I want to be vulnerable for a second and tell you all how much this song means to me.
I grew up in the US my mother was a immigrant from Russia and was a professional cello player for the ballet. She then became an official celloist for the nutcracker ballet. Growing up it was a tradition every Christmas we would go see her perform and it was always so fun to see!! At Home one of her favorite songs to play alone was carol of the bells (she loved Christmas) so I’d hear this song almost daily. She got cancer when I was 16 and died not to soon after that. I found this version of this song a month later and would fall asleep to it every single night for over a year. I remember I had my first job around this time and got home from work and heard this for the first time and had just gotten out of the shower and was walking to my room and just completed fell to the ground. I don’t even know how to describe the feeling of hearing this song for the first time. And I still come back to listen to this song a few times a month I can’t describe the beautiful yet painfully emotions a get hearing this. As cringe as it sounds the only way I can describe it is as that of a spiritual feeling. I will never stop listening to this song. It truly is the song that means more to me then anything else in this world.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a grandpa as well who played the piano majestically. He died 2 years ago 3 days before Christmas. I guess Merry Christmas to me and my family. This was his favorite song to play around Christmas time. I always just say and listened to him play. Every year I return every so often but always 3 days before Christmas to honor his death. Rest in peace.
I've always thought the person in the background picture of this was a teenage boy approaching his home on Christmas Eve. Only to see tons of cop cars and an ambulance, hence the lights behind him. And he notices his own body being taken out of the house, and later finds out he has died and he is now a ghost. Doomed to walk the monochrome world alone dressed in a coat and Santa hat, always reminding him of the last night when he was alive.

Nah. I think children that listen to this on Holidays get cursed by the dark sound in the song and die on Christmas or Christmas Eve. Someone help me and tell me am i the only one that thinks that when closes his\her eyes or is it just me??? This reminds me of November. That eerie time when the trees become skeletal and bare but Halloween has already passed. When the only snow around is slushy snow that squelches. When Christmas is already being discussed but the winter isn't fully there yet.

Its been three years since that Christmas Eve. It was snowing just like this, I can still remember the glass breaking and my parents screaming. I survived because I hid in the closet, whoever or whatever came into my house that night took my parents from me. I walk through my hometown for the first time since that night I'm 20 now. It's Christmas Eve yet again, lights are strung up on every tree and building, not a soul in sight. The only sounds are my footsteps in the snow. I reach my street I walk down it still remembering the flashing police lights and the paramedics rolling out the slashed up corpses of my parents in body bags. At the end of the street, I find the house I once called home. Probably the only house without Christmas decorations. Nobody wanted it after my parent's murder, it's rotting here for years I can still see the broken window where that monster came in. I walk up to the front porch steps and just stare at the door, the snowflakes melting on my face. I sigh and turn around to leave accepting what happened. Though my parent's case is still open I decided to solve it myself coming to terms of what happened is the first step.

I've been listening to your music for years now, I listened to your podcasts with GermanCreepypasta and such (that was ages ago!) - it's like seeing an old friend win. I love this carol. This version makes me think of the Little Matchstick Girl... the lost, the ignored and the forgotten. Snow falling down on a lost soul. Isn't it amazing how the same song played simply changes your perception of a piece? Without the grandeur of strings and brass it becomes melancholy

You could make the coolest fucking scene in a movie with this. I haven't come up with an entire plot yet, but I imagine a shot where the camera is following someone running somewhere on a snowy night. The camera starts at their feet and has a 10ish second shot of them running while the camera is shaking a bit. It then pans above them with a similar shot. Then it starts spinning, sort of a drone shot from above where it spins and slowly gets further away.
