    How to add 2 Flat Drivers to Sog Powerpint Multitool
    In this video I show how to easily add two different size flat drivers to the Sog Powerpint. Anyone who owns one of these knows that this tool is lacking a flat driver, but this problem is easily solved. I simply use a small grinding wheel on a dremel tool and sand paper. No disassembly or special parts required. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

    The Power Pint is a great platform for simple tool mods! There are a few things I wished they had done differently, fortunately most of them are pretty easy to fix. Overall, I think SOG should focus on the Power Pint more, since they have such a great niche model there - none of their competitors really has a functional multitool in this size category, let alone one with such a versatile toolset. Maybe the could also produce a premium version with a better blade steel, hard wire cutters etc., I think that would sell well.

    I already love the power pint but this dramatically makes it even better! Doing this to mine for sure! Awesome video man!

    I like the flathead on the bottle opener, but just as a warning, the file is hardened and could break along easier as it has no flex.

    Really excellent work, I just took the belt sander to my powerpint, took 5 mins to do both flat drivers

    Nice job! Any way to swap those crappy Powerpint scissors for some small Victorinox scissors?

    After grinding the edge, does the tip going to be brittle? Or you have to heat treat the tip again. I like doing this but I still hesitate.

    I have done this kind of thing, as I collect multi tools. I have a powerPoint, and could do it, but since it holds a bit in the bit driver there's little need to modify it. I love my PowerPoint just as it is, but there is nothing to keep it from opening up if you carry it on your waist, and this is a problem, because the pliers can jab you unexpectedly, solution carry a rubber band. And the rubberband can hold a bit for the bit driver.

      i put a small thin magnet from a tablet case between the 2 handles, works great

      @@edc_victor It's been quite some time since I left this comment. The magnet is 1 good idea, the manufacturer could have just put a clip on it that would snap over both parts of the handle. I've since bought a sheath. The tool is well-made and worth carrying due to its size.

      Just tighten the torx screws I believe it's a T8 that's what I did to mine and I no longer have that problem. plus it secures the bit better so you don't have to grip it all tight. Only thing is that I cannot fidget with it anymore, I can't open it with one hand anymore but this isn't a problem for me. Hope this helps.

    Nice mod. Do you know of any other multitools which have compatible tools?

    Is the material of this multitool not brittle?

    Are flat screws used a lot in the US? Rarely see them in the UK outside of plugs and chocolate block.

    • @BassMaster.454
      @BassMaster.454 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a lot, mostly Philips, but you do see them some. They are mostly for clips, screw backers, and smaller screws. (House hold things)

      Actually yes. You run across them all the time, although less common than others. I expect it's similar in Europe since all our stuff is made in China anyway.

      @@headholio Europe’s all Phillips and Torx the same, it’s just electrical that’s flathead. Everyone’s stuff is made in China and it’s Phillips and Torx. I’ve put it down to tool count, flatten the end and add a function.

    I want to contact you privately how??

  • @terrencemolinari
    @terrencemolinari 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Adding a flat head is easier than this. Step one, get a flathead bit. Step two, insert it in the magnetic bit holder on the hinge end of the Powerpint. One of the reasons that I carry one.

    • @headholio
      @headholio ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't want to carry a bit just to have a flathead screw driver. It's the simplest to add and most useful tool for a multi tool, and it boggles my mind that SOG could make such a clever multi tool with such a glaring oversight. Having a bit holder is nice, but shouldn't be necessary to have a simple screwdriver.
