    Undesignate now centers the tpod. One crappy work-around is to set the AO as a waypoint, then every time you waypoint designate, you get roughly back to where you started.

    • @RedKiteRender

      Is a target programmed into PP? if it has no co-ordinates set, it may be jumping to the origin of the map or something strange as it has no target to slave to. I'l be taking a look at the recent changes to the TGP soon.

  • @jubuttib

    I have 2 JSOWS on station 8 and 2. I selected both stations in quantity tab. When I input coordinates in PP1 on station 8 and hit step it goes to station 8 PP2. After I click on PP2 it is X out even though I have elevation and coordinates in correct format. Station hits same target as well even though separate coordinates. Can you help? I’ve spent about 10 hours trying to figure this out. You explained the process but in hyper speed so I couldn’t really understand it. No problem with single rack and single JSOW. Just double.

    GPS weapons appear to be bugged, at least for me. Cannot select any of the PP sets, stepping automatically moves me back to TOO mode and the coordinates no longer transfers from TOO to PP mode while switching the modes. I basically have to either manually input coordinates in PP or hot swap coordinates in TOO mode with target waypoints

    • @TealJosh
      @TealJosh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      when yousing pp mode you don't need to select qty stations, if you do, it changes to TOO mode whenever you step. When you use PP mode step changes stations even though they are not selected. TOO coordinates transfer to PP mode was a bug and has been disabled. My personal trick is good old pen and paper and manually enter the targets into PP. TOO does not support BRU double mount stations.

    Hello! What is the height of using JDAM? Why do my JDAMs miss large hangars with a 50/50 chance from above 30,000 feet? Precisely I do everything as in the manual, it definitely hits the video for everyone. I also enter decimals in PP mode or exactly in the center of the hangar in TOO mode.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Release height shouldn't matter, however, distance does, if you're dropping the bombs very close to the target your bomb will risk overshooting, too far and it'll undershoot. If you're attacking a target on a hillside it'll be less accurate too.
      In the advanced settings you can change the terminal guidance impact angle, setting this to a vertical impact will reduce max launch range, but should reduce 'Circular Error Probable' Should note JDAMs are simply less accurate than Laser guided, making tanks harder to hit. (and why laser bombs still get used even today)

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This video is a little outdated now. Precision waypoints with WPDSG in TOO should work just fine still, main changes are to the TOO1/2 and PP / station logic. The manually entered PP method should still work, but each station has it's own set of pp/too targets now.
      Just bare in mind that JDAMs have a circular error probable (CEP) of about 5 meters, so it's entirely possible to miss a tank, even with perfect co-ords.
      I'm not sure if it was implemented, but fire the laser at your target before taking co-ords and it should provide a better range solution and, more accurate co-ordinates.

    • @bakermiaz
      @bakermiaz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedKiteRender manually entered PP method works fine. Precision waypoints with WPDSG in TOO are way off normally fall south of the target or do strange things, like fly right over and then turn in circles.

    Your tutorial is great for DCS. But ED made this so weird I lost all interest for Hornet.
    It's better simulated on VRS Super Hornet on FSX.
    And being an early block F/A-18E, the weapon system is almost the same as late block F/A-18C.
    And if you look for it in Google, you can check it for how it does work on the C.

    • @Jacobruxo
      @Jacobruxo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Out of curiosity, what do you think ED made weird? Because to me looks a bit odd that you prefer to spend a lot o cash (VRS super bug + tacpack) to turn FSX (outdated sim) into something close to a combat sim (event with tacpack there's lots of limitations), when DCS already gives that by default.

  • @charlesmagrin2616
    @charlesmagrin2616 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dang this is so misleading... Would be much simpler to display and allow assign of individual coordinates / waypoints to each bomb, like STA1-1 / STA1-2 / STA2-1 / STA2-2 etc... I wonder if the real jet is like that or if this is due to early access. I've had to replay a few times in order for my slow brain to understand it all XD thanks for the tuto man :)

    • @Chrinik
      @Chrinik 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AFAIK there isn't just "one way" to do this and it all depends on the computer software and hardware implemented in the jet IRL.
      Because this plane is relatively old, so are it's computer systems. Block Upgrades upgrade them continuously, sure, but they then need to be compatible with the old weapons as well.
      If you want to know why this might be an issue, try to interface an old Atari 2600 with your modern Windows based machine, hell, even older windows based machines working on the same CPU instruction set might cause problems...
      So they are indeed quite a bit limited in how they can upgrade their weapons. The memory and controller interface for the bombs is situated in the pylon, it doesn't actually seem to have the capability to know how many bombs are suspended on it, or at least assign them individual data. Same with setting LGB lasercodes PER PYLON, not per bomb.
      This is AFAIK realistic to some extend.
      Later jets and software packages might have remedied this behavior, but I have neither the most recent version of NATOPS manual in hand, nor any other documentation I could quickly cross reference.
      And I'm pretty certain very few pilots actually trained for such a maneuver.
