help?

@@MyPMHNPJourney Yes that helps alot. That's what I imagined but wanted to hear it from a current student's perspective. I'll be on the lookout for when you cover that topic in the future. Thanks so much !
