This song is not just about farmers. The translation does not convey the real meaning tbh.
To avoid political issues, already the lyrics are covered. The subtitle translation adds one more level of abstractness.
The song tells the pain of the suppressed ethnic groups.
He says "I planted 5 trees, I nurtured a beautiful garden. The garden flourished. Still my throat is dry"
If the garden is flourished, then the farmer does not have any problem. Then why is his throat dry?
In short, Some people work hard to create things. But they cannot get the rewards for their efforts. This is what they say in the whole video indirectly. More details on this will create political issues for the artists. So, they avoided direct messages.
In fact the description from the original video was updated recently by deleting some information about how Arivu's ancestor's migrated from Srilanka.

It is the story of Valliammal, Arivu’s grandmother, who fondly used to address him as ‘Enjaami’ (‘en saami’, meaning my God). She was taken from Tamil Nadu as a bonded labourer to Sri Lanka to work in the Tea estates there. When they were sent back later, they had lost everything. They were landless. No but the song doesn't even sound like Makeba. Idk if it's because of the fact that there was an Oohoy sound (which was also different from the sound made in Enjoy Enjami). I don't know where they got that from. And for the clothes..Cardi B, really? Is it specified that no one else but Cardi can wear that? A lot of artists wear similar outfits. It's not copying. Subtitling this song should have been a tough task and I still believe that it's not the best not because I am arrogant but because the song explores different themes and elements in little over 5 minutes.
Too much of backend history - Migration, plight of Migrant labourers, marginalization, inequalities, right to land, resources, reverse migration, caste discrimination etc
The song itself is a homage and lament to land, people and all the living creatures in it. The poorvakudi (ancient tribe) didn't exploit but preserved the land and resources for future.
Top of that, the song celebrates and laments at the same time (Uses parai and Oppaari art form to convey that) which makes it difficult to convey the emotion via subtitles.
Only Tamizhs or the one living close to Tamizhs can understand and relate to this masterpiece. It isn't easy to pull this off - That's why I believe Arivu is really an Arivu Jeevi (Genius). He is an international artist - Speaks for human kind. Great stuff.

Yes, he has given good explanation about his grandma situation and the origin of this song. But he has not explained line by line. Usually poet is having hidden meaning. This one is first of his kind. Grandma is calling Enjoyee Enjaami vangoo vangoo. Here 'Vangoo' is a plural form so the grandma is not calling only his grandson. The true meaning is the grandma is a nature is calling the younger generation of the tamilan I.e Granddaughter = enjayee and Grandson = Enjamee. Come together on an elephant and the three times rain will come in the land. Every line is having good meaning. Some politically meaning also there.

This song has mix of styles. Folk, Rap, Oppari (Tamil ancient agony singing style for funerals, it is still practiced in rural parts of Tamil Nadu) and the humming with chorus overlay. The old women voice in between voice is Oppari, it will trigger emotions and naturally the tear will come out.

But be freaking honest about their opinions and put it straight to the point. Great reaction.
This song penned by Arivu - it makes you feel unsettled as it makes you reflect on the relationship between you and the land where you have lived. But it also consoles you and continues to tell you to enjoy while being aware of there realities. Out of the oppression, had blossomed seeds of optimism. The older generation is calling out the present generation to reunite with the land that they have lost touch with.
With visuals of lush green vegetation, the feeling of the wet soil in our fist, vibrant music, and the rap, the song wants this generation to break the cycle, and the liberate themselves of the feeling of detachment from the soil bequeathed by the older generation.
The bounties of nature , the joy of living in harmony with other creatures, the feeling of attachment to our soil- these are some of the emotions the song evokes.
The land - its not mine, not yours , it's OURS. The song successfully answers this.
The I planted 5 trees . Nurtured a beautiful garden line in the song :- tells stories of the labouring class, who toil on the ground but are never allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
And at the end of the video the old lady sitting on the chair is Valliyamma- Singer Arivu's Grandmother. Her ancestors were taken to Sri Lanka from India to work on tea plantations, around 200 yrs ago. And when they came back to their home land Tamil Nadu, India , they were left with no land to belong to. And Arivu being the grandson inherits this feeling of rootlessness ; with a disjointed past, he feels this sense of not belonging.

Enjaami is a copied song from popular international music video named Makeba Jain mainly. Other than that visual is influenced by Katty Perry's Roar. Costume and attitude from Cardi B. Arivu's part is taken from Jason Derulo's tip toe & Kendrick lemars all the stars.
You can catch the theft within 1st 15 seconds of the video. Enjami had this sound odia odia & jain one had ooohe ooohe. Then Enjami changed Makeba Makeba with cuckoo cuckoo.
Even the concept of both the songs are related. Background music too.

which national award winner Danush acted .Because you see Jabby naturally ??!!understands "hindi" whereas he couldn't do with Tamil language...his reason for that is epic..!! The emotional scene in the Tamil movie is "dramatic and in Bollywood..??? its different and subtle!!."jabby my question to you is ,how would you react when you see the dead body of a loved one..whose head has been chopped off???. I bet you would be subtle and not dramatic. Dont judge our culture and its origin by Bollywood movies and dont be bias when reacting to someone's hardwork. You know nothing about our history the land and its ancient traditions.

I believe the English translation does not do justice to the original tamil lyrics. For example, Enjoy enjaami, they translate it to "enjoy my dear", which is not correct. Hear the pronunciation. It's enjaayi enjaami , which literally means en aayi(my mother) and en saami(my father or my god). These words are also used to call young boys and girls with affection by old people. Particularly, in villages, grand parents use these words to call their grand son/grand daughter as enjaayi and enjaami. If you take the next line, which is "come together as one", I think the lyrics is from the grandparents to their grandchildren asking all the men and women to come together as one and save the nature which was protected by them and their ancestors.

It is Epic Tamil album, which represents Tamil culture!!! and way of life that we used to live! Here again the name bOllywood pop up, where there is no relation exists between this Tamil album and bollywood!!! Language matters first and then country comes! Every body saying it as Indian song😏, India has 28 states with different languages, history and culture, India is a union of 28 nationalities, how come a song from particular nationality becomes Indian song! Credit has to be given correctly!

The Indian style u mentioned was "Oppari" specific to Tamizh culture. Hip hop music is becoming a part of life style and music, tamil rap(Sri Lankan, Malaysian, Indian)music have hip hop style almost in every album.
Oppari- A style of song sung during someone's funeral or during any sad happening and is very common here TamilNadu.
This video has an african touch since Tamilians and Africans are somehow connected to each other in some case.

This is the unique kind of stuff that Indian music can produce but unfortunately does not get the exposure it should, generally, because people, not just outside India but also within India to some extent, identify only Bollywood music with Indian music. I’m glad because of Internet, creations like this are getting the recognition they deserve and I hope more and more of such stuff is produced and comes out of India.

It is a song on, for, and of ecology.
The caterpillar is the frog's sister. This land also belongs to the dogs and wolves. It is the bird droppings that grew up as forests that became our lands and houses.
For me, more impactful ecology per syllable than how dare you .
