Also known as Beach Road Level Crossing.
Located near Newhaven Harbour station and in the area of Newhaven Port and Boat Yard. This crossing is within the port boundary, on a private road, so this was filmed from behind a fence, on a road outside the port area. Its quite a unique crossing with four barriers that do not have any skirts.

Ish. It was converted from an MCBR to an MCB-CCTV. It just had long shades fitted to the existing LED wigwags and 'Keep Crossing Clear' signs added. The barriers there are Smiths Industries barriers from the 90's, which this crossing was installed around the same time as Newhaven Town. Newhaven Harbour LC was quite an old one, and the barriers dated back to the late 70's-early 80's. It should have been made a foot crossing in my opinion, but they couldn't be arsed and removed it.

Thanks. Yeah, only been changed to an MCB-CCTV when Newhaven Town signal box was closed. I believe both the Newhaven crossings are now controlled from Three Bridges ROC.

This did originally have skirts around 2012-ish, but they were removed for some random reason. Mitre Bridge Junction LC met the same fate recently...

Crossings without skirts are for crossings with almost no pedestrians, presumably why Mitre Bridge, Beach Road and several in Northumberland have no skirts

Its interesting to see some barriers without any skirts. Mitre Bridge is understandable as the road surface is awful from all the HGVs that use it, and the fact that very few pedestrians use it.

I wonder what the safety view of an MCB-CCTV crossing without skirts is? Manningtree MCB-CCTV had its barrier skirts removed, for a while, over 20 years ago, but then they were put back on over safety fears.
