agree. could be nice to have air suspension so you can drive it low to the ground like a scaled up hot hatch with more efficient highway driving and fun canyon carving, or higher like a true crossover with higher ride in the city, easy in/out and better clearance on gravel road. I think that would be a nice compliment to it's dual hatchback/crossover identity. even better with adaptive damping to handle potholes/speed bumps/gravel, or smooth roads

Wow the final full range you get in real life exceeded Hyundai estimate. That's crazy good man, no other EVs I've seen does that, typically the opposite lol. Truly impressive especially considering it's AWD version and got that always-on side cameras + many big screens inside. Bravo Hyundai 🔥

I am looking forward to my long range rwd version of Ioniq 5. Range efficiency is quite a bit better, less weight and 1 less motor but slower as well. I have already accepted I am not willing to pay the price I would need to exceed my S4 0-60 times, I expect even a rwd I5 off the line to 40mph will be more than adequate for city driving

When the newer EVs from Korea come into America, the manufacturers need to clamp down on these trashy dealers that are price gouging customers. Or just start selling direct to consumer like it should be.

You cannot dismantle the franchise-dealer laws that are in place... best to do is find a reputable dealer or just wait till it comes second hand.
If hyundai does what Chrysler did with the launch of the Challenger Demon (mark-ups illegal, first deposit means last reservation) then that would be a win-win.

Great video as always! This car is on my short list for 2022 or 23. As this was filmed a few months ago, have you since been able to confirm the Ionic 5's USA battery size will be 77.4 vs 72.6 KW? That would help compensate for our higher speeds on the open road, and I'd really like to see at least 220 miles real-world range while averaging 65 to 70 mph on a highway trip.

I would be interested in the EV6, the sister to this car. But what worries me is that at 120-130kmph speed the range of this thing goes from 400+ kilometers to like 220-250 depending on the outside conditions. I have seen both tests as such, and on one the car hit 220km range, and on the other 280. Both with 1 person on board.
So I just can’t imagine with my wife and the kid and the trunk full of stuff, with 120-130kmph on the highway, I can’t trust this as our only car. Sad to have one of the quickest cars on the road, but having to drive it slow to utilize the range. So looks like my next car will be a hybrid, until we get new battery technology with like 500+ kilometers range with good load in the car and faster speed.

@@AsianPetrolhead It is not easy to install an after market tow hitch and light harness, especially in an EV, due to complex electronics. Take a look at Tesla model Y, which now has a factory installed hitch in USA (but not in China). The hitch light harness is integrated with the software & touchscreen. No after market provider can achieve this level of integration.
It may worth asking Hyundai about this option, which is an invaluable accessory to a niche of drivers. With V2L capabilities, I would expect more drivers to tow light trailers or mount large bicycle racks in IONIQ 5 for outdoor adventures.
