Lichtman’s keys are based on significant patterns from the past. He didn’t capture the most significant pattern here which is a candidate suffering from dementia because it doesn’t exist in the past.

Get a basic understanding of dementia before saying he has it. The words in the debate were clear, even though his voice and tone were pale. People with dementia would not be able to respond to the questions and arguments put right before them, and would not be able to pay attention the full 90 minutes. He did all that.
As for scripted events like they talked about, at least Chris didn’t say dementia. But to those who say scripted events can’t tell us anything about dementia, again, get a basic understanding of it. Oh, but we have had at least two, Woodrow Wilson and Ronald Reagan. Wilson had a serious stroke 2 1/2 years into his second term, and his wife Edith subsequently secretly ran the government. Government insiders had to have had an inkling, but I think it was kept hidden from the public pretty effectively. Ronald Reagan was already showing signs while in office of the Alzheimer's he was diagnosed with 5 years after leaving office. There were definitely concerns voiced about Reagan's mental status while in office -- cartoonist Gary Trudeau of the Doonesbury strip ran a series about a journalist's tour of Reagan's fraying brain, and there was a hilarious Saturday Live skit playing on the issue, with Reagan multitasking, doing complex math in his head, speaking Arabic, wheeling and dealing with enemy countries, and running his staff to exhaustion. It is acknowledged now he had memory problems while in office, but it is argued whether or how much he was actually impaired, just as it is currently with Biden.

@@Jarhead1968 mistakes are made with classified documents all the time. The difference in whether they prosecute is what they do after making the mistake. Biden found the documents, alerted the authorities, and turned them in. Trump purposely took them, hid them from the archives, showed them to people, ignored requests to return them and even had his lawyers lie that he had returned them all. He’s not being charged for those he returned after being asked. He’s being charged for those he didn’t.
