@Rachel Cochranit was a hit at the time of initial release. If you look at the greatest hits list of his songs, it's always there. Yes, he had better songs, but it's always there.
I met him in Ibiza when he was filming the Club Tropicana video, coincidentally in a bar called Tropicana. He was on his own and for three nights he came out clubbing with the gang of blokes I went on holiday with, I spent a lot of time with him because we had music in common. When I said I wasn't into pop music he said "The Beatles were pop music" and it opened up my musical taste which had been mired in snobbery. He was the most softly spoken, mild mannered sweet man. I must admit I was surprised at the time how little success he had with the girls, I thought he was shy :D. For those that love him, yes, he was everything you'd want him to be.
George was the ultimate vocalist. His Voice was like velvet. Just pitch perfect, delicate, soft and precise. He could also make an audience feel everything he was feeling. My all-time fave, I love him so much!
Also, one of my all-time favorite vocalists. I loved when he did cover songs and made them his own. (I Can't Make You Love me, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and of course The Long and Winding Road, etc.) Growing up, I have always loved this song. George Michael just brought it to a whole nother level. Absolutely amazing!!

Remember, George, Did It all, from beginning to end & everything in between,. You'll never see or hear anyone like George & he will stand the test of time! 😄🎶⏳
Let me share my George Michael story... he was the most wonderfull singer... one that will always remain a part of the soundtrack of my life... I had the pleasure of seeing live in Portugal on his last tour "25live"...me and my best friend travelled almost 400km (almost 250 miles) and it was worth it! Still to this day one of the best concerts I've seen! He has amazing songs!
One of the best concerts of my lifetime as well. I saw George's 25 live concert twice. Once in New York at Madison square garden and once in Washington DC. I will never ever forget those concerts. His voice just enveloped the arena. The songs of sorrow made people cry, but yet plenty of songs that we all danced to.. What a beautiful talented amazing human being.
George was an incredibly talented singer-songwriter. He could write and sing songs with topics ranging from raw sexuality (Fast Love, Outside) to overwhelming grief (You Have Been Loved). His 1996 'Unplugged' studio performance is simply superb ❤
Hi, George had & still has the greatest, most beautiful in the world. George had no vocal training either. George sang & wrote, arranged, created, directed & produced all of his tours & own music., His style, Pop, R&B, Jazz, soul & some swing. His collaborations were with the best of the best. Such as Aretha, Whitney, Mary J., Ray Charlies, Tony Benett, Tobie Burke, Stevie Wonder & more. George was & still is so beautiful inside & out. He did so many Tributes & Charity concerts. George sang many of Stevie Wonder's songs. In Fact, after George passed in 2016 @ 53 yrs. old on Christmas DaySteveie when asked about George He said George was God's gift to the world. I never heard truer words. I could write a book about George, but I won't, for now, maybe collectively over time, & will try too! & NOT ON PURPOSE! My suggestion for you would be FREEDOM 90, & EVERYTHING SHE WANTS. George is profusely loved from all over the world. He's performed in 68 countries up to the LIVE 25 Tour, How many more, I don't know, however, I do believe there may be more. George put his heart into everything, in his lyrics, in the music, & just plain George. When singing you will feel the love. Well my friend I hope you continue on for the full 30 + years of his magic! You will learn more about who George was, what kind of man, his artistry, kindness, & how Humble he is! LOL, My Friend, REMEMBER GEORGE & KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING! & mostly ENJOY! Thank you, BK 🎶🎤😎🎶🎶🎶💖💞🗺 🕯😇🎶🙏
Amazingly done by George Michael. I have love him from the beganning ,i knew he was going too be MAGNIFICENT, i went too the REVCO and the black guys was songing " Careless Whisper "❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Faith is George Michael's biggest hit staying at #1 in the US for 4 weeks and uk for 1 week back in '87 Careless Whisper stayed at #1 in us for 3 weeks... god dam faith was played over 50 times a day back in the day in radio stations and cars or FM's everywhere!
When you started singing 'The long & winding road' you sound like perfection! Don't dishearten yourself, you really are incredible!! Good on ya!! 🥰. Seeing & listening to George Michael sends me off into a trance! Beautiful song too! xxx
I adore this beatles cover RIP Linda Mccartney, Georges Mum Leslie, George Michael and his sister who sadly died exactly 3 years after him also on xmas day
@@hollygranger3734 yeah its awful imagine the guy who made the song Last xmas died on xmas day and his sister on xmas day 3 years after, their mum had passed, but still have his youngest sister and dad left
The Long and Winding Road was sung so beautifully because George sung it. ‘Faith’ was the title track of George’s first solo album, released in 1987 - so Nick - depending on your age, it may be a childhood memory? It was enormous the whole world over - and fantastic. It was notable at the time for having the most US top 10 singles from one album ever - 6 I think. ‘Kissing a Fool’ is still one of my favourite songs of his. The Faith tour concert I went to at 15 is still one of the best performances I have ever seen (33 years later).
Other live songs to check out from GM: Praying for time live unplugged A different corner live on Parkinson’s Jesus to a child original live performance, when he first ever sang it live it’s heartbreaking (song is written about his partner who died of aids, and for years he never told anyone about it and no one knew if the song even referred to someone in his life) Tonight live (Elton John cover) You have been loved (unplugged)
Really adore this beautiful version of long and winding road so many thanks and always put your mental health as priority because without it,we got nothing X
I saw Wham back in the early 80’s, one of my friends got the tickets, I was only going because I had a ticket, but …… at the end of the concert he sat at the front, stool, spotlight, unaccompanied, and sang “Careless Whisper” … he was *amazing* and I was spellbound, I was and still am a huge fan. I’d never heard someone sing like that!
Okay my friend I didn't know if you were still around or not I'm one of your followers and I simply love your reaction because you tell just the way it makes you feel
Agree Faith is George's song Long and Winding Road is Beatles written by Paul McCartney. To me the best songs that George did where Queen Somebody to Love and with Elton John Don't Let The Sun go Down on me, these song show off his amazing voice. His tone is so rich and clear .❤️👍🎵
Other great George Michael songs in my opinion kissing a fool, my mother had a brother, you have been loved, John and Elvis are dead, Spinning the Wheel, A different corner, omg I could name so many great songs
Of course you've heard that song before. It's by a little group called 'The Beatles'. You should check them out. ;) :) 'Faith' is one of George's early solo hits.
Long and winding road is a song from the Beatles... George is paying tribute to Linda McCartney ( late wife of Sir Paul McCartney / leader of the Beatles)... whom died of cancer like George late mom...!!! 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 George never ever had singing lessons neither. HE WAS a FANTASTIC VOCALIST, songwriter, and producer... He soooooooooooooo missed...!!!! Watch him singing at the Apollo Theather with Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson he was not even 21. He was dubbed by all Motown Artists... 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

George was so misunderstood .he was incredibly talented but like so many of his time had to hide his sexuality . Wham was a great band fun and leapt George into the stratosphere . Anyway I still love him rip
Bro check out FREEDOM 90 by G.Michael (official video). It features most of the famous supermodels of the time as well, and it's upbeat song. Also check out his his cover of "i can't make you love me" it's beautiful. Also not many have reacted to his duet with Whitney Houston "if i told you that" (it's really good)
Also i highly recommend a cover of George's "ONE MORE TRY" by British Soul singer, Beverley Knight, at Porchester Hall, in London. It's a performance from around 10-12 yrs ago. It's fantastically song. I'm sure you will love it ! th-cam.com/video/xQYdacZOQsE/w-d-xo.html
the long and winding road was the Beatles so you just know their songs whether you know it or not. Faith i'd be surprised if you'd never heard, it was number 1, huge song back in '87, he wrote it, but it was suggested he add more, so he borrowed that bit from Bo Diddley which all those on guitar were having such a great time with. Its not his greatest moment, nor with Aretha, nor with Stevie, nor with Smokie, tho he sang with them all, he was best being him. No one else could come close x
I had to add one more comment talking about duets with George yes the great Aretha Franklin I knew you were waiting for me but also with Whitney Houston if I told you that and with Mary J Blige As, nd with Stevie wonder live singing Love is in need of love today and living for the city and of course with Elton John Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, and I have never been able to find a clear copy but George sung live with Beyoncé if I were a boy,he had also song with smokey Robinson, Queen, Lisa Stanfield and I'm sure many I forgot
You need to listen to George Michael and Stevie Wonder live loves in need, from Motown returns to the Apollo in 1985. I also recommend As, the duet with Mary J Blige. Another Stevie Wonder song.
Yeah I’m commenting a lot but just so you know he not only sung with Aretha, he sang with Stevie Wonder more than once, Elton John, Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, and many many more. Get familiar with the duets this man sung!
Shocking to hear you say you don't have that much confidence singing! I believe wholeheartedly that you would totally knock this song out of the ballpark. And that's just from the few bars you've sung in this video! Please review George's Live performance from 1993 of Killer Papa. It is my favorite performance and truly phenomenal as it establishes him as a music MASTER! th-cam.com/video/CBcs1FkfJyM/w-d-xo.html
And if you don't know wham songs, George band before hand, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, I'm your man, and Edge of Heaven, BTW watch the videos if you do they are great videos
