Genre:- Oppari - People sing this at someone's funeral praising their life and celebrating their life. But this genre is disregarded by many Indian's because they think it's sang by people of lower caste. But this genre reflects Tamil Culture.
I think oppari music is so underrated. Even avatar movie uses oppari music. It’s terrible how in India we are still fighting casteism. Having said that I really wish an actual oppari singer, a woman’s voice was used instead of Arivu changing his voice there. That could have truly elevated this song to the level it deserves! Oppari is not done by just lower caste. Do not spread misinformation. Oppari is done by the relatives (women) of the deceased. They would sing about all the things the deceased had done and how the relations would miss him. It is a final respect to the deceased person. There is no set pattern in this. It will come in a flow. In last few decades, Oppari is just followed by the backward classes and lower castes. In that way it is true.

“Parai” & “Murasu” is purely belongs to Tamil tribes (everyone thinks it's an African music played in the beginning) but it's not, followed by they showed “Salangai” wears in both the legs & hands which is followed by the Tamil tribes to express their feelings by the way of dance. This is mostly during auspicious moment, festival, wartime etc.,. Hope you have seen Salangai” wore in “Bharatnatyam” which is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu.
