    To my eyes I think that brass was not actually glowing... yes the flame started turning red, but I find getting the brass to actually glow where you see the brass glow on the interior surface of the case neck briefly after it drops out of the flame... takes more time. "Over" annealing risks are overrated IMO. It takes a very long time for a propane flame to actually damage the brass... Its much easier to under anneal or partially anneal than to over anneal with a single propane flame. In my opinion, the anneal times presented in this video will produce a partial anneal not a full anneal... It does it consistently which is great but really... there is no downside to using a slower drum spin rate till the point where you can briefly see a red glow in the interior of the neck after the case drops in the pan... it is very brief because it cools fast.
    Also, you can anneal a case over and over... it doesnt damage it... once the anneal alters the hardness of the brass... successive anneals reach an equilibrium where there is no more effect... you could take that test brass thats been annealled a gazillion times... size it and use it and it would be fine.
    To actually trash a case neck with a single propane flame would likely take well over 20 seconds dwell time... I think perhaps even more. Im running 308, 708, and 300WSM brass through my EP2 at a setting that produces approx 8 seconds dwell time. For a reference Erik Cortina runs brass 6 seconds with a double flame. Hmm... I might consider increasing to 9 seconds... The brass is not over annealed and it is certainly not ruined.
    The EP2 is a fantastic product btw!

      One thing is for sure, what happens in front of me, and trying to show the exact same glow video isn't the same.

    • @trevorkolmatycki4042
      @trevorkolmatycki4042 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EPIntegrations True that!... I find it challenging to see the point where the brass just starts to glow when it is right in front of me! The light of the flame obscures it especially when the flame turns red. For Federal 300WSM brass I found an obviously observable glow in the brass at a setting of 22 which on my unit is 8 seconds dwell time... I could briefly still see the glow in the brass just after it falls in the pan (but it cools fast!). Strangely enough, I have found it takes more time for my 308 and 708 brass to achieve that reliable glow point... for those it took around 9 to 9.5 seconds. The position of the brass in the flame affects the temp so I use test brass to set up just like you do before running the actual brass. I have decided to stop stressing about over annealing and to concern myself more with avoiding under annealing... After researching the topic a bunch I have come to the conclusion that the risk of damaging the brass due to over annealing with a single propane flame is extremely low... It is now my opinion that even if I doubled my dwell times, my brass would not be "ruined"... so... I think I might try a setting in the 19-20 range for my next batch which will be in the 9-10 second range. Love your product!

    i am just going to say it . why should i get this one over the anneleze ? i like the drum idea you have on this one . no plastic to worry about melting . but it looks like it will only hold 2 to 3 cases for feeding into the drum . i can get 100 cases in the anneleze . i am looking to get a anneler soon . i love the 'drum' idea . sell me on this one .

      This is only my opinion and honestly not trying to be biased and why I designed the EP 2.0 annealer the way it is, if you load 100pcs or less, there is no reason to have a hopper IMO..... you still need to pick up the brass, orientate that brass one direction, and either place it in a hopper or a single feed fence. Regardless, why would you want a hopper then when you can have a case feeder where you literally throw handfuls of brass into the case feeder and it orientates the brass and feeds the brass for you, in which eagle eye and us are currently working on as an add on for those that don't want to single feed (which people massively blow this single feed out of proportion until they actually use the EP annealer). Here is the case feeder video option coming soon to the website th-cam.com/video/OoIz_MW3ohI/w-d-xo.html
      50pcs at 6 Seconds per anneal each is 300 seconds or 5min.... or 10min for 100pcs. That really isn't a long time in the reloading process and hopper or not, you just can't walk away from any flame based annealer. I've owned annealers with hoppers and by the time I loaded up the hopper, screw around with the mounted torch, I'm already a 1/4 of the way into annealing with the EP 2.0 annealer = another reason why the torchhead isn't mounted = it's very fast... especially when going from cartridge to cartridge.
      Next, this can anneal from 300blk to 50bmg without having to add or remove any parts and adjusts from cartridge to cartridge in under 30 seconds.....
      Next, the small footprint = takes up less room on the bench. It's very small.
      Less $$$$ = no extra parts. Ready to anneal from 300blk to 50bmg right out of the box. No extra parts to buy to do all cartridges as listed above.
      No dwell time between anneals. The second one drops out the other drops in.
      Hope this helps.

      @@EPIntegrations yes it does help . and a honest reply . sometimes i only need to do 50 cases . and other times over 1000 . just depends on if its my accuracy loads or bulk ammo that's been fire 4 or 5 times . i do like the adjustment on this one over the anellezee and it's drums . i will check out the link you posted . thanks .

      @@ron4hunting sounds good and it sounds like a case feeder option (and not a hopper) is what you need. I will not only make a video of this option in action on our channel, but will post that on our website. Regardless if you're feeding a hopper or a fence, in my option, you're still feeding the machine. The case feeder is where you can just throw handfuls of brass in and watch the burn 🔥😎👌👍😀

    • @EPIntegrations
      @EPIntegrations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trust me, you don't need the hopper especially if you reload 200pcs or less. If you need to pick up, orientate the brass in a particular direction and feed a hopper, then you're doing the same thing when you feed a single feed fence. You're still "feeding the machine". I'd rather have the ability to go from cartridge to cartridge without having to add or remove any parts and change from cartridge to cartridge in under 30seconds. Trust me, when you've used the annealer you'll know what I'm talking about. You don't need a hopper. It's not like you can just walk away from a flame based annealer anyway and go mow the yard. You need to keep an eye on the process

      A looong-ass time by the looks of it... Ive been annealing with a propane bottle that is old and far from full so I have a couple new ones on standby... but the near empty old one doesn't seem to want to quit... Quite surprising really... that little tank is like the energizer bunny.
