I bought the scales and I think I nearly worn the mode button just nothing, needed grams to calibrate but want grains to weigh, thank you thank you so much superb video 👌👌👌
Thank for this! Received a brand new scale with the default, and only setting, being grams. Initially thought I had a defective scale, found your video, followed your instructions and able to set to grains and default to grains on startup.
Thank you for this lifesaving tip. I thought my 3 year old FX-120i had malfunctioned after I upgraded from Autotrickler v3 to v4. It worked once after setting up and then after I changed powders and power cycled it, it wouldn't display grains, nor pair via bluetooth to the app. After your fix, everything works perfect. Thank you again!
Hey man if you're on the bubble just wanted to throw a vote of encouragement to fire up a camera while you're doing the legwork on your blog posts. I don't know that TH-cam videos would add to the excellent data/narrative/presentation you have in the blog, but it just kind of rounds it out. Obviously ups the time investment but your combination of long range shooting, technical capability and knack for presentation really could turn this into a thing for you (and by extension, the rest of us)
Thanks for the support! As it happens, I've already started filming a few things with the intention of providing both written and video content. It is a LOT more work, but I think it helps everyone in the end.
I could use some advice. I just bought a FX-200iN for a good deal. Should just be a "legal for trade" version with a higher capacity than the 120i. However I cannot select GN, it's just not listed. Any advice? Is there a menu I can't find to enable GN so it's selectable?
@ronncraddock268 I appreciate the reply. Ultimately I came to the same conclusion. It took huge digging to verify that the legal for trade variant does not support grains. Thankfully, calibration is comparatively easily done with a hidden button on the back inside of the unit. I ended up using it quite successfully, just with the added step of converting to grams. It actually allows for ever so slightly more precision as grains rounds slightly where grams does not. A wonderful scale. I love this precision equipment!
@@thomas78552 on the ntep scale to get grains. Also there’s another way to allow you to calibrate from the buttons on the front of the scale if it’s newer then 2021. That’s cool though I had a ntep scale awhile back and thought about doing the programmable unit but never went through with it. I had read that you can program your own custom unit to get grains.
Hi there! I see now that you had a question buried in a longer comment, which I missed. Glad that you were able to get some help. I'm not sure if it's exactly what you needed, but some instructions to reset the scale to factory settings are on page 37 of the manual under the section titled "Initializing the Balance". www.aandd.jp/products/manual/balances/fz_fx-i.pdf
Excellent tutorial , I do that same thing and when I get to scroll thru the mode button and search for GN it’s not there . I have the Fx - 2000i . It says in the manual it has GN in the modes but I just need to reset the unit. It just doesn’t say how to..someone mentioned a button to press in the back of the unit but I don’t see one.. any help you can give me would be appreciated, maybe you can make a video on it Or might have a video on it already , I’ll check your TH-cam channel and subscribe...? Thanks
Just purchased this scale used on eBay. It seems to work great, but the previous owner turned off the GN scale function. It still has all other in the list. So far I haven't found any way in the user manuel to turn it back on. Can you help me?

I don’t think the legal for trade version will do grains, you also can’t calibrate as easily. It’s not ideal for reloading types of weighing.

Sir, my A&D weighing scale is showing error 1. How to solve this problem.
I can't offer you tech support, but I can recommend checking the user manual -- it has quite a lot of helpful information!
Thank you! The manual which came with it did not help. Mine wouldn't even cycle past grams which made me panic that it was not working.

Section 9.2 of the manual (page 37) shows how to return the scale to the factory settings.
@@Ammolytics Thanks. In time, I I'm sure I would have found it, but not before pulling some hair out, :-)
