Why are people so surprised about his success? He has been writing op-eds in newspapers which aspirants read. His foundation must be really strong, including answer writing and optional subject (economics). He already has a great tab over current affairs so it's not as surprising or lie as people are making it out to be.

7 months were enough for him.
    1. He writes in op-ed hence answer writing is complete.
    2. Optional subject ie Economics
    3. GS3 economics part
    4. Current affairs. He works at World Bank
    5. Interview. He's exposed to world way more than other aspirants

I don't understand why so much criticism! This man is well deserving to be where he is. He didn't get into Oxford using his sources. He got in with his hard work. Similarly he cracked UPSC with hardwork. Not with money or sources. Stop criticising people simply because they're from a different background. Your goal is same as his. Work for your goals instead of coming in on the internet and critising people for the kind of families they come from. Go and study!

Guys he is not misleading by saying he cracked UPSC in 7 months
    He actually did
He was AIR 1 in CBSE class 12 He knows how to study different topics ,he also told he was interested in democracy, politics,(watch his interview of 2014) from there he did his graduation in economics and topped it which was his optional it's obvious he had scored good marks in optional and then he went to Oxford ( just imagine the exposure he had got and that only UPSC wants his knowledge has reached a great heigh And none of the aspirants has this track record so it's clear that he was already above 90% of the aspirants ) then he worked with world bank where many policies, scheme's get formed and it's a major part of current affairs for UPSC ,he was working there and if you see his twitter he was writing articles for the indian express which many aspirants read daily (So basically he was the principal of the school in which many aspirants study ) and he had all the qualities to qualify UPSC in his first attempt like good amt of knowledge ,good writing skill , and in the interview by seeing his DAF only panel will get impressed (Which institute wants to loss the opportunity of selecting a Oxford graduate for IAS )
He was totally a next level candidate for UPSC So it's clear he would definitely be selected
UPSC doesn't want 50% marks graduate ,15-20 hours Slogging candidates it wants exceptional candidates
He was nurtured in the way UPSC wants from his childhood like most GS he already unknowingly has studied
On the other hand he was from a very privileged family ,very much educated parents (which is a very rare advantage)he didn't have worries about job, family, money and also he didn't have pressure of anything (which most of the aspirants have) which is a very much advantage
He is not the guy who studies day before exam ,or curious about which movie, song is released ,etc..which many of us do
I will not be surprised if he tells he cracked UPSC in 3 months
So it's. A very clear msg that we should keep all his stagery side and look for the one whom we can relate to ,whom background we can relate to
You can follow his stagery if you think you are capable of getting Admission/ graduating from Oxford
