Thank you for letting us all in on your next project, please keep us updated on your training. Have a good time doing the Ragbrai, make plenty of videos, and return to the UK anytime.
Found you through the cotswald way, and im super excited to see this next journey 😊 good luck, guys. Also looking forward to the not confirmed UK revisit 😏
Just looked at how hilly southern Iowa is - looks like there's plenty of ups and downs, but nothing vertiginously high. It's 64 miles per day. You were walking that in about 4 long days in the Cotswolds. You'll be fine! Never heard of RAGBRAI before - what an epic idea!
Sounds great. I'm no expert, but I'll try to help. Smooth tyres, not those mountain bike knoblies. That just saved you from some effort, sweat and chaffing. Keep 'em pumped up, Happy rolling. 🚴🌵
If it's a road / metalled course all the way, I firmly agree. Definitely worth using a road bike with road tyres. Mountain / off road bikes are heavy, and knobby or even just soft tyres sap a lot of energy.
Yes. I remember, I think it may have been the 90s, when everyone had to have a 'mountain bike', though everyone generally rode around their streets, sucking themselves to the tarmac. My old thin tyres whipped around.
Good morning from England. Firstly, thank you for doing the Cotswold Way as I am not far away and have not done it, or even thought about it, and I like walking so I was really put to shame. I must now do it. Your idea here though gave me another idea for you - Lands End to John O'Groats.
Ted Weaver One of your Brit Mark Masterson converts here. Good luck on your travels. When I think of Iowa I think of flat farmlands,John Deere tractors, and 'American Pickers'! Looks like we'll be seeing you on a Mark Link up on 2nd March.Look forward to that.
I have done it. You guys will love it as it is a 300 mile party on your bikes. It is like a pub crawl if you do it right. Have fun and Iowa is a lot prettier than you would think.
@@Off.Day.Adventures Actually no we are not. We are going to walk the total trail of the Cotswolds . You might remember them? However RAGBRAI is fun and you will have some serious bikers, but most are like yourself and are there for a good time.
I'm already looking forward to your next challenge. I don't know where you are doing your training but perhaps you could record some of it so we can track your progress.
So, like many I found you two on your Cotswold Way adventure. And then the family cruise. This will be very different, looks like your "inner hippies" are coming out. No quaint hotels and pubs for you anymore, lol, (though maybe you can still fit the pubs in). Please do the training for your own sake. Looking forward to watching.
Hi hope you have a great time sounds a bit too hot for me stick to England if you got a po box let me no send you some kendal mint cake mountaineering bars keep you going thought you were doing a q&a with Mark anyway if you come back to UK in a year or two give us a shout we can rent some canal barges on leeds Liverpool canal cheap and fun take care have a good time x

Oh we will!!
I assume that you will be taking a tent. Make sure you practice loading it onto your bike and then cycling with it and your other gear.
The good news - there's a giant bus that will take our gear for us....not sure I could do it otherwise!

Yes - no mountain bikes for us! Thank you for the tips! Chaffing will be.....scary....!
I watched Kara & Nate take on ragbrai. It's not easy. The very best of luck! 👍
That’s what inspired us!!!
450miles in 7 days? I knew it couldn’t be a canal boat chugging along our waterways!
Sounds exciting!
Why not both?! ;)
@@Off.Day.Adventures I'll send a get-ready note to all pubs by canals right away!
