@@canadaraid2110 With upcoming Standard rotation in a few weeks a lot will change. The Marches will no longer be legal. This deck was never going to be particularly competitive though.
Oh man! At first I totally expected some sort of green deck with toxic, but this deck blows that one out of the water! Love this control style on the poison theme! Awesome job as usual Luca!
"That's [Vraska's Fall with 2 solved Cases out] a one mana draw two make opponent sac a creature and apply a poison, which is a pretty good card." LOL!
I made a similar deck but with Jace Reawakened to plot poison or proliferate spells. Then can pop off with Jace’s ultimate to double all of your spells for the win.
as i tell my friends when they build some really cool and my highest compliment in deck building, that's ILLEGAL ASF 😂😂 and i love it bout to add that in my new build
@@LegenVD I was thinking you could have serum snared your case since it proliferates on "3 or less"; odds seemed good they wouldn't have removal for it, but still very good (and annoying) deck xD
In a community where creators are constantly defending their bad plays, it's nice to see LVD point out the smallest optimizations in his own gameplay to us.
Game 2 was such an incredibly sweet victory for my tastes. To each their own, but I despise combo and seeing you shut it down completely twice in a row was a delight. It had a very "How many times do we have to keep teaching you this lesson, Old Man?" kind of feel for me.
This deck has been super fun to play! One of the biggest things I have noticed with it is just how many decks in the current meta rely on creature interaction to work, I keep seeing decks lose to me because they’re trying to either fight or kill creatures, so their hands are pretty much useless against me!
47:50 you had lethal, as you could have used a serum snare on your mite token (or even the case) to proliferate once more. Anyways, amazing stuff, keep it up !
Indeed, although on the off chance that they can interact with my Serum Snare target we could let them untap and either counter a relevant play or win at instant speed if they tap out.
25:48 LVD masterfully predicting the game as usually. This time he predicted the matchup against the Mardu Mayor two weeks back and purposefully didn't put Get Lost into the decklist. Thats what real MtG proficiency looks like.
I do play this deck but a more toxic version, with voidwing and the 1/1 deathtoucher. Is good but sometimes I lack the cards I need so I might try this, even if solving the case seems difficult.
I was playing a couple months ago something similar and it was fire :) It kinda fell off at some point but maybe i`ll have to revisit this iteration. Only wonder what sideboard cards to use for bo3. Any recommendations for 5 cards (3x copies each in sideboard)?
do you have a plan for revisiting your older brawl deck like Korvold, Etrata and Feather? since we get a lot more support cards for them in Arena after 4 years. also thank you for the deck, really interesting build
I always recommend checking out deck statistics on the Untapped.gg website for a larger sample size. In this case the deck wasn't meant to be particularly competitive, as stated multiple times in the video.
47:51 was leathal with the snare on your mirrex token. BTW the way the deck is, it fares extremely poorly vs Boros convoke and mono red. Its healing is rather inconsistent (only tied to two cards) and it doesn't have the cheapest boardwipes (Paths of peril). I would consider a celestus at the very least for the extra healing and draw consistency. I find 4 cases to clog the deck's performance a bit as beyond the first two draws of them, the rest are just dead draws, especially for a deck that has so much card draw. (I think it is also possible to drop a land)
Those matchups aren't really fixable by changing a couple cards around, the whole gameplan just lines up poorly. That's why I also didn't play it on the ladder to avoid getting steamrolled over and over. The goal wasn't to make the best control deck, but rather showcase Ransacked Lab alongside the Poison cards, which is why I was happy to run the full playset. I've already featured several control decks that are better designed to fight Monored and Boros convoke, so just wanted to spice things up a little bit.
The deck mainly loses the 1 mana removal options. Unless we get something better in future sets, there's still Disfigure or Whisper of the Dross. The mana will also get a bit worse, which is true for every deck.
You keep referencing a decklist that you are familiar with in Match 3. It doesn't look familiar to me even though I watch every video... I seemingly may have missed it if you could point me in the right direction 😀
@@LegenVD You could technically have targeted your case too, as that is also 3 mana or less, and they probably didn't have a way to remove it. But you were in control and had no reason to, so I understand taking the risk-free approach.
Me: LVD is the best non-toxic MTG player out there.
LVD: Playing a toxic deck for today.
"You were the chosen one!"
in match 2, you could've proliferated their saga so they lose the opportunity to cast anything with chapter 3
Good point!
i forget to do that half the time haha
@LegenVD seven months ago you built the poison ivy deck. Which deck would you say is better in this current standard environment?
@@canadaraid2110 With upcoming Standard rotation in a few weeks a lot will change. The Marches will no longer be legal. This deck was never going to be particularly competitive though.
@LegenVD thanks. I am hoping to compete at my local store for the urza saga and I was looking for a strong deck with poison

This deck is one of the most elegant things I've seen in MTG on a while.
As always, well played!
47:54 Vraska's Fall into Serum Snare the token is lethal. Interesting deck.
Possibly, unless they remove my Serum Snare target to fizzle it. Either way we had the game in hand.

You don’t have to be so toxic man

Only wonder what sideboard cards to use for bo3. Any recommendations for 5 cards (3x copies each in sideboard)?
Cards like Duress and Negate always have a use, but I recommend looking at other Dimir control lists to see what people play in their sideboard.

Nice one! Can u make an human legend deck tribal with jodah?
Any advice on how to get venerated rotpriest? From which packs do I get him from mythic, alchemy???
It’s in regular Phyrexia packs, but you’re likely better off just crafting it using wildcards.
Thank you.
Ahh, I love decks with no creatures! So interesting, and a joy to play against! This is how Magic was always intended
borros convoke loves this deck
im currently creating this deck, march of wretched sorrow isnt something i can find. Has it been removed/nerfed?>
any advice on what to change the card out with? I dont think its able to be used in standard anymore.
