- Sung by Derek Warfield. A Fenian song which appears to date back to 1865 and uses the air of 'The Battle Cry of Freedom' and is about the Fenian cause, the images featured are of the Fenian raids into Canada (1866-1871) where Irish nationalists, most of which were American Civil War veterans from both the Confederacy and Union, launched raids into Canada with the goal of pressuring Britain to leave Ireland
2 more Fenian songs soon
The fact that so few people in either the US or Canada know about the time an army of Irish-American Civil War veterans invaded Canada continues to amuse me.
I knew that! (I'm Canadian)
The whole thing still amuses me. Irish veterans form their own army and invade Canada.
And the terrorists failed.
Never heard an Irish version of the battle cry for freedom before, great video keep it up 🇮🇪☘️
Great song. Never heard this song before.🇦🇺❤️🇮🇪
If I had to guess, this song version most likely made its way over to Ireland with Patrick Kelly, formerly of the 10th Ohio Infantry.
Derek even made an irish version of Battlecry of freedom with no difference with the original song. Awesome
Yea. it was his brother who wrote the songs anyway so it's no surprise
@@TruekingoftheLeinstermen i didnt know his brother wrote the song. Thanks!
Großartig
