I definitely think there’s some bias against Luka. When Embiid scored 70, everyone in the media was wetting themselves. Then Luka scores 73 and the media people were like “This is disgusting. There’s no defense in this league anymore.”
it DID, and between Embiid 70 and Luka 73 was 5 days apart. They called embiid next level, another level, whatever and then instead of celebrating ir congratulating Luka, they talked more about how ashamed of Atlanta 😢😢😢😢 Like between that 4 (Embiid 70, Luka 73, KAT and Booker 62) Luka one was the most efficient and most need, like Mavs only W by 5pt, Luka needs to drop that 73pt in order for Mavs to W, not putting number in garbage time...
NBA today is like 2K games with defense difficulties set at beginner lvl so of course everyone puts on superman #s. NBA has changed the rules so much that it disallows tight defense no more.
It's really not that deep, he moved up to 2nd because he's second in important Advanced Stats. Jokic is dominating every single Advanced Stat, and has his team hovering between 1-3rd in the West. He's leading in Player Efficiency, Win Shares, Box Plus/Minus, Value Over Replacement, etc. That's why Jokic is winning it again this year.
@anythinggoes5574 Can you tell me where you are finding these advance stats? Just because Luka is ahead of Jokic in a lot of stats, including 3pt%, ppg, apg, steals, etc. in less games played.
When I knew the disrespect was too much was when Luka dropped 73 against the Hawks. People started to question the NBA and the lack of defense but when Embied scored 70, everyone was praising him and said he locked up the MVP.
Seriously! Instead of a conversation about how generational Luka is, we had people saying, "but it was against the Hawks" and "not impressive cuz no defense". I really think social media has ruined how people view the game
Yea fr people need to go watch bird defense highlights there not crazy he wasn’t the greatest but he was good enough and he hustled Luka needs start doing that
Put Embiid on Dallas and gave him the ball and he would average 50. There is no play in Dallas. It's just iso games. No coaching, nothing. Thats why they suck.
The NBA doesn’t want so many yte boys being the face of the league.. that’s why Joker didn’t win again last year and why Luka won’t win one unless he puts up 40/10/10.. given what’s happened before in the past (people winning mvp without being on a great team).. there’s no reason Luka shouldn’t be competing with Joker this year and he should’ve last year as well minimum. The voters and league would never admit it but thats the reason.
2 of Tatum's 5 missed games were recently against the Pistons, and Boston won by 25 and 27, which really inflated that differential. Luka missed two games against the Wolves and Pelicans, and one against OKC. Opponent matters.
Both this comment and the first reply to it are true. Which in turn shows that when looking at the MVP award there should be like a billion criteria to look at and study to truly see who deserves it.
@@redemption3111 I'm not even saying Tatum should get consideration over Luka, just pointing out when we want a certain guy, we fixate on the criteria that highlights them. But you can always find a counter point. And when your team has less talent or is injured, you're gonna have to do more. Doesn't always make you a better player than the guys who don't need to do as much. Guys sacrifice their individual accolades for a winning situation all the time.
Not the best metric to measure someone by, especially if a system is designed around a player. So a team may stank without for example without Harden's Rockets. Also, the bulls barely won any less games without Jordan, and we all know how valuable he is.
Jxmy, I'm pretty certain that this video has single handedly boosted Luka back into the mvp running. I never saw anything on socials about lukas performances, let alone his shot at mvp, but he's been completely blowing up my feed since the release of this vid. Thank you.

No literally, the Luka disrespect is unreal. Everyone I see outside the media is genuinely confused as to why Luka isn't 2nd at minimum in MVP voting. Jokic probably still deserves it but it's like the media is hellbent on making sure Luka gets no credit in the MVP race like huh.

Do u think it's racist that there aren't more white players? I think every team should have to have atleast 5 whites on the roster. That way we can have equal representation in a predominantly black league. It's just not fair!

Thanks for making this video! Luka needs more respect in the league. As a MFFL in Dallas I watch every game, go to a little less than half the home games every season, so I see what Luka is doing night after night on the court and his numbers aren't everything. The way this man goes about playing basketball is unbelievable! Dude is doing things that we've never seen before!

as of today, Luka fished 3rd in MVP voting, won the WCF MVP, and is the 4th player in NBA history to put up 450/150/150 in a single playoff run. so, yeah. Best Player In The World is right on point.
@kavishkabartlett4261 not complete picture in this video - giannis, luca, shai, even sabonis are all leading luca in total win shares and even offensive win shares. they also hold an edge in overall efficiency, and while luca leads on bpm and vorp, those two categories are extremely close. Factoring these, makes total sense why luca is behind them - it is more difficult to contribute to a team that has overall better players. Considering luca trails in some categories and barely has an edge in others while playing on a worse team, this means other players overall have a bigger impact on their respective team. MVP should not be based on individual numbers, but should be impact on team. The old mvps you compared who had high individual numbers also had better team stats than luca currently.
Everything that the hate-filled clowns said and the more stupid of them continue to say against Luka is turning back and falling on their own heads and biting them from behind: He plays only to score. He is a stat padder. He is a ball hog. He has zero defense. He is slow. He doesn’t make his team better. He doesn’t make his teammates better. His team is losing because of him. He has zero team success (actually he came in NBA as 19-year continental champion prodigy on national and club level from Europe, which produces the best players in the world nowadays), etc., etc. When his team loses Luka is the guilty one because of the above mentioned “reasons”. When his team wins and Luka has obviously the main contribution Luka suddenly doesn’t exist for the army of his haters - it’s the team chemistry and everybody else’s great play but not Luka. It’s laughable and at the same time it sadly reveals the dark side of the human soul - envy, hatred, and additionally corruption for the media agenda sellers.
The mavs are 8th in the west. Doncic is exactly where he needs to be in the mvp race. Just like Kobe said harden will never win a ring with his style of play, the same thing applies to doncic. Jokic is a real mvp. Doncic is just a guy that dominates the ball, he needs to work on being more valuable without the basketball
I love you Jxmy for respecting Luka Edit: I know he doesn’t specifically say that he “respects” Luka, but he knows that he should at least be a top two MVP candidate. It really pains me to see that the media won’t even acknowledge him. I’m a mavs fan, and every single game this season Luka has shown out. Thank you jimmy for at the very least making a video about this issue.
Luka is unbelievable and a generational talent. I'm a Nuggets fan and obviously support Jokic and Co, but I like you do not understand why Luka gets little love compared to a Embiid, SGA, Jok and Tatum. I would take him to build a team around over all of those players(outside Jok, but I'm biased obviously). Glad Jimmy did a vid on this, but he must have made it a week ago as Denver is the first team to 50 wins in the West and tied for 1st with OKC.
@@Peanutdenver no. luka didnt get enough love because his competition are heavy lifter. when jok won mvp, his competiton are embiid giannis with less than 5 wins difference now, luka is againts jok giannis and shai with more than 10 wins each
Direct and indirect viewership generated -- public award systems are built for buzz and word-of-mouth marketing to increase viewership for ad revenue more than they are to actually award performers/players. You could be the best player of all time and not be awarded MVP if your Google Trend numbers aren't as good as the numbers you put on the scoreboard.
The reality is that the MVP award has always been narrative driven. It gives the media/fans something to talk about all year, and the standards change year-to-year based on personal preference.
I won't say it's narrative driven, just that narrative is also a factor alongside stats, skill and team-standing. What I mean is just like those other factors they're all weighed and can way more or less in any given season. Think of the Russel Westbrook MVP, yes he had the insane triple double average but he still wasn't able to carry his team to good standing. When you add onto the fact that he had something to prove with the departure of KD and how he had to stand as the sole driving force of that OKC team then that's an MVP worthy narrative. Basically I don't think narratives are a bad thing to include in the MVP race as it made the Westbrook MVP heartfelt and legendary in a way. It's not narrative driven, just that it's also a factor to be weighed

narratives counts but mainly the leader of the adanced stats wins the mvp
Yet, those same narratives are calling that 2017 Russ mvp the biggest stat pad mvp ever, 2011 Rose mvp the weakest mvp ever... So, yeah, narratives, you gotta love them.
@@Grind2Excellence🤨. I’ve seen probably 80% of the mavs games this season, and the ones I didn’t catch live, I still watched highlights of. If you think Kyrie is more valuable to this team, you simply don’t watch enough of the games. Because he doesn't have as much impact as SGA or Jokic. I don't care if he near averages a triple double. It's meaningless when he's out there hogging the ball and chasing stats.
@kenlen8029 just say you don't know what you're talking about. #1 all time in usage % is MJ. Luka leads this season but tied for 2nd is SGA. Pulling one Stat and claiming that as is the reason is useless.
it is individual but its also about ur individual impact on the team. yes hes putting up these numbers but they are essentially empty if hes not making an impact on his teams record. While SGA numbers are great but calm compared to Lukas and hes doing much more. Whats more impressive being going 34 9,8 while fighting to make the playoffs or 31,7,2,5 while leading the youngest team in the league to the number one seed. OKC was 10th last year and have way less of a roster depth than the Mavs yet are doing more

Luka is great, he's just not anywhere near Jokic this year who was noticeably absent from the current year discussion while making the phantom case for Luka. There's a case for 2nd over SGA and Giannis, I personally wouldn't make it but it exists, but Jokic is just so far clear of the field it's not funny. Embiid getting injured removed the only legitimate challenge to Jokic this year, if he didn't win it this year it would be an even bigger travesty than last year.

@@gagetooley6680 Luka on track to be recognized as the best player in the world. After Lebron, Giannis then Jokic each had their 2 years on top. Now it might be Luka’s time. Until Wemby becomes an actual adult.
There’s no simple answer, but what I do know is that Jokic had a starting backcourt of Monte Morris and Austin Rivers in his second MVP season. The player with the second most minutes/game was Will Barton. Facundo Campazzo, Jamychal Green, Boogie, and Bryn Forbes were major rotation pieces. 6/7 of those guys don’t even play in the league anymore. They were not a play in team. Win totals are similar, but sometimes that’s just the way it is. If the Nuggets had been in the play in Jokic would not have won. That was the narrative that season.
It’s not narrative, Jokic leads almost all advanced metrics for a MVP 4th year in a row, he was even crazier last year. 2 years before his first MVP, Giannis was league leader back to back and won MVP back to back, the year before that Harden was league leader. So until Luka leads in this like winshare48, BPM, TS, VORP..etc, you can’t even make a case that he’s #2. He’s #3-4 right now, and we aren’t even talking about his team’s rank, winshare is an isolated stat.
thank you for having common sense. jokers team was a lottery team outside of him. they had lost their 2nd and 3rd best player and still wasnt in the play in. westbrook won because they lost a top 20 player ever in durant so everyone expected them to be in the lottery but westbrook made history averaging the triple double and lead them to the playoffs. scoring is inflated now so you cant just look at numbers. luka might still miss the playoffs the 2nd year in a row, how is he the mvp?
@@mrblackhouseprez That's the thing, a lot of people can put up insane stats on bad teams. But how are those stats contributing to winning? If they aren't then you may not be using your team the right way.
Thank you. Every one tries to discredit jokic's second MVP. The context says everything, and his playstyle elevates everyone in the court. The Mavs are good and are underachieving so far.
Narrative is also very important. In 2017. when Westbrook won the MVP, not only did he average 30point triple-double, but because KD left him in summer of 2016. everyone felt bad for Russ, yet he carried OKC to 6th seed in tough western conference. When Jokic won the MVP in 2022. as a 6th seed, his 2nd (Jamal) and 3rd (MPJ) best players were injured for a WHOLE season, and yet Nikola lead his Monstars made out of Monte Morris, Will Barton, 35 y/o Jeff Green and Aaron Gordon (Austin Rivers, Facundo Campazzo, JaMychal Green, Bones Hyland, Davon Reed, Zeke Naji and Bryn Forbes bench) to 48 wins and a 6th seed. That same season top seeds in the east were Heat with 53 wins and Celtics, Bucks and 76ers with 51 wins each, while in the west Suns had 64 wins with Booker and CP3 and Grizzlies had 56 wins (Mavs were 4th seed with 52 wins). Out of all of those teams, the only players seen as a threat for MVP were Embiid and Giannis and their teams only had 3 wins more than injury riddled Nuggets. So the narrative was if Nikola had his boys to play alongside with, Denver would've been top 2 seed (which they proved in the following 2022/23 season).
You nailed it. I feel like this video was just made to ride the Luka wave and make some quick money because the comment section has pointed out so many points he could have made that would have strengthened his argument. But the fact remains he left out nearly everything that weakens the Luka for MVP campaign. Bias reporting Jimmy!
Yet the same mistakes are being made. In your example, you've just shown that you can be the best player in the world but if you don't have a good team around you then, like Jokic, you finish 6th. Now, in Luka's case, he hasn't had a good team around him in the way that these other stars have had. Only since post all star, would I say the Mavs look significantly better. There's lots of work still to be done defensively, but they finally have certain pieces that you could say they can make a deep playoff run or finish with a high seed next season. Luka has had to deal with vital parts of the team being injured including Kyrie, Lively and Dante Exum. The team is 3-6 when Luka doesn't play which is worst record than any other MVP candidate. The Mavs simply do not have a better team than alot of the teams in the NBA. It is the reason why the Mavs were expected to finish in the play in tournament before the start of the season. Luka can still be the best player in the world but not be able to get his team to 4th place. You've already proven that with Jokic.

Now imagine if he was on the Knicks? Also the league is legitimately stacked. We’re gonna show these videos to our kids to explain why this guy who never won any individual awards is still a top 15-20 guy all time 😂

I think a few guys in the league right now could average that if their coach was like " I want to max out the potential ceiling of this team by making it a predictable heliocentric offense". There is a hard limit to how good a team can be with the Luka/Prime Harden style of offense. Most good coaches and front offices understand that and won't coddle their best player to have such a usage and on ball dominance. Luka is spoiled in the sense his front office cares more about maximizing Luka's stats than maximizing their playoff chances.

I gotta disagree hard, his defense isn’t good enough to beat out Jokic, Jokic is having again one of the best seasons of all time. I hope he never stops, His NBA content is best out there and always backs it up with the numbers and graphs really help put stats in easier perspective to understand
For content: By the end of the season the Mavs won 50 games and were 5th seed in the west. This season 50 wins was more than every team in the east besides the Celtics. (Knicks won 50) Luka maintained this production.
I remembered I had countless discussions about that before Lebron's MVP in cleveland. Arguably, you are even more valuable if your team needs you. I liked how you showed the statistics about the missing games, how different they perform with or without the player. (of course, this couldn't be the most valuable stats, because players might want to skip difficult games to make the stats look better). Or maybe winshares, or maybe other metrics that really shows not only how good you are, but how valuable you are for your team. I hope this leads to more discussion towards this.

He should be in everybody's mind for next season as an mvp canidate
Easily the best, most comprehensive analysis of the MVP award and of the ridiculous Luka bias. Excellent breakdown of the numbers and the historical precedence as well.
There's just nothing biased in the voting. Jokic is leagues clear in 1st, anyone who thinks this is a debate needs to go home and educate themself. 2nd is where there is a debate. Luka is the best offensive player of the 3 guys going for it but he's unquestionably the worst defender of the 3, his team isn't doing nearly as well as the other two, despite similar talent levels around him, he's the least efficient of the 3 and he's missed the most games of the 3. The reality is that SGA and Giannis both have at least as good a case as Luka and based on how most people judge it, better cases. I love Luka and he's having an incredible season but so are SGA and GIannis and Jokic is having one of the greatest seasons ever put together. Being 4th in this race isn't some bias or hatred of Luka, it's an admission of how the season has gone. Anyone arguing he's below 4th is displaying the bias though and should check themself similar to anyone who doesn't have Jokic first.
Comparing numbers to prior seasons is ridiculously short sided argument. Offense is extremely inflated right now, Mavs with kyrie and no luka have an offensive rating of 122. Want to guess what it is with Luka 122....his numbers are great but only tell one side of the story. He still has lots to improve before he can become a true contender.
A similar thing happened in the 2018-19 season with James Harden. He averaged 36 - 6 - 7 and Houston was the 4th seed with a 53 - 29 record. His 36.1 ppg was the highest average since MJ in 1986-87. Similar to Luka, this was an incredible season that certainly surprised people, yet he didn’t win the MVP.
I mean you have to compare who DID win. Giannis won, on a better team, and Harden won the year before. Context matters, which is the point. Same this year - why would it be Luka, when Jokic has even better stats, on a better team, just won a championship (and may win another this year), and didn't win it last year which would make him kind of a shoe-in for this year?
Thank you!!! I’ve always thought it was insane that the teams ranking was factored into MVP the way it is. Imagine a team loses Every game in a season. 0-82. Then they sign one person. No other changes at all and go 45-37. They are not a contender. They are likely not even a play in team. But one player makes that much of a difference you cannot tell me that they aren’t the Most Valuable Player to an organisation. I’d almost argue that the MVP should not be going to any team that appeared in the previous years finals. We know that they are on a valuable working team.
Something you didn’t mention and it’s very important is narratives. In 2017 Westbrook had that insane season, plus the narrative of having to carry the thunder after KD left. In 2022 Jokic was playing without his 2 best teammates and still took them to the playoffs.
mavs have been top 3 maybe even first in their starting 5 being injured… kyrie has missed around 23 games… luka would atleast have an extra 10 wins minimum
The narratives are all (false) and negative agaisnt luka. Stat padding, doesn’t play defense, makes teammates worse. None of them are true but he is stuck with them
@@lucashigdon4488 Kyrie to this point has played 4800% more games than Jamal did in 21-22 and the season isnt even over yet. Then add in MPJ missing 73 games while playing 9 with a back that required surgery. Both those players combined missed more games than all of Lukas teammates combined. Thats not including Jamal's/Mpj's replacements and other players injuries. Jokic took his team to the playoffs as the 6th seed. Jokic had on/off numbers that were far superior in every way to Luka. This is why Jokic won as the 6th seed. Not to mention shattering the single season PER record, and being the only player to ever record a 2k/1k/500 season. Lastly, his main competition was only the 4th seed with 3 more wins despite having a much better supporting cast. Luka is currently 8.5 games behind Jokic/SGA. If jokic was 8.5 games behind Embiid/Giannis. They would have won, not Jokic.
1:42-2:09 When Jokic won it in 2022, his team avoided having to be in the play in despite the injuries to Murray and Porter Jr. When Westbrook won it in 2017, he got his team in the playoffs despite KD leaving and the roster around Westbrook not being that good.

There is no way Joel "Im allergic to the conference finals" Embiid gets a pity MVP and Luka cant even be top 3 in voting. Shai and Tatum being in front of Luka in MVP voting is the most egregious thing Ive seen since the Iggy finals MVP.
Luka may have more points, rebounds and assists than shai, but shai is more impactful in every way. He plays better defence with more steals and blocks. He turns the ball over a lot less. He is doing better in advanced metrics compared to Luka. And on top of that he is leading a young inexperienced thunder team to the best record in the west.
They lead their teams to win u see how many people didn’t want to play with Luka Shai can score on the same level with better efficiency and play defense Mavericks are the 8th seed 😂 he got good stats to be a 1st round exit
People try to deny It, but the fact that the most talented and skilled NBA player is White and outsider is too much for some of the media (90% of NBA). Luka is the real deal in NBA.
Man didn’t even mention that Mavericks have had the most injured starting roster in the league and they are still in the sixth seed with Luka, it is called Most Valuable Player for a reason! His second option during all of December was Dante Exum! Luka is incredibly underrated by the media and it’s frustrating. Even his 70 point game was underplayed and didn’t even receive close to the narrative that Embiid did for his 70pt game. It’s actually concerning why he isn’t leading the MVP conversation, is it voter fatigue, win record, usage rate, team, what is the actual excuse for him not to win it?
Defense. The man is lazy on the opposite side of the ball. Don't just got by stats. Watch any string of 5 games and in every single one you will see him not get back, or trot back or play his usual matador defense. The guy is offensively gifted no doubt. Joker, Giannis, Embiid, Shai just offer both sides of the game, even if they are just showing hustle.
Based on what? I've watched him play over at least 20 games this year live and he does the same thing. In fact prior to the 73 point game the crowd was calling him fat boy. @@TonyHernandez-wv5vi
Stats? Eye test? Ive watched every single mavs games and he is better this year. He is seventh in steals and he tries more. He is never going to be DPOY but with the offense he puts up it doesnt matter. Stop being a hater and a casual.
Luka's style might reminisce Harden's at times, which was hated by the majority of basketball fans etc, due to its lack of postseason success. Despite his incredible numbers, the narrative of game "manipulation" and ball dominance shadows his unique talent and enforces the media bias against him and his "unathletic" style. But what's not mentioned is that Luka already have won in Euroleague and Eurobasket. He is a proven champion. Given a decent supporting cast and system he can win it all.
yea i was gonna say the difference is Luka is a proven playoff performer. i mean he dropped a 40 point triple double and a double “bang” game winning buzzer beater in his *first ever playoff series* against prime kawhi leonard and paul george. he completely obliterated the 1st seed when he was like 23 years old
Yeah true, but the MVP is a regular season award, that's why Harden won, it really shouldn't matter if the Mavs don't do well post season. Way I see it, if Harden won playing the same way, Luka shouldn't be any different. I know they'll never do it (because it really shouldn't be done), but Luka would be MVP if league position didn't matter.
The fact that Luka carried his entire team to the finals and putting up a pretty good fight against 4 all stars and somehow gets ranked third is absolutely insane to me. And yes, I understand. He had Kyrie Gafford and a couple other players that had good moments in the finals. It was mainly Luka. Him and Kyrie beating the Timberwolves when nobody said they would beat OKC when nobody said they would. I am absolutely pissed that they did not rank Luca higher. He was obviously the best player on the court in the finals but he does need a better team to win the finals and I’m super glad that they’re getting Clay this next season so hopefully that will help quite a bit.
You have to play both sides of the ball to really carry a team. I like luka and he’s an offensive monster but Boston completely exploited him on defense.
Exactly what I've been saying. the mvp shouldn't just be who has the most wins, but who has the most impact on their teams wins. tatum isn't more valuable than a lot of guys and is just lucky to be on such a deep roster he wions by default. if you take tatum off of the celtics, they're still a top 2 seed. but when luka isn't playing, theyre as bad as the spurs
Exactly. The award should go to the player with the highest difference in skill between them and their replacement. It's not called the Best Player Award.
Thank you man. Me and my boy have been talking about Luka being the mvp for the past month to two months. During that time he was no where on the polls, now he finally moves up to top 3/4. Crazy how someone having a historically great season is getting overlooked. I mean my man dropped 34 9 and 9 or something and they said his averages went down 😂
There's been much media biased against Luka since he was drafted, because he doesn’t fit the mold for their superstar athletes. He's been breaking and making records, every every season, and there are a handful of media that do acknowledge how special he is. I believe all that counts is that some of the greatest to ever play the game, see how special he is.
The problem with Luka is he dominates almost every single game. If you see a random Knicks player scoring 30pt triple double, ESPN will be talking about him 24/7. Luka got 6 straight… THE MOST ALL TIME… and media barely mentioned his name.
"lift your team out of the play in tournament" i mean that's exactly what he's doing. and that's putting aside the fact the west is stacked. maybe the most stacked it's ever been. the mavs were the 6th seed until the kings and suns won last night. and now they're only a half game back from the 6th seed but they have an easier schedule than both the kings and suns so it wouldn't shock me if they end up there.

There are just so many good players with similar stat lines but with much better standings
The fact that you gave on how a the team is doing without their best player is a perfect way to show how valuable a player really is
2 of Tatum's 5 missed games were recently against the Pistons, and Boston won by 25 and 27, which really inflated that differential.
But you can always find a counter point.

not complete picture in this video - giannis, luca, shai, even sabonis are all leading luca in total win shares and even offensive win shares. they also hold an edge in overall efficiency, and while luca leads on bpm and vorp, those two categories are extremely close.
Everything that the hate-filled clowns said and the more stupid of them continue to say against Luka is turning back and falling on their own heads and biting them from behind:
He plays only to score.
He is a stat padder.
He is a ball hog.
He has zero defense.
He is slow.
He doesn’t make his team better.
He doesn’t make his teammates better.
His team is losing because of him.
He has zero team success (actually he came in NBA as 19-year continental champion prodigy on national and club level from Europe, which produces the best players in the world nowadays),
etc., etc.
What "most valuable" means changes with the preferences of journalists.
They decide who has the best storyline and adjust their arguments accordingly.
@@sun5kong93 There's probably some truth to that. Though, I'd argue it's hard to put up MVP caliber numbers without trending to some extent.
Just say the truth..... he's the wrong color.
Why are the ones choosing MVPs again?
@@SL-rn4ev Because journalists believe it's their divine right to tell the unwashed masses what's true.
Bro that graph at 10:08 literally gave me goosebumps, how well you described it to someone who doesn't fully understand basketball. Superb content!
The reality is that the MVP award has always been narrative driven. It gives the media/fans something to talk about all year, and the standards change year-to-year based on personal preference.
It only became narrative driven when media started voting. Before players themselves vote and only the true best players get to be in top votes
Its bullshit award, influened by politics and has little to do with reality.

I’ve been saying this all season long. I genuinely don’t understand how he isn’t winning mvp. It’s an individually stat. Not a team stat.
Yo, I make some entertaining videos, and I'm asking if you guys can check em out. You don't have to, but it would be nice.

Not only is Luka dominating in all these basic stats, when you look at intricate stats like: Passing versatility, potential assists, post-up defense (points allowed), rebounding skill, steals, offensive rating when he's On/vs Off and MOST IMPORTANTLY, his WIN % is about 60%,
but his team could NEVER win a game without him or stay healthy, u start to notice how good he really is and how much importance ur team having to be close to a super team is to win MVP
Yea the only good team team they beat without Luka this season is the knicks, and that took kyrie putting up 44 points for them to win by 4.
What's most impressive to me is how he got those numbers. He attempts very hard shots most of the time and does not rely on freethrows.

Let's face it. Luka is a very good player, but the NBA is boring.

thank you so much for this, at least someone who does not take for granted luka"s greatness. i'm a huge luka fan, and it hurts that the media seems to hate luka and does not appreciate how good of a player he is. The biggest proof was when luka scored 73 points, instead of appreciating how good luka is, they went crazy by saying it was disgusting that the league plays no defense now but when embid scored 70, they were so all over him, that embid is the greatest player, locked in mvp, etc. it just so sad as a fan, that's why i don't watch any sports news or channel anymore, they were disgusting asf.
"The media hate Luka" is a ridiculous conspiracy theory. People don't have to worship this ball hog.
As of this morning, with the mavs up 2-0 on the Timberwolves off a Luka dagger 3 to win the game, this has aged in peak condition.
They up 3-0 now 💪
@@gagetooley6680 Luka on track to be recognized as the best player in the world. After Lebron, Giannis then Jokic each had their 2 years on top. Now it might be Luka’s time. Until Wemby becomes an actual adult.
Well...well NBA Finals baby
As of this morning the Mavs are not a play in team. If the Mavs end up the sixth seed, he has a legitimate case for MVP imo.
@@groupthink9851I also don't understand why he was comparing luka stats to tatum when nobody really think tatum should be the MVP anyway. compare luka stats to jokic and you'll see why jokic is the most valuable player this season. jokic is dominant when it comes to advanced metrics

This video was needed. Luka deserves the MVP this season 100p
He won the year before, and finished second to Giannis in 2018-19. Giannis deserved it, if you factor in his defense. Plus, the Bucks won 60 games.
Giannis was elite in both sides of the court while harden only tried in one and did not give any effort in the other.
I was punching air as a Rockets fan 😂
@@kadeemk4679 harden wasn't even the second or third best player

Thats not including Jamal's/Mpj's replacements and other players injuries. Jokic took his team to the playoffs as the 6th seed. Jokic had on/off numbers that were far superior in every way to Luka. @@micahheyward5342 You said that to downplay him though like it’s nothing compared to Jokic or Westbrook. That was my point. It’s between him and Jokic. No one is taking anyone else above those two.
@@GracieKiller- I said what I said to answer why those two won the MVP. I will admit Luka should be higher in the race
Thanks for the shoutout to Sabonis! I think it again highlights how talented the league is that a player like him does not get an all star position when a decade ago he would clearly be in the MVP conversation with those same numbers
Luka is better than Sabonis, but Sabonis should be All NBA. He’s the real deal without a doubt
Jokic, Embiid, SGA and many more beat Luka in ANALYTICS STATS, THATS WHY ! (They also have more wins) 😉
I remember when he made this video about Jokic. Love the callback.
That Luka/Tatum comparison at 13:00 is case and point.
I really look up to Luka as a player. His skill and scoring finesse is undoubtedly great. Such a shame he is criminally underrated in most talks.

Two months later and we have Luka going to the finals. Thanks for making this video Jxmy
Thank goodness Jxmy made a video about how absurdly good Luka has been this season.
One of the only channels on this site where I'm never dissatisfied. And I don't even really follow sports. Great vid as always!

And on top of that he is leading a young inexperienced thunder team to the best record in the west.
also shai is a lot more efficient
Grow up dude
Yeah you have a dent in your head if you think Joel didn’t earn the mvp
While half of Embiid points were from free throws, nobody mention that either
@@groupthink9851 He is better on defense this year
Based on what?
Given a decent supporting cast and system he can win it all.
yea i was gonna say the difference is Luka is a proven playoff performer. i mean he dropped a 40 point triple double and a double “bang” game winning buzzer beater in his *first ever playoff series* against prime kawhi leonard and paul george. he completely obliterated the 1st seed when he was like 23 years old
He's Harden 2.0
Yeah true, but the MVP is a regular season award, that's why Harden won, it really shouldn't matter if the Mavs don't do well post season. Way I see it, if Harden won playing the same way, Luka shouldn't be any different. I know they'll never do it (because it really shouldn't be done), but Luka would be MVP if league position didn't matter.
Yep hes ready to win now
How does this effect Dillon brooks legacy?
Dillion cant guard him
Fax pointless video
None. Dillon Brooks is alone at the top as the undisputed best player in the league. No one can touch this GOAT

I mean my man dropped 34 9 and 9 or something and they said his averages went down 😂
watching this (again) after Luka scored 20pts in 1st quarter of game 5 ; )
Man what a slaughter
Luka is the guard version of Jokic.(flashy passing elite court vision)
Shai is the guard version of Embiid. (Foul baiting and working in the paint)
I am just really glad, someone pointed it out, its not talked about enough,
kudos to you for pointing it out
Luka avarages almost the same amount of fouls as shai. Shai and Embid can defend.
@@pumelelabanca1442these dudes don’t know ball lmao
There's been much media biased against Luka since he was drafted, because he doesn’t fit the mold for their superstar athletes. He's been breaking and making records, every every season, and there are a handful of media that do acknowledge how special he is. I believe all that counts is that some of the greatest to ever play the game, see how special he is.
The problem with Luka is he dominates almost every single game. If you see a random Knicks player scoring 30pt triple double, ESPN will be talking about him 24/7. Luka got 6 straight… THE MOST ALL TIME… and media barely mentioned his name.
COMPLETE FACTS. I didn’t hear a single word about that on the media
Jordan and Kobe dominated wbery game and they were all the media ever talked about. Bird as well.
What are they going to say? "Luka scored another ".
Because he's a stat padder. Worst I've ever seen in fact.

We have the same problem with the Ballon d’or in football also, Messi would have a lot more Ballon d’ors if it was determined by individual brilliance 17/18 season in particular. he topped every attacking Europe, goals, dribbles in midfielder stats like assists, through balls, chances created while on paper he was a forward. This was unbelievable crazy and had never been done in football before and most likely never won’t happen again. Yet he placed 5th in the ballon d’or just because he didn’t win the champions league.
Ronaldo and Messi would have the same number if it was fair, making all the calculations, the ones messi robbed, and the ones they robbed from ronaldo. Tied at 6.
I'm so glad I got to see luka in person recently for the first time, he's a once in a lifetime player and these people don't realize it. Can't compare him to anyone but he's definitely on track to be the next mj/kobe/lebron type player for the nba very soon

Crazy how different the conversation is just a week later heading down the stretch of the season with the mavs now at a 7 game win streak and 9-1 in their L10(The only loss being the one Luka missed). And his stats on average have actually dropped mostly during throughout the games(even including the 47 points against the Rockets), yet he’s still jumped up to 2nd.
